Spikey Ty is our neighborhood gem where regulars go for their weekly sushi. Located on Coral Ridge Drive in Coral Springs. Great dining spot for families, couples and people grabbing take out. Sushi is fresh and one of our favorite is the Seafood house special fried rice and Shrimp Pad Thai. Portions are big size enough for two or you can take home left overs. This spot is small, clean and very low key with a simple decor nothing fancy. We feel comfortable and relaxed everytime we come here. No need to dress fancy. Staff is super friendly, efficient and keeps things moving. Always a great spot whenever we want some Thai food or Japanese sushi rolls. read more

I stopped by Spikey Ty for take out dinner while I was in Coral Springs for the weekend, and was happy with the taste and temperature of my two entrees. The staff were very nice, and service was prompt. The inside of the restaurant was charming, and if it wasn't so late (I ordered 30 minutes before closing) I'd probably enjoy dining in. I tried their Orange Tofu (fried tofu in orange sauce) with brown rice and Chicken Pad Thai, both seasoned well and delicious. Highly recommend! read more

This Chinese restaurant has a very comfortable atmosphere, even though the space is small, the tables are large and the seats are comfortable. Everything here is very clean, especially the kitchen, all the appliances are stainless steel and sterilized, the bathroom is cleaned every time someone uses it (This is impressive) And about the food... The best period! Freshest Sushi and honestly we order from here weekly if not daily it's so great! The rolls are larger than most restaurants. The great thing that I always liked from here is when you ask for Soy they give you more than enough, want extra Wasabi?? Then they give you more than enough! Initially tried this place because it is close to my house, the first time I went I got a sushi roll and the Singapore noodles. The sushi was okay, but it was the Singapore noodles that got me hooked! I probably order them 1 time a week now. Always quick and friendly service! read more

the food was great. We ordered a happy family meal , wonton, egg drop, miso soups, evergreen rolls, and a kids katsu meal. I will say the only odd parts were that the katsu came grilled? typically it's breaded, but not in this case. and the wonton was very salty, so salty you couldn't taste what kind of broth it was. I have been here so many times and cannot believe I have never left a review or shared photos. The owner Allen and his family are great! They are out to make sure their customers are pleased. We have ordered party boats numerous times, and all of our guests rant and rave over every bite! Prices are fair and we have never bit into anything that didn't taste great. Glad they are near by. We have purchased several times a large sushi boat for get togethers. They are beautiful, creative and everyone is always impressed with the display. Another place that's so close to home we just never go there. But maybe if you like good pad Thai and you like good chicken with green beans, your in luck. The Won-Ton soup tastes like its Beef based, but its good, and some might not notice. The Pad Thai was excellent. Never enough nuts for my taste, but delicious, the rice noodles were cooked perfectly, and the dish had a good balance of flavor. The Chicken with green beans was awesome. This is a pan-asian joint in a strip mall on University. They have about 8-9 tables to dine in. Very clean dining room. There are a few chairs to sit at the bar. They have chinese, japanese, and thai items. Props to Spikey Ty- I wanted a late lunch during the 3-5pm block that most asian restaurants are closed, but score! I ordered a spicy tuna salad and crab pockets for app. The iceberg lettuce doesn't look like much, but it worked well with this recipe. The whole salad was drizzled with some sort of chili oil that put the "spicy" in it. There was some wakame mixed in too. The crab pockets were uniquely served with something that tasted like a sweet mayo, instead of a red sweet and sour sauce that most places do. These actually tasted and had texture to crab (idk if it was imitation or not). Very good. For main I got the Peanut Chicken, which is battered chicken pieces deep fried and tossed in a peanut sauce. The chicken was cooked well- not soggy, nor overdone. The peanut sauce hit the sauce. Overall a great meal. The couple who owns it are very nice people. This will be my neighborhood go-to. read more

We have gotten food from this little joint for couple years now. I have to say their food has gone way down hill along with their service. First off the food. Don't order the thai food. My husband got the pad thai the other day and it was not edible. How can you mess up pad thai?! The Chinese food was ok if you stick with veggie ones. Let's talk about service. I ordered delivery one day and 3 days later I noticed they charged me duplicate with different amount. The "manager" dodged my calls multiple times and it literally took me 4 days of phone tag before they would issue me the refund (which was mistake on their part). I didn't like this place as much as I wish I wanted to. My friend and I split the lunch special sesame chicken, which was great, and 2 rolls. The chicken was lightly breaded breast meat and had a very good sauce on it. The rolls weren't tightly packed so they were loose and fell apart, and the seaweed was very chewy. Our server also didn't bring us chopsticks or napkins so we had to get up to ask for them. I'd go back to eat the Chinese food but probably wouldn't order sushi again. read more

I came here on recommendation from Yelpers. You disappoint me more than this restaurant did. You are supposed to be reliable sources of information. Spikey Ty is a Cantonese Chinese owned takeout attempting to produce Japanese and basic Thai cuisine with some Chinese-Am stuff. They focus on sushi, I would never consider ordering sushi here or at another takeout place. We ordered Hot and Sour soup. Sufficiently peppery, all vegetarian prep, lots of tofu, a lot of black fungus mushroom, no pork. Had red bell pepper in it, I wish they said so on the menu because I'm not a fan and would have ordered it without. By the way, there is no pork at all on the menu unless it is Chinese roast pork and it is used in an appetizer, egg foo young, noodles or the ribs. They don't have the kind of pork for stir fry/wok dishes used in Thai or Chinese cuisine. They have menu sections for beef, chicken and shrimp. No pork. It's only the most important animal protein in Asia, let alone in Thai and Chinese culture, but ok. My wife ordered a Basil Beef from the Thai section. Beef was tough and gristly. Virtually no basil in it. The veg (mostly zucchini and bell pepper) were fresh, but really no sauce in it, was like a dry stir fry. I decided to go to the small Chinese-Am section thinking they would do a good job with the ownership being Cantonese -- so I ordered a benchmark dish, Roast Pork Egg Foo Young. The patties themselves are good, heavy on onions. The sauce however is disgusting, the flavor on the stock they used was off with a weird seasoning, I think a Chinese 5 spice, perhaps too much of it. Gravy is of the flour thickened variety and it came super thick and lumpy, it should have been blended in. Waste of a meal. Pissed. Do not waste your time. Much better options in the immediate area. I've eaten in the restaurant often and have never had a problem. Their food is good. I like their Singapore noodles in particular. This review is based on ordering takeout. Which is basically a crap shoot. This is the second time they have not prepared this dish correctly. There are supposed to be no green peppers. Only red. It's all green peppers. Which I detest. And it's not spicy. I even took a picture. I called to complain. They told me she had taken the order correct but the person packing it got it wrong. Really ? Lame excuse. She told me they could make me another one but it would be a while before the driver could get there. Never mind. I'll pick out the nasty green peppers and eat the dish.
