Apart from the terrific name and the free badges, Spin Dizzy has a marvellous selection of second hand vinyl, a wealth of dance/hip hop new releases, and plenty of turntables so you can have a listen before you lay down your money. They know the value of things, but the stock isn't over-priced. It has the rarest and most desired records mounted on the wall, away from sticky fingers but within reach of (only if they are clean) adult hands.

I'm not one of those cool kids who knows all the latest and underground bands, can sing alone to the most obscure songs imaginable and actually listens to vinyl. I wish I was, but I'm not. Just not that cool... I do, however, love the feeling of flicking through album covers, the feeling of anticipation building, until suddenly it happens...you come across an absolute gem of a thing, memories come flooding back and your day is made. That's the kind of place that this is. Magic happens in this type of stall. It is small, and it does get bloody freezing in winter (it's as good as being outside), but it's also pretty rad man...and I do love me a good bargain...

Selling new and recycled records and cd's for over a decade now in the same store this place really is an awesome champion of good music and making music fun again! So many vinyl lovers are so serious about their music man and the sound man, that I end up walking out of a lot of music joints. But not hear. Come in and just pretend to me looking for something but really just listen to everybody talk about the records the are looking for, they have just found and that they love to spin. It is really refreshing and cool to hear! But apart from that you will find lots of different genres of music here from techno, to rock, jazz, sixties psych, blues, garage, new wave and rare 7 inches!! There is so much choice it is pure aural heaven and there is always something amazing and forgotten playing on the sound system to make the hours spent in here browsing an absolute pleasure!

While in Dublin, Ireland, there is a vintage quarter with a retro shops selling new and used vinyl,…read morebooks and collectibles. As we walked by, we saw a sign that said, "Secret Book & Record Store", with an arrow pointing into a deep narrow hallway with posters of advertisements covering the walls. These places are the great finds in Dublin. At the end of the hall was a large room filled with used books, vintage vinyl & new releases including CDs. The store was a frezy of customers flipping through the bins of vinyl to find that one great band from their past. I did find a few old 80s punk albums but still on a quest today to find an original GBH or Exploited cover.

I eventually discovered its existence on the recommendation of a friend, so I took myself along one day to get the 411, as it were. And I haven't looked back since. The Secret Book & Record Store is how you would make a shop of this type look like if you were making a film about a cool shopkeeper and the problems he has with his idiosyncratic love life (whoops, just checked IMDB and 'High Fidelity' has already been made. Ah pooh). If you have a particular book in mind and think you might go to SB&RS on the off-chance that they might have it: don't. This one is strictly for the rummagers, but a rummagers dream it certainly is, with piles of books stacked any oul' way. I don't go in for records much meself but they have them too. Tip-top shop.

I discovered this place via Yelp and I heard it named by some local record collector and when I visited I found it pretty cool even if I do not collect or even play retro games. What I liked in this store in the first was the attitude: lotsa records everywhere, lotsa turntables to try them by yourself, lotsa selection and fair prices. The place is little, is literally underground and the people working there are pretty young and they listen to very good music with old time stereo systems that sound ok especially for the place. Someone in Dublin said to me this businness is run by Trinity College students (and it could be considering, lucky them, they are pretty young: I met three of them, a guy looking like a young Mick Jagger, a very nice lady spinning great country infected records and the self called Boss I said before (he played Sufjan Steve records, so he shouldn't be that bad :-). The young Jagger played a super cool The Clean record after we had a talk about new psychedelia and paisley underground (I found a True West record for 5 euro, or 3 records for 12 euro department down below) and I recommended it to him to check it out. So, what I really like in this store, was diggin' in that "3 records for 12 euro department", were you can really find everything, a lot of any and every type of stuff in various configurations and conditions! Some have broken covers, some got terrible vinyl condition, then same, many, are good and they can be a real deal, then they still are like they presented them: second rate purchase for one reason or another and it needs someone like me to appreciate it and buy it, just if the price is reasonable. So the first time I was very happy becouse, after having all the fun in the store listen to those records, selecting them and finally choosing a big bunch of them to buy, I was greeted by the "young Mick Jagger guy" an appreciable, appreciated and expected discount. I went out of the store very happy and find the time to come back two or three hours before the fly to come back home few days later. Sadly "the young mick jagger" left the store before I completed my new selection to purchase and when it was time to pay there was "the boss" to the register and the attitude was completely different related with the price policy even if I said the other guy had a completely different approach and it was in that moment he explained to me he was the boss there. I let my selection there literally in his hands (no purchase) becouse it was impossible to find a fair agreement (and I was a bit disappointed) then I still recommend this place becouse it is still my fav place for records in Dublin (hoping to find the right guy at the register). PS: I was still lucky: pretty much what I was interested for (circa 30 records) was bought in my first visit, those additional 10 records I left at the register wasn't essential so "the boss" didn't impacted too much on my The Rage experience. No too much "rage" at the end. :-)
