The store has new owners... while I greatly miss my friends who worked there, the new owners have made some lovely changes. Most noticeable is the new lighting in the store, MUCH brighter. Also a large increase in inventory. More tasty treats than ever. As an old white dude who grew up in rural Minnesota, most of the items there are not necessarily things I grew up eating.. but happily my adventurous life has me loving a broad mix of tastes and treats and this is THE place to go! One of my favorite ethnic grocery stores in town if you are looking for ingredients to cook authentic Indian food. They've expanded in the last year or so to include a much larger frozen section. Great place to buy spices of all sorts, dried lentils and beans, rice, and other ingredients for Indian cooking Be sure to try fresh curry leaves in the produce section and they also carry a nice selection of Indian sweets in a case up at the register. Absolutely wonderful store the selection is insane and on top of that they are extremely well priced cheaper in most cases than regular grocery stores and today I grabbed some of their fresh curry leaves looks like they grow them locally and they were only a dollar! You can get stuff from here that is even hard to find online and for way cheaper I found my Zed Black Mogra Dhoop here 12 boxes for only 9.99 I cannot even find a website that will sell and ship these to American. 100% recommend and I will be back again and again. read more

If you are looking for bulk spices this is your place. Prices are fair and the staff is pretty friendly and helpful. I enjoyed just walking down the aisles. Folks this was our first trip to this amazing Indian market and here's how it went...First off lot's of parking...Now for the good stuff...When you walk in it's like walking into heaven if you love to cook Indian food such as myself...Isles and isles of goodies...Spices, cookware, vegetables, art work, religious stuff and so much more...I felt like a caveman who woke up in the 21 century and this was my first experience of this magnitude...Wow is all I can say!...Friendly staff as well...We will be back for sure...Try this place out...I give it 5 stars and for me that means it was totally awesome... read more

My favorite Indian grocery store. They have a good level of variety, reasonable prices, and I love getting their Samosas that they sell on Sundays. Recently I cooked a dish using their Shahi Paneer packet, a block of paneer, cottage cheese, and pumpkin seeds and I was pleased with the outcome (photo). read more

Chander Sud, owner of the many India House restaurants in the area and the small store of that name on Clinton, opened this new enterprise in 2010 and it immediately became the best Indian grocery store in the Rochester community and beyond. The selection is without comparison and best of all is their fresh vegetable and fruit selection. They have everything you can imagine when it comes to Indian groceries; every kind of dried spice and sauces/pickles, more rice and flour than you've probably seen in any one place before, frozen and prepared foods, cooking oils and ghee of course, beverages like tea, coffee, and juices, lots of snack options and an entire section of decorative items and incense. I definitely have to say Spice Bazaar is my favorite Indian grocery in the greater Rochester area. It's on Jefferson road relatively close to the Park Point Plaza and South Town, but it has such a wide variety of everything Indian at such amazing prices that it's the most perfect place to get any Indian ingredient you might need. They have an entire aisle dedicated to JUST SPICES and in large amounts, usually a fresh Indian bakery with classic Indian fudges/dessert-like items in front with the cash register, you can buy saffron at amazing prices up front, and really a large selection of fresh produce you can't find anywhere else in Rochester - things like karela, chayote, mung beans, okra, and more. They have a wide selection of frozen products, pastes, jams, rare baking supplies (pomegranate syrup and molasses, special Indian colorings), foreign snacks, and different kinds of daal and rice - there is absolutely no doubt in my mind when I call it a wonderful bazaar of plenty! read more

Absolutely the BEST Indian grocery in Rochester! Beautiful vegetables and herbs at wonderful prices! And, all the dry goods, spices, rices, chutneys & pickles, flours, frozen foods, etc., etc., etc, you could ever need for Indian cooking. I have shopped at most of the Indian groceries in the area and it is my opinion that Spice Bazaar has the largest, best selection and the lowest prices. Spize Bazaar is owned and operated by Chander Sud, who has provided Rochester with the best Indian food and shopping for as long as I can remember. He is always friendly and helpful and just a nice person. It's also great to see his wife, Shobha there on Saturdays. She is always a delight. If you are at all interested in cooking Indian food, learning about Indian food or just want to visit a different kind of market, you must go to Spice Bazaar! Hey, even if you're not ready to dive in and make your first batch of chhole, you could always pick up a delicious, ripe mango! (Who doesn't like a good mango?) Plus, you will be supporting local business at the same time. (P.S. The Sud family has opened up the most delicious Indian restaurant right next door to Spice Bazaar. It's called Raj Mahal. This is a great store and does sell everything! Being British, I am missing a great curry, I have tested several Indian restaurants in the area and although good, they just don't quite live up to expectations fortunately I have a 'chicken curry' signature dish so I can cook this when I need a curry fix This store is a great find and sells every kind of spice you can imagine as well as pre made curry powders such as madras, dupiaza etc they sell frozen samosas and other Indian snacks, fresh vegetables and also the pots, pans and dishes you may require to serve them in! They even sell some good old British staples such as cordial and custard powder!! The staff are exceptionally helpful and will search high and low to find anything you ask for. However, I have purchased a couple of items from the British section and frozen section that have been past their 'sell by' date. This has not put me off buying from there it has just made me a little more vigilant when picking things up. read more

They have a comprehensive selection as well as prepared sweets and on weekends, fresh samosas. Probably more of a 4.5 star, but it didn't stand above the other stores /quite/ as much as a 5-star. As others have said, it's well-stocked with all the standard Indian dry and frozen goods; it's comparable in scope to a Patel Bros in a major city. My main complaint is that you can only by rice and certain varieties of dal in 10-pound bags, but that's standard for these places. I'd go back when I run out of supplies. read more

This is my favorite Indian grocer in the area. The prices are reasonable and I am always walking out with something new. Wegmans has been expanding its Indian food selection, but this place is still king. My best tip about this place: Pick up any spices you can find here. Whole black peppercorns are so cheap here as well as other common spices like cumin and coriander. read more

Undoubtedly the best Indian grocery store in the entire NY state. Was surprised with the sheer variety of stuff kept ranging from vegetables , to grocery, to sweets, to incense sticks, they have a unmatched variety of a lot of stuff. That kind of variety is difficult to find even in a grocery store in INDIA !!!! Its a Paradise for Indian shoppers !!! Prices are reasonable too. The owner appeared to be very courteous as well !
