These people know how to market! A cat with a lei got my guy and I to come inside. The walls are filled with pictures of furbabies in leis and it is absolutely incredible. I ended up getting a lei for my dog and his best friend so they can match. The woman who owns the shop was the absolute sweetest and just soo pleasant to chat with. She does a lot of great work taking care of the village cats in her spare time and with the revenue from the shop. Definitely come by here if you get the chance! read more

Had such an amazing experience here! Would recommend to anyone going to Kauai. We met the owner's sister who is the sweetest person ever! She screenprinted our Tshirts so beautifully while sharing stories about all the cats and dogs she saved, which was so inspiring! The screen printing is done right then and there so you can customize a lot of your shirt which was such an amazing experience. She also gave us wonderful recommendations, but we really loved to hear about all the fur babies she has helped save! We thought the price was well worth the wonderful experience and our new souvenirs. Will be back every time we come to Kauai! Additionally, Orange Julius, is always there to greet you and loves receiving scritches! read more

Such a wonderful shop, with incredible vintage screens and designs! My husband and I loved chatting with the owner while she made our shirts on the spot... Seriously, she can silkscreen you any shirt design in 5 minutes! I regret not buying more, the designs were so cool and unique, including some incredible Hawaiian quilt motifs. We bought a few leis for our dog and his best friend too, and can't wait to see their photos on the wall when we return one day read more

Awesome shirt shop with a mission! The shop keeper is an angel! She saves, adopts out and most importantly gets the village kitties sterilized. Spaying and neutering is the only way to humanely control the population. Handmade pet leis are sold - those funds go towards kitty care and food. Once you get home you can take a photo of your furbaby with the leis on and email it back, it'll be displayed at the shop. We plan on holding a photo session when we get back home. I purchased a really cool, black tie dyed shirt that is super soft and fits great. The quality of the shirt is top notch. The shop keeper is attentive and pleasant to chat with. Support the shop! Support the kitties! read more

Lovely, cozy little shop with lots of beautiful screen printed designs! If you don't find a piece you already like, they have all the equipment on hand right in the shop to custom print whatever combination you want on your choice of provided clothing. The woman running the place is a real gem, kind, friendly, and a quick hand with the prints. Quality of the art is perfect, comes out stark and clean and my shirts I have had for many years haven't faded an inch. Prices are plenty fair for hand/on-site printing and very affordable for a functional, long lasting souvenir! read more

The best shirts and best souvenir on Kauai! They have premade shirts available and you can also customize (pick the color, shirt style, design on front and back) and they'll make the shirt while you're there. The shirts are great quality, I've worn mine for years now back at home and can't wait to get more on my next trip! They also have a cute shop cat and sell mini lei's for pets, proceeds go to animal rescue/shelter. read more

I shopped today, visiting friends who live in Princeville. Highly recommend visiting this shop. Handmade craftsmanship jewelry, hand printed shirts, bags etc. Very nicely done, good quality fabrics and very reasonably priced beautifully made jewelry. All unique, locally made. Kind attention from staff and willing to let you choose colors and patterns if you want a pattern on a different item. read more

This is probably, no. This is the best gift shop in Kauai. I would say all Hawaii but i haven't been all over so that would t be fair. If you want a souvenir memento gift for anyone from Kauai you should 100% go by this shop. The owner hand screens the shirts for you, just chose your design. They have large print and small prints so you can create a combo. All of the designs are original and you cannot find them anywhere else in any other shop. This place has been in business since the late 80s, please support this spot. Locally made hand crafted designs. They also have a very cute cat, a shy cat, and a shy doggo. :) It's a win for everyone. Thank you for you time and skills. read more

Best t-shirt shop anywhere! Custom screens, hand-screened by a good looking chick! The quality of the t-shirts is high because they last forever. We come once a year and always stop by for shirts and original jewelry. Fun place and they love animals; cats, dogs, chickens...well maybe not chickens. Good prices too! read more

A must stop for your t-shirts, hats and other apparel. Custom printing options including choice of Hanes, Comfort Colors and other shirt producers. Purchase of collars or leis goes towards stray animals. What a lovely place! High quality hand screen printed at a very reasonable price. Talk to the owner for some wonderful stories. read more

Best t shirt shop in Kauai. Amazing vintage shirt screens that have been used for 30+ years that are so cool and unique.. I love this shop so much! What a gem! If you don't get it you don't get it, but for someone who loves graphics and good quality clothing it's worth it! Doesn't get better than this folks..ain't nobody finding these shirts at the ABC/Whaler's General Store! read more

Not only can you pick your color and style shirt, but you also pick your print...all made to order while you watch! 1000's of options!!! We LOVE that Melanie and company all work with animal rescue groups and lei proceeds 100% go towards that. IF you fly Alaska Airlines, at no cost to you, an adoptable dog or cat can be flown to a furrever home. The whole staff is friendly and you can even enjoy time with the "house" pup and felines. If you don't need a shirt, you can drop a few bucks into the Rescue Box near the register. And don't forget to ask about fostering a dog for a day!!!! Lastly, Melanie makes beautiful jewelry that she sells in the shop as well...don't miss out on this local art opportunity! read more

Best shirts!! The fact that you can customize the designs and get exactly what you want. This is better than shirts from abc stores.

