She is not only an excellent internist but also a skilled diagnostician. Knowing she responds to our calls, even during off hours, gives us peace of mind. We're also grateful to Michele, the office manager. My husband has a fear of needles, and when he goes into the office for his lab work, Michele makes him feel as comfortable as possible. We highly recommend Dr. Zimmerman's practice. No matter the illness, our family is pleased with her care.

I saw 2 different providers and needless to say I was not at all happy with the care I received. So the search continued... I had my first appointment with Dr. Marie Monticciolo in Rocky Hill yesterday. I felt that I needed to complete a review for the entire process, start to finish. From the time I called to schedule my appointment until the time I scheduled my next appointment was completely fabulous!! The staff at the desk were SO friendly. Dr. Marie Monticciolo also was so friendly... and knowledgeable...and thorough! She took me into her office first, and went through all of my active diagnoses and medications... then took me across the hall to the exam room and did a full assessment. I needed to make a follow up appointment per her request for something she was concerned about. She gave me some papers I'd need from her to have a few things done like blood work, and I was on my way!! The appointment took about an hour and I sincerely feel positive! She made me extremely comfortable and listened to!! I would highly recommend her to anyone whose looking for a PCP. A+ from office staff to Dr. Marie Monticciolo !!! Thank you all so much!!I finally found a new doctor!!!!

Both her and her…read morehusband (Richard Monticciolo, MD) run an internal medicine practice where one on one patient care is not seen as an inconvenience but as an integral part of their treatment philosophy. Prior to initiating treatment with Dr. Monticciolo, I was treated with several physicians through Hartford Medical Group. However, I was finding it increasingly hard to get an appointment, and once I did I found that I spent longer in the waiting room than actually having a consult with my physician. Many times I was not even seen by an M.D. but his or her PA. Regardless of who saw me, half the appointment was spent reviewing my medical history before getting to why I was actually there. I felt that I was a co-pay and not a patient and upon that realization I knew it was time for a change. Since I have begun to see Dr. Monticciolo, I have ALWAYS been treated by her. The practice is small (just her and her husband) and there is not a lot of frills to their office. You will not find your medical records stored electronically or fancy diagnostic tools, but what you will find is a doctor that knows her patients, is willing to talk (yes - talk) with them in her office before the examination, and refer you to another physician if she feels it is necessary. My medical records may be handwritten but I know that they have all been meticulously written by Dr. Monticciolo who - from the routine wellness visit to more serious matters - will give me sound medical advice and excellent patient care.

Aside from not having the doctors they…read moreadvertise, the Practice Manager, who seems to be on a power trip, is a nasty, miserable person who actually refused to have someone take my blood pressure despite the fact that my cardiologist who is a part of this practice, wanted my blood pressure taken because it had been running so high. She told me "this is not a walk-in clinic." Well, I AM A PATIENT AND THERE WAS A SNAFU ABOUT WHERE MY ACTUAL APPOINTMENT WAS. She pushed back and pushed back, insisting I schedule another appointment when there was nothing available for more than a week. There was not one other patient in the office, it was a rainy day, it was getting late, and the other office was more than an hour away. I felt sick, I was dizzy, my head was pounding and there was no way I could get in a car and drive all that way just to get my blood pressure taken and they should have known better than to refuse me care. I ended up going to an Urgent Care close by, who was shocked that they hadn't taken my pressure, did it immediately, and told me it was so high I needed to either go to the ER or contact my cardiologist to have my medication adjusted asap because I was in a hypertensive state. I'm sure some of that was a result of the stress this woman caused me, and IMO the doctor could have gotten on the phone and spoken to them, which he didn't do, nor did he respond to my call after I left the urgent care for hours. They advertise that they have all kinds of specialists, when in fact they have only one internist who I saw only once; the other one or two times I was seen by the PA who was competent but not an MD. The rest of the doctors are there sporadically if at all; most of them are actually in Riverhead, not exactly around the corner for someone who lives in the East End and which certainly doesn't serve the area that this office is supposedly handling. If you can get an appointment, the wait times are excessive; I have waited upwards of an hour to see someone only to be told they were running an additional 45 minutes late; at that point I had to leave because I didn't want to sit in a waiting room filled w sick people during Covid and I had other commitments. The office is beautiful and I know they dropped a ton of money into it because I designed hospitals and healthcare facilities for 30 years. They should have taken all that money and put it into hiring competent staff. I used to have a lot of respect for NYU. My father was on the staff of NYU his whole life, my cousin is an orthopedic surgeon affiliated with NYU Langone and many of my clients were off site practices associated w the hospital. This office is a total disappointment since we in the Hamptons are hard pressed to find good medical care.
