Delicious food, the boss is very gentle, they hace organic cola( tast the same as the cola calipo…read moreice). Allergies are no problem at all. We were sotting next to the window and that was a fantastic choose: we had enough light to see each other, the plates and the rest of the restaurant. Also we could look out of the window and enjoy the view. The waiters were relax, no rushing, just helpful. The chicken was like you wish for: gently and juicy, almost melting on the tongue, like my love would say. My vegetables and hot spot lentils were exactly how it must be cooked! The food was a little old fashion but we even stay for a great dessert, because the main courses were so good!

The staff were lovely, and there was a great selection on the menu to choose from. I opted for a "light bite" of nachos with salsa, soured cream & salsa, and chicken. I have to be honest I was a little disappointed that the chicken was not freshly cooked chicken - it was strips of chicken from a packet that you would buy in a supermarket. Also, I am not sure that the salsa was freshly made. I like salsa fresh and chunky, however this was more sauce-like than the homemade salsa I love. We had our 1 year old daughter with us so asked for the kids menu. This was reasonably priced with 4 or 5 options to choose from. We chose a cheese and tomato pizza with salad for the little one. The pizza that arrived was extremely disappointing - clearly a kids frozen pizza with a rock hard base! When eating out I really expect more for my daughter and for myself - it is so easy to make a fresh kids pizza, even if just topping a crusty roll with freshly made tomato sauce and cheese. Also some freshly cooked chicken with homemade salsa would have made the world of difference to my dish. Howies Bistro - could do better!

I came pretty close to the opening and was able to select my choice for seats. I picked a table near the window for natural lighting. They have a table of a lot of tasty treats and while I didn't get a chance to try them all, I can attest to the scone being very tasty! I ordered the Cream Tea (I think I ordered the Lemon and Elderflower) which comes with a freshly baked homemade scone (I chose a fruit one), and a cup of tea €6.80. I decided to upgrade to a pot of tea (€7.75) and added a bowl of porridge (€5.50) with jam as I usually prefer savory breakfasts. This was more than enough to eat for one, but I just enjoy trying different items - does anyone else have this problem? lol I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here as the ambiance, food and tea were homey and intimate. This would be such a fun place to converse with girlfriends for tea time!

We had breakfast here on our first day in Edinburgh. It's cozy and the walls are covered with paintings, antique cups, and plates. To be honest the walls are quite chaotic but that's where the personality comes in. We ordered the eggs with toast and the full Scottish breakfast. Food was great, coffee hit the spot, and service was excellent. Even with the chaos they keep the place clean. Also, BEWARE they do not have hot sauce here LOL. I asked the server and she said "No, but it was worth a try to ask" Respect lol. We sat by the window and people watched and awed at the beautiful architecture of Edinburgh. It's a chill spot to rest and refuel. Would love to come back for their afternoon tea!

It's such a shame for a small village to have hardly any facilities available to passing trade our group was glad to see this place, that has one side that is used as an antique shop and the other for a tea room. The cafe has not got a hot food licence so can only offer sandwiches and a bowl of soup if you are lucky, we where at least able to get a good cup of tea and something to eat to recharge our batteries. My friend had a sandwich with the only choice available being cheese and tomato, but there is a good selection of home baking on display. The lady that served us was nice and chatty, that made our visit a pleasant experience.

Not only did the owners stay open a little later for us they also allowed us to bring in our wee dog and we were then treated to an assortment of homemade soup, freshly baked cakes and teas and coffees all at a very reasonable price. The two ladies running the shop are just lovely - really friendly and chatty added to the whole experience and you are surrounded by beautiful, ornate vintage homeware and oddities. It's like a step back in time this little gem of a place where your tea is served in beautiful china tea cups and saucers in a homely enviroment. Definitely worth stopping in if you are passing through / in the area.

We visited Aviemore back in June and a friend suggested we go here. A bakery within a nursery in the Highlands? Sounded interesting to me! It was pretty easy to find from Aviemore, about a 10 minute drive. When we arrived there was plenty of parking on the left hand side of the road, opposite the entrance. To get to the bakery (called The Potting Shed) you walk through a beautiful nursery, the tea rooms are at the back. You can sit in the main tea room area or in a side room where you can eat cake and take in a spot of birdwatching as well. Sadly this area was full but there was plenty of seats for us in the tea room. As we sat down, the staff laid out the cakes on the counter (they keep them in the fridge until customers come in). Honestly, they laid out about 10 cakes on the counter for us to drool over (not literally). We all took it in turns picking out a piece of cake and ordering tea, and the treats were quickly delivered to us. They even had a good range of gluten free selections and the cake itself was heavenly. This was a really lovely stop off in the Highlands and I would highly recommend it if you're anywhere in the area.

This place has been named as one of Britain's Top 10 cake shops by the well respected Dan Lepard! Last time I was here I was pregnant and suffering with hypermesis gravidarium (extreme morning sickness), and wasn't up to sampling any cake. However I thoroughly enjoyed watching the red squirrels and the birds from the viewing area which overlooks the wildlife feeding station. Today I finally got to sample some cake. There was a huge variety of cakes on offer. I plumped for plain old Chocolate Cake. On tasting, this cake was far from plain - it was deliciously light and moist, not too rich and had the most beautiful shiny chocolate glaze on top, finished off with a dollop of cream. I could have eaten this twice! I may have to fit in another visit before we head back to Glasgow at the end of the week!
