Wrote a review back in November of '22. I mentioned that we were recent transplants from Southern California and I Sam and his crew were helping me with the rather large transition to southern yard care. Well, here we are in July '24 and Spenos has been a terrific constant companion. Last month I filled in a rather large open area with new perennials. Sam made the recommendations of what to plant and the landscaping crew did a great job executing the plan. Every plant seems healthy and prosperous. The heat and humidity has taken a toll on my cool season grass so I'm looking forward to a fall aeration and reseeding! I've really enjoyed working with Sam and Speno's Lawn Care. I found them through Yelp's request a quote and am so glad I did. First off, Sam does not mess around when it comes to responding to requests. So often service providers just don't get back to you. Sam quickly got back to me and we set up a time for him to come out for a quote. Since that original project he's already come out for an expansion project as well. We weren't happy with where some of the trees were planted, when I reached out to Sam he responded right away and came out within a few days to move the trees. Unfortunately bunnies ate away at some of our plantings, I reached out to Sam again and he was able to fit me back onto the schedule to come out again for us to purchase replacements. Sam is very clear about what everything will cost and is willinging to work with you to make adjustments if the quote comes in too high. We hired Speno's to do a big job: trim all of our schrubs, remove some bushes, put down mulch, trim back many trees that were brushing our roof and haul all of the waste away. What happened was, I contacted Speno's through their website and they promptly responded to my request. They visited my place to size up the job and gave me a reasonable quote. A couple of weeks later, the crew showed up right on time and did a really great job. I will be hiring them again and, in fact, I already did. Word to the wise: since Speno's does good work, they are busy. Make sure you call well in advance of when you want the work done so you can get on their schedule. read more

I will start by saying that I wish I had before and after pictures, but unfortunately I don't. I found Speno's through Yelp. We had a BIG yard project. Very overgrown and needed a good clean up. This company was quick to respond to my messages, and were very professional while talking. They came to the house and gave us an estimate, we never felt obligated to use them once the estimate was given. Since the estimate seemed reasonable we scheduled. We booked a few weeks out since it was a large project. We kept in communication about coming to the house as well. Guess they don't need the work right now. 10 days later from original request for a quote and still nothing. I am surprised, figured the other similar review was a "one off" but nope! Have other quotes lined up in case this guy flakes. Poor customer service. Response: The facts remain. You text me early morning SIX days later saying "on my way." I'm not sure why you would think that would be okay to do without confirming my availability a week later!? Again, when I asked to actually schedule a date and time, another week goes by with no response. Reach out to Sam, it takes just a few minutes to get a reply and he'll be honest and professional. After helping me with my sod, Sam is going to be my go-to for any future lawn care and landscaping needs. Our new build house had sod laid down, but it was laid on top of packed clay, straight from construction to sod. Our lawn had no drainage, no soil, and our grass was dead after just a few months. I reached out to Sam on Yelp and received a reply within 10 minutes! He came out that week to do a walk-around of our property and get me an estimate. Within a week, he and his team were in my yard, ripping up the old sod (which wasn't hard, there were no roots). They laid down a new layer of rich compost and put new sod on top. With his team already here, I asked them to re-mulch and it was a cinch! From the day I reached out to him to project completion was less than two weeks! In addition to helping me with my sod, Sam was honest and flexible. After doing a walk-around, he let me know that my backyard could probably be saved with some aerating and fertilizing. No need to charge for unnecessary re-sod. Furthermore, Sam and his team were careful with our underground internet cable (which was a priority for me, it's tough getting Spectrum back out to replace cable), worked around it, then reburied under my new sod and mulch. I thoroughly recommend Sam. He was professional, polite, honest, and thorough. read more

During the pre-work walk thru he described everything they were going to do and answered all my questions in just the right amount of detail. Crew showed up right on time and went to work. Stripped off the weed layer dirt, removed a few roots. and hauled it all away. Level graded all the dips and bumps and prepped with a layer of conditioned soil. Extra care getting the edges right -- it's 90% curved edges. Finished lawn looks amazing. Cleaned up everything nicely. Efficient and professional. Sam kept in touch during the whole process. I waited a year before writing this review to see if the pavers they installed would hold up and the work is good! I took off 1 star because I asked for a tiny bit of extra work afterwards (paid of course) but I think the job was too small for them to come out do cut and put in 2 more pavers so they kept putting off my requests before I gave up. Also, this is more my fault than theirs, but I would recommend being very specific about the work you want completed. I asked for the pavers to be paved to a certain point and they did not install pavers completely flush to the end of my fence, i.e. they paved as close to the fence as they could with full pavers but did not cut any pavers to make the walkway flush. The work they originally performed was good. read more
