I remember this place having like 7 different types of nan. The cheese nan that I got was good, but I don't really know how much cheese was in the bread. I'm a sucker for a good piece of nan, and this place had some of the best that I've had. I remember this place had a large menu. There were several Indian classics, like Chicken Tikka and different types of masala, but the Bangladeshi influence was also prominent with the various kebabs offered too. I was dining alone, so I got the appetizer portion of lamb tikka. It wasn't very large--seven nuggets of a lamb kebab. It wasn't very tender--maybe just slightly overcooked. But, the flavor was great! Look at it this way, the lack of tenderness actually was a good thing, because it forced me to chew the pieces longer, therefore savouring the flavor longer. The lamb wasn't drenched in sauce, and made for good finger food while I walked. The meal came with a side salad (not so great finger food). The total was 4.60 GBP. If I had gotten a proper meal instead of just an appetizer and a nan (somewhere between 4-8 GBP for main dishes, a couple more GBP for the rice, if memory serves), then I would have definitely been in the ££ range. The place isn't far away from the South Gosforth Metro station. The nan is amazing, the appetizer was unremarkable, but I'd go back to try a main course dish, any time!

But this isn't a review for The Last Days of the Raj, because it's expensive for what you get. I'd argue the food is not so much higher in quality than the Monsun, a couple of minutes walk away. Admittedly the Monsun does nothing the shake the impression you're sat in the dining room of a modern semi-detached. And the soft drinks are poured out of two litre bottles from the corner shop. But what about the food? It's really rather good, and certainly matches up to anything the Raj can sink down your neck. The bhajis are crispy throughout, no floury gooey nonsense in the middle, the prawn puri melts in your mouth. The tandoori butter chicken teases your mouth before every bite. The scenery isn't quite as grand as Raj, but then neither are the prices. And the takeaway special on Sunday night is a bargain - £10 will feed two of you well enough.

Medium: Murgh Khorai (Chicken breast in a blend of ground spices including garlic and ginger with fresh coriander.) Hot: Murgh Achari (Chicken breast with garlic, ginger, fresh coriander and aromatic Bangladeshi pickles.) Very hot: Gosht Jolpai (Tender lamb cooked with olives, garlic, ginger and fresh coriander, with a special blend of Bengali spices.) The meat is always of a very high quality and exceedingly tender. They also do not skimp on the meat (or vegetables). They also have quite a good selection of vegetarian mains my favourite being Sabzi Roshun (Fresh mixed vegetables with lots of garlic, ginger and fresh coriander). There's a 15% discount for takeaways too! They're very child friendly but it's never overrun with children either so you can enjoy a nice quiet meal.

The meal was nice however the service was slow. I requested a pint of larger and a coke after our starter and some 25 minutes later had to ask again as I was still waiting for the drinks I had ordered. The delay between courses was about 20 minutes. We arrived at 6.45pm and left at 9.05pm. Our total bill was £60.45 that is for 4 people. Seating arrangements are a little to close as you feel that you are invading on other diners space however they are in the process of expanding into the property next door and as we are to believe the name will be changing. We're trying new places out using the just-eat.co.uk website and based upon the reviews on the just-eat site, I decided to give this Cinnamon place a go. Wasn't expecting it to be fab - fairly decent and delivered on a Friday in less than an hour was all we needed. Boy were we surprised - the food was GREAT! Arrived hot and exactly at the time they forecasted, and the quality was excellent. We had a Chicken Chaat on Puri starter which was really flavourful and succulent, if only a wee bit oily. We followed this up with 2 mains - a Balti Chicken Tikka and a Ceylon Chicken Tikka. Both were huge portions and the big chunks of chicken breast were very tender and well cooked. The sauces were perfectly spicy and not remotely oily or overcooked. Really impressed with the quality of the food we got. The price tag was a bit high - about £19 for one starter, two mains and a boiled rice delivered - but given the meal was pretty much restaurant quality and I didn't have to clean up a mess afterwards, no complaints here!