We LOVED visiting Spinning Dolphin Design! The owner is so kind and welcoming. She is very talented and makes beautiful jewelry and clothes. My daughter loved meeting her dog Sadie and my son loves his new necklace. We highly recommend this store when visiting Kauai! read more

Long story short. We visited the Spinning Dolphin in Oct 1997 and I bought two awesome custom made Amoo-Ha tee shirts. Gave one to my dad. It turned into our favorite tee shirts! Well his turned into his dress tee shirt which he literally kept forever and mine was shot over the 23 years of heavy use. With time on my hands during the Covid lockdowns and my fading memory of the store's location, I searched online to see if I could find the shop. Eventually, Melanie returned my email that in fact she still had the Amoo-Ha screen to make more. Melanie and the Spinning Dolphin are awesome. They really worked hard for me and I am now restocked for the moment. Definitely stop by on the way around the island. You can get a ho hum beach tee shirt anywhere, but these handmade shirts are very unique! And yes they ship. A truly awesome shop with unique items. I am thrilled. If Melanie is there in maybe 5 years when we return, we will stop by. THANKS Culpeper, VA read more

I love this place. The owner & her sister are just wonderful. They helped me pick out a few perfect bracelets that she makes herself. I also bought T-shirts for my grandsons that I'm sure they'll live. This is the place to buy!!! read more

I found exactly what I was looking for thanks to Melanie. Chose my t-shirts, logos, fonts & colors and víola! Very pleasant shopping experience. Quick and easy. Silk screened right on the spot and put into an oven to dry, total time-maybe 5 minutes. Melanie was friendly and helpful and offered a few good suggestions. I was also impressed of her interest and compassion in Kauai's humane society. There were pictures of dogs and cats looking for good homes with their information on the counter to encourage adoptions, which is so great! One can also "rent" a dog for the day for fun excursions with tourists, which further adds to awareness of the humane society and encourages people to adopt. A win-win! Great store. Go buy some cool t-shirts! Aloha! read more

This place is so rad! My toddler got to pick out a shirt and unique design and watch the whole screen printing process. The owner was so kind to involve him in the process it made it so special and memorable. Really great if you're looking for a one-of-a-kind shirt and experience! read more

This place is amazing. I was feeling disappointed I couldn't find what I was looking for. I come in here and I'm greeted with a huge smile and the very kind lady helped me find the perfect shirt. This is one of my favorite shops of all time. They have so many t shirts in so many unique designs and pretty handmade jewelry as well. The best part for me though is that the owners are animal lovers and are really big into animal rescue on the island. I love their dog leis too, so cute! read more

We went into every shirt shop in Hanalei and this was by far our favorite. Great quality shirts and a ton of designs to choose from. I think I saw a sign that said the designs are hand drawn by local artists which is awesome. We bought one pigment dyed tank yesterday and will be back before we leave to get another. read more

Great store. Quality t-shirts and custom silk screening. Add to that very professional and accommodating owners made this a most rewarding stop. Another plus is owners have big hearts and have taken up the cause of assisting homeless animals with a fevered passion. Stop by, you won't be disappointed. read more

This is quite possibly my favorite T-shirt store in the world. They have an excellent selection of high quality T-shirts, and you can get them custom made: you can pick a design and color of shirt and they will silk-screen the design onto the shirt right in front of you. (This is actually kind of interesting to watch.) My wife and I, on our very first trip to Hawaii more than 30 years ago, stopped by this establishment and bought a shirt each and were very happy with them, so when we were recently in Kauai again (this time with my adult daughter and her husband) we made a point of stopping by; this time we bought 3 shirts each, and one for our daughter. Prices are a little high for T-shirts, but not ridiculous given the quality; you're not buying the "3 for ten dollars" junk you see in the tourist stores. If you're anywhere near Hanalei, drop by and look at their merchandise. read more

Great quality. Not your usual touristy T shirt shop. Bought my men's shark/oh shit scuba guy tank top there back in 2009. Still going strong. No fading or wearing out of design or shirt quality. Ditto on both purchased for my daughters of local rooster design on tank tops. Wish I purchased more. Would love if there's a website or some way to view additional selections...any way to do so? Hope to hear back from someone. Thx!!! read more
