After England's disappointment yesterday, the only highlight of my day was the curry. Enough said.

Meal was cooked very well, my Sri Lankan Chicken Tikka was so tender it melted in the mouth. The Naan Bread - soft fluffy and delicious. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. Surroundings were very comfortable, nicely decorated and clean. We will certainly be going again next time we're in Newcastle.
Ordered a takeaway over the telephone and was ready exactly on time…read more The tins were so fully of food that some on the liquid spilled out of the bag and made a bit of a mess when we unloaded the bag. Plenty of great food that was full of flavours and still piping hot after a 10 minute journey home. The sag alloo was just out of this world and didn't last too long. Everyone was more than happy with the quality and a return visit is defiantly on the books and more than likely eating in. The nans whilst quite tasty were wafer thin and a little disappointing. Overall a 4* rating due to the mess and nans.

I ate too many starters..... and could only manage one main. They are open until 23:00, and we starter to eat at about 21:30. Some of the starters were replenished, but some of the mains needed a refill.... Well, a refill for those that had room. But I'd understand why they wouldn't be filling them up at that time of night. The furniture was very basic, but that's not what you've gone there for.... It all worked out to be about £20 per head, including a drink (some had two). There's such a wide selection that I couldn't do it justice in this review. Give it a go, you won't be disappointed.

Oh this cafe is a lovely peaceful haven in what looks to be quite a posh bit of Newcastle. We…read morestopped off here for some cakey sustenance before a long drive home. They have a great selection of vegan cakes - there were are least 4 to choose from, as well as other non-vegan ones, and I went for the Victoria Sponge. I've not had Victoria Sponge for years! If I'm honest it's because I thought a vegan version would be heavy and stodgy, but this one was beautifully light and airy, and the delicate tastes of vanilla and strawberries were just perfect. My other half had lemon poppyseed - I had a cheeky wee bite and it was also delicious. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere in the cafe, it's light and airy feeling, and the woman working there was really friendly. So it was nice to chill out and watch the world go by in the street outside. And eat delicious cake. If I'm in Newcastle again, I'll definitely be back at Sky Apple Cafe. And not just for cake. It's a vegetarian cafe, and they look to be able to customise a lot of the dishes for vegans. It's open for breakfast, lunch and dinner and I could probably eat there quite happily all day - from a full fry up breakfast, complete with 'fakin' bacon' (haha!) through to a hummus burrito for dinner - that just sounds delicious!

Although the menu is limited I am confident nosy people would easily find something they liked. The dessert was just fabulous and definately would make me wanna go back there! The staff were nice and it is reasonably priced. The reason I'm not giving it a 5 * is because I thought it was a bit too claustrophobic in there and the service was slightly too slow. (But only slightly!!)
Awesome vegan Lemon & Poppyseed cake! :-)
Falafel wrap. Delicious!

Visited: 17/1/17 - A take away…read more Food Standards Rating: 3/5 Not VAT Registered I ordered: Chicken Tikka Madras - £6.95 Boiled Rice - £2.90 Cobra Beer (Large) 3.95 It all arrived for me to take away within 10 minutes. I barely had time to read the local newspaper, more of a glance... The sauce was very spicy, so that was good. However, the chicken was hard, hardly chewable. I threw half of it away. The rice was steaming hot, and fluffy. The only good things about what I ordered was the Cobra beer. nicely chilled. For the students they offer 30% discount on Wednesdays. I will not be returning. Clearly it is frozen meat they use, and precooked tossed into a wok, or frying pan to heat up, and then served.
Who'd have thunk that Arch 2 Brewpub was housing some of the best Indian flavors in the Toon? Great…read moreatmosphere, to relax in the pub with a pint (they also have benches and fire pits in the courtyard) and then fill your hunger cravings with a tray of curry! From the first bite, we could tell it was special. We tried the Paneer Karahi, Kashimi Takka Daal, Nadan Chicken Curry, and Kerala Beef. Everything came with cardamom turmeric rice, naan bread, and little pickle things. We also got a chicken tikka skewer with yoghurt sauce. Chicken Tikka was great - it's just a wee skewer, for one person to have a snack, but it was just delicious with the yoghurt sauce and made me wonder why I don't order it more often. But the flavors of the curries were absolutely spot-on, rich and complex and addictive. The naan bread was delicious, the rice was abundant and fragrant, and you get a lot of food for your money. My only complaint is that the meat curries don't have enough meat, and the paneer curry didn't have enough paneer. All the dishes were strong on flavor, but the sauce-to-protein ratio was surprisingly unbalanced. Where are the big chunks of juicy chicken? It's weird, because everything else seems so perfectly executed. Even so, the sauce was divine and we lapped it up with our rice and bread. But just a little tweak and it would be perfect. They are really on to something here, can't wait to come back!
