What an unexpected surprise in Pigeon Forge of all places. They have a "Vegetarian Menu" section of their menu where vegan options are further noted as "V". Gluten free is also noted, We got the Madu Vada, donut like savory appetizer which came with two vegan sauces. For our mains we got Aaloo Gobi Masala and Mixed Vegetable which both came with Basmati Rice. Also included in the order was Tandoori Roti (not gf) They have "Today's Special Dosa's" (not everyday, if they do, a menu for them will be on the table). We've been twice so far and once they had them and once they did not. We've had the same server both times and he is very knowledgeable in vegan accommodations and ensures our meals, including sauces and the like are vegan for us. On our last visit, he gave us a dessert "on the house" and rushed back to tell us it wasn't vegan because it had butter or ghee in it and whisked it away. He offered us a free coke in its place, but we politely declined. We have 1st gen Indian friends who have trained us on Indian food, and the food is very traditional and delicious. The spice level is just right, but if you're not used to he heat in Indian food, you may want to request a lower spice level. The decor is pictures of Indian spices and Indian geography, it's well done. It's nice to have an Indian restaurant of this quality in East TN.

Ah, the food is delicious, absolutely delicious. The rice was light. Our waiter was very nice. The restaurant is clean and attractive.

Thank you for "dinning" (sic) with us. See the receipt. It's dining. The service was as close to as good as you're going to get - they were fast, mostly friendly, and pretty knowledgeable. We ate a lot of Indian food and this place was pretty good in comparison to many of the others and that's around the globe from New Jersey to India to Sri Lanka to London and all over including the food we make at home. I wouldn't say it was the best but it was pretty good. We went for Gobi Manchurian and Pollock paneer along with a garlic naan. The non didn't have its usual crispiness and there wasn't as much garlic as we are used to but it was still pretty good. As with some of the other commenters, the prices were pretty high we felt. This is a heavy tourist area at a touristy time of year so I guess some of that is to be expected. The location was reasonably comfortable in the noise level wasn't too bad though we were there at off hours. It certainly seemed clean and off then the bathrooms were also maintained.

Some of THE best Indian food in the area! Their naan is incredible, the service was nice and quick, even with a large family in front of us. We were grateful to have nice servers too.

Service was amazing, ordered on the phone and got the Chicken Tikka Masala and garlic naan to go. Inside the restaurant it smelt amazing, great portions, enough to feed two-three people. Loved it!

I would highly recommend ordering from their website and dining in! Place was busy so this would save your and the restaurants time. Food was good. But the staff needs a lot of work on etiquettes! I most likely wouldn't visit again, since I was just on vacation and was looking for Indian food for parents. Place was clean.

This is by far the best Indian restaurant I've ever been to. The Samosa Chat is the best I've ever had. Everything was delicious, came out super fast and the staff was so kind. If you are in Pigeon Forge and you like Indian you have to come!

This is a halal restaurant which is very clean inside. My family and I just went to the smoky mountains and ran across this restaurant. They have lots of certifications, clean bathrooms and a great set up. The staff is very attentive and served us as soon as we sat in. We got chicken tikka masala, chicken tikka, onion pakora, tomato soup, daal fry, chicken vinda

This restaurant saved us after leaving Dollywood late as they were open until 10pm. Despite still being packed at 9:30pm, they snuck us in on a table for two. They were also very busy with takeout orders. We enjoyed Chicken Kodai, Mixed Veg and Mango Lassis. Service was swift and polite, in fact it was noticeable that the entire restaurant was well run, efficient and the staff worked well as a team. We were the only non-Indian patrons in the restaurant. We took that as a sign that the food must be authentic and good. :) Free parking right outside.

Everything about this restaurant is amazing! The customer service is outstanding and the food is just to die for. We have eaten here multiple times. Sometimes setting inside and once for take out. There hasn't been a thing we've tried that isn't spectacular!

the food here is always amazing. this is our 2nd or 3rd time visiting. we got it togo this year when we visited and it was incredible still. we ordered lamb tikka masala. paneer chilli, chicken saag, roti, & garlic naan. the chicken saag was the star of the show for me. spiced perfectly. the naan is some of the best i've had. since we ordered in i can't speak for the ambiance or service but when we dined in in 2024 it was great service and a good ambiance but now very busy. for the togo they packaged it so well. it was all taped extra so nothing spilled. can't wait to go again on our next visit

Food is great. Will surely come back. There are a lot of Indian clients eating there so you can tell their people like the dishes. Great location with parking too. Service is fast and friendly.

