It took a few years of trail and error but I am finally a fan of Costco. The store has some great…read moredeals and is usually not completely insane although it has those times and days to avoid, primarily weekends .

I visit this location on the regular, although during the weeknights is your best bet if you don't want to fight the weekend crowds. If I do visit on the weekends, I don't plan on a quick trip and if I can help it, I'll park on the street so I'm limited to just the few items I need and eliminate the need for cart and trying to find parking. Samples are fun and the food court is an option for nights you don't have time to cook. There always seems to be new things you need but it's not guaranteed to be there next time either so if you see something you like, grab it! Everything from clothes to electronics to housewares to produce to alcohol to gift cards and everything in-between. There isn't much you can't get at Costco! Customer service is fast and friendly but do everyone a favor and download the app for faster returns so you can always have your membership card and receipts at the ready. Gas prices are also competitive for the area and I've found Costco to be especially cost-effective during travel to other states/ countries! Travel deals, car rentals, car insurance, even home improvement projects are discounted, great quality and backed by Costco. I've had stellar experiences with the optical department as well, with prices well below what I normally pay for eye glasses and for glasses with everything you can imagine too! There isn't much I don't love about Costco and though I don't have the need for quantity as I did before, it's hard for me to give up the savings and variety of services & product they offer.

First, to other LGBT folks of Brookfield, this is a great and safe place. Craft places tending…read moretoward older crowds can be pretty hit or miss, and this is definitely a hit. This place is awesome. If you've only ever used yarn from places like Michaels or hobby lobby, learning how to use good quality yarn might intimidate you. Take the plunge. Get a little more familiar with yarn sizes and materials (cotton, alpaca, wool). That's really all you need to start buying beautiful, long lasting, and soft yarns. You'll thank yourself when your yarn isn't made out of plastic anymore! The yarn is more expensive than the plastic products at craft shops; however, there is a good range of less-to-more pricey products. You can get 100 grams of superb wool yarn for $13, or you can get 100 grams of a silk and linen mix for $37. (PS, they sell berroco berroco, and I used their half wool/half alpaca yarn for my sweaters. It's $14 per 100 grams!) They also do sell some plastics (a nylon mix is very useful in socks), it's just not my style personally. The worst thing about this place is that it is very knitting oriented, kind of leaving crochet in the dust, especially in their book selection (there's like 14 knitting books and only ONE crochet book). Still, even as someone who only crochets, I love it. It is worth your time. Also, no shame to people who buy craft store yarns for money purposes! Pursue your passions in a way that works for you!

I used to be a customer of Cream City Yarn, but unfortunately, my experiences left me feeling…read moreanything but welcome. On multiple visits, I walked into the store without even being acknowledged by the owner. On one occasion, I asked about ordering a pom-pom in a color that wasn't in stock. The request seemed to be an inconvenience, so I said, "Oh, don't bother if it's too much trouble." Her response was simply "OK," and she walked away. No attempt to help, no alternative offered, and certainly no sense that my business mattered. At a yarn crawl event held at a brewery, the experience wasn't much different. The owner sat off to the side with little apparent engagement. Several knitters I spoke with didn't even realize she was there, despite her involvement in the event. For a business built around a community-oriented hobby, that lack of engagement was disappointing. More recently, I had an unpleasant interaction on TikTok with a Cream City Yarn employee who was publicly discouraging participation in the Greater Milwaukee Knitting Guild, disparaging its leadership, and encouraging others to "spread the word." Rather than respecting that people can share a love of knitting without sharing every personal belief, the comments struck me as divisive rather than welcoming. I subsequently learned that the owner had been made aware of these comments and defended the employee's right to express those opinions. While everyone is entitled to their beliefs, I found that response disappointing given the business's stated commitment to fostering a welcoming and inclusive community. What troubles me most is the disconnect between the values Cream City Yarn promotes and what I've personally experienced. Inclusivity shouldn't be selective, and kindness shouldn't depend on whether someone shares your opinions. Between my experiences as a customer and these more recent interactions, I've decided this isn't a business I want to support.

I extended my trip specifically for a visit to Cival, and IT WAS WORTH IT!…read more The gals have a laidback, fun vibe. They're around if you need them and will also offer to show you the piece you're looking at (instead of waiting around for you to ask). They have their jewelry production right in the back and offer to change a length/clasp/gemstone. I found an amazing vintage watch fob converted into a bracelet, but I didn't care for the chain. The gals offered me a few different vintage chain options and edited the piece on the spot! She was patient when it didn't fit and kindly added an extra link to the newly edited piece. That extra mile is what makes any business stand out from the rest, and I very much appreciated it! There were 4 different gals working and each of them were a part of my store experience. I love that vibe - a nice cross between slumber party vibe, girly pop vibe and artsy vibe. Most of their pieces are sterling silver or brass, but they have a handful of pieces in 14k and gold fill. I got a mixture of both! Their sweet spot price point is "affordable" while some pieces are definitely spendy. I've got my eye on a vintage wedding band for $3k. The store is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays! Plenty of street parking in front! Yes they have a bathroom that's roomy and clean (and chic!)

Also absolutely loved the vibe of the store. I went to visit the new location today - it's beautiful don't get me wrong, but totally different vibe. I wouldn't even know I was in the same store. Inventory was much more limited, and most of it high end, out of my price range and not the every day pieces that I loved so much. I had admired the higher end custom pieces at the old location, but sad that they are now the primary inventory at the new store. I really hope with time they will have more variety and bring a bit of the old vibe back.

They informed me that the couch would have to be repaired inside my house from their "professional contractor." The contractor informed me he had the required materials to repair the couch. He came over and "repaired" my couch, or so he thought. It was a terrible job and looked nothing like the new couch I ordered. The leather was bunched up and wrinkles all over. I asked the "professional contractor" if he could fix the problem and he said it wasn't in his time frame. Pictures were taken again and sent to Midwest Wholesale furniture. I demanded a new couch because I didn't pay for a new couch to be ripped open and repaired twice. The owner said there was nothing he could do, but send the contractor back out to "see" if he could fix the problem. He arrived a week and half later to try and repair the couch. We showed him the problems and he said "I don't see a problem with anything", but he proceeded anyways to rip open my couch again. In the middle of the repair, the contractor stated "the reason it was so bad before was because that was his first time working on a couch like mine." The contractor finished his project and let us know he was done. The couch definitely looked better, but nowhere near the quality of a brand new one from the factory. Corners definitely not stretched out all the way. I took pictures and waited from Midwest Wholesale furniture to contact me and ask me about the second repair. Not a single phone call, so I decided to report Midwest Wholesale Furniture to the Better Business Bureau. I'm still waiting for an outcome from this stressful ordeal. I would never spend my money at Midwest Wholesale Furniture ever again. I will tell all my friends, family, and anyone I know to never spend money there.
