At first we were disappointed as both our starters - the lamb chops and veggie samosas - were average at best with both being rather dry and scrawny. But then the entrees arrived and the Spice House was redeemed. The lamb vindaloo was properly spiced and perfectly delicious. The sag paneer, cucumber raita, and royal tandoor were equally wonderful. Rice, pappadam and a couple of nan rounded out our meal and we went home very happy. The service was good and the decor was modern and clean if a bit uninspired. One caveat. Our children ordered ginger ales and we were served the smallest bottles I have ever seen - 125ml (4 oz) of warm soda each. I'm guessing they are only used as mixers. And the only desserts on offer were ice creams (i.e. no Indian desserts such as kheer or galab jamun).

The Manager would not refund our money as "it was not there policy" The two bad takeaway meals we got, were both chicken Jalferzy. Jalfrezy on there menu: "is a dish where the main ingredient (Chicken) is stir fried with onions and capsicum in a spicy sauce." Our meal consisted of two half inch thick slices of raw onion with a spicy sauce poured over and slices of some cold unrecognisable meat laid on top plus some undercooked rice. It was a long way off what was described on the menu. The manager said "that is the way we do jalfrezy dishes" I was offered two free meals, but I will not be taken up the offer. Would you eat at a place after you have complained about the bad food? The Taste of India sells the worst Indian food I have ever tasted. Disgusting - never again.
