We trained together a total of 4 months before my training partner moved back to DC. Here's my report on this adventure. Several things went really well: I started to feel stronger and happier almost immediately. My ass woke up from a long sleep and started looking really fun under my clothes. I looked forward to seeing Patrick even on mornings when I was cranky and tired. (Patrick is really kind, smart, funny and irreverent - all things I like in any human being, but especially one who I'm paying to boss me around.) As our work went on I felt myself have more energy, more confidence and more strength. A LOT more strength. Patrick was also very responsive to my request to find me a training partner, so as to defer the cost of training. He brought me together with this woman B, who is now a really good friend. Hiring a trainer is super pricey, but you get stronger, happier, and fitter very, very quickly. You also get a host of intangibles. I found myself wearing summer clothes confidently and smiling at people more. I met a man walking down the street and now I have a sexy boyfriend. If someone had asked me "How much money would you spend to feel sexy, happy, strong and attract a great man?" I would have thought of a number that was easily 10X more than I paid Patrick. For real. My left knee had started to give me grief, which isn't good since I lead a rather active lifestyle when it comes to my hobbies. Snowboarding, rock climbing, hiking, and jogging are all activities I do regularly - I can't even fathom what it'd be like if I could no longer do the things I love. Rather than just "shrug it off" and assume my leg will fix itself, I talked to Pat about some stretches or things I could do to help ease the discomfort. He recommended I come in for a session and I did. He put me through some alignment tests and introduced me to "rolling" (which is amazing.) Two weeks in (now on my third week) my knee is yet to give me the same grief it was giving me just last month. Overall I feel stronger, more confident, and I've realized the benefit of using my own body weight to develop good technique and balance. Kettlebells were always a strange thing to me, but now I'm starting to get it. They're fun and challenging and definitely different. I've improved my own workouts at my own gym thanks to Pat and am learning all sorts of things about my body. Pat is easy to work with and will cater to your personal needs, and will push you to limits you didn't even know you could reach. I highly recommend him if you're looking for a truly unique and talented personal trainer. I also have to add that Pat likes good music!

I've made many attempts throughout my life - whether it was going to the gym on my own, signing up for personal training, trying different diets, or even doing trials for different types of workout programs like kickboxing classes. Nothing stuck, or it felt too overwhelming. After managing to make some changes on my own when it came to my diet and shedding a little weight, I'm super happy to have found Team Rahsaan to go a step further. My friend recommended their HIIT classes, and I've been attending now for 5-6 days a week. I was afraid I'd stick out like a sore thumb or that I wouldn't be able to keep up compared to everyone else, but I've never feel like that. None of the trainers make you feel like you don't belong or that you cant achieve something, and they even offer alternative methods for some exercises to ease the difficulty if you're still building up your stamina. For the past year I tried to stick to diet changes only to lose weight because I loathed working out, but now I somehow wake up every day at 5:30 am with a little excitement (no lie) to get to these classes, because I feel so good and accomplished afterwards. I'm excited to see where I can go from here!

I appreciate the Off Peak class pricing in this economy, and I tend to book those classes since they're cheaper. These classes are often taught by Krystal and Sunny, and they've quickly become my favorites! They're so patient with newer members. I don't like being touched by instructors during my workouts when they're trying to correct my form, and Krystal+Sunny are able to tell me verbally how to correct my form without touching me. Right when I first walked in, I was welcomed warmly by the instructor and notified it was my first class. She showed me around the machine beforehand to get familiar. You might be confused with some of the names they yell out but you have others to watch and the instructor likes to demonstrate on the ground as well. The instructors are all so sweet, motivating without putting pressure. I feel like I created a small HeartCore community with them. 1000/10 recommend. Now, I try coming in every Saturday morning when time permits for a different type of challenge.

The staff was patient with me and the paperwork was pretty straightforward. Once inside the exam room, a medical assistant asked questions and made sure I was comfortable before the doctor came in. The doctor looked through the notes and asked questions that made me think they actually paid attention. They talked about a few possible explanations and gave me an idea of what kind of progress to look for. They seemed to weigh out options without sounding unsure. The visit wasn't perfect but it gave me a better picture of what I might be dealing with. The environment was clean and they seemed to care about keeping things running on time without rushing through patients. I'll keep this office in mind for the future.

They're also very friendly and welcoming to newcomers. I do wish there were more times as the schedule is a bit limited. However, there are some cool equipment that you typically don't see a regular gyms. I think there's a lot of promotions, so I would recommend signing up when they have a deal. They might also offer free trials for newbies before you commit too!

    Recently tried a 2-week free trial here (which is quite generous of them) and it's basically 3 to 4…read morerounds of circuit training. You typically run through 4 different exercises in 1 circuit and repeat it 3x before moving on to the next 4. Sometimes they mix up the pattern every now and then, so it might not always be a 3x4 pattern. You're on for 40 seconds, and rest for 12-15 seconds, so it's pretty manageable and time goes by FAST. All the coaches are very friendly and engaging. It seems like most members have been going for quite some time now, so they have a pretty solid community. People are generally all very supportive of one another. It's also a family-run business. The only cons are that the schedule is a bit limited, especially on Fridays-Sundays. Also pricing is kind of hidden and you have to reach out to them in order to find out more info.