We ordered 3 mains chicken tikka masala, a vegetarian masala and can't think what the third was but it was mainly okra in the dish and a very creamy taste my wife loved it. I've been disappointed by every single popular recommendation. I can get much better pancakes, steaks, biscuits, ice cream, donuts, and pork in Chicago. This place was a much welcomed change from the usual tourist long line, overhyped fare. The flavors were incredible. The chicken was tender. The lentils were delicious. The cilantro jasmine rice was a bit dryer than I like my rice to be and needed the sauce to work, but I was cutting back on my carb intake, so I didn't finish the huge portion of rice they gave me. Oh and the food comes a bit spicy. Maybe that's way locals aren't patronizing this place, but if you can tolerate the spice, this place is must try! Think a more spicy and saucy version of chipotle for anyone who's never tried Indian food before. Service was standard, atmosphere was roomy and clean, I would even go so far as to say bare. They may benefit from adding some art work to the walls. Bathrooms were standard as well. You wouldn't know you were in a fast casual Indian restaurant if it weren't for the music playing and the smell of spice when you enter. I was here for about 40 minutes and I was the only customer the entire time at 1:00pm. Please come check this place out and let me know if you think I'm wrong

To be honest, I kinda lost interest. I'm a creature of habit, and when I noticed our "go to" Indian food restaurant had changed name and management, I lost interest. Then last night, I again looked for a local Indian food restaurant that delivered because I LOVE INDIAN FOOD!! Sadly, my wife not so much. But that's another story lol.. So I got on my Yelp app and up pops Taj Indian Bistro. I checked the menu, had my wife have a look, and she found a dish that she thought she might like. And for whatever reason, DoorDash delivery was offering free delivery, so I thought "what the heck" I'll give them a shot. I have to say, I was skeptical about a few things on their menu. Do they serve dishes with rice? Or do I have to add it to the order? Are the portions small? None of those questions were answered in the delivery menu. But I gave all of the above a shot. Then: THE FOOD WE ORDERED WAS EXCELLENT! Of course rice was included. The Onion bhaji was amazing and almost too big of an order for one person! The Garlic Naan bread was perfect, and our main course dishes were TOP NOTCH (my wife didn't care for hers, typical.) After her mentioning that "It's Ok..) I tried it and it WAS ALSO DELICIOUS !! If I had anything negative to add, it was DoorDash. I personally HATE delivery services. They're all a major ripoff. But Taj is my new favorite Indian restaurant. We'll dine in next time.

The korma was creamy with a great amount of spice and a bit of nuttiness. Great rounded tomato flavor in the masala. I was literally licking the bowl. I also loved the warm garlic naan bread (extra charge), which was perfect to sop up every drop. The issue I had was that there were very few pieces of chicken and no vegetables, so basically $18 for basmati rice, sauce, and a few pieces of protein is a tough sell. These folks know how to cook Indian flavors though!

So, while waiting we went upstairs for unusual cocktails: tamarind margarita and Kashmiri sunset. Both delicious and tasted of Indian spices. And because it's Friday, the remarkable vegetable Pani puris were available. Wow: we ate five and could have just eaten those for dinner. Go on Friday or Saturday! But we headed downstairs and ordered three items: Matchstick okra: One of the most unusual foods I've had in a restaurant. Simply delicious. Holy smokes! Uttapam: a vegetable pancake that was very tasty. Sort of like a fritter. Butter chicken: accompanied by a tray of add-ons, this was just a wonderful hearty dish. The atmosphere is loud and bright, with lots of colors. But it is not so loud that you can't have a conversation. Saag - lip smacking good, sloppy jai - full of flavor, prawn and kabob scrumptiously charred. Carrot cake and ice cream a perfect ending. If I ever come back Asheville I'm definitely eating here again. Thanks to all the hard work, your love shined today at lunch.
