Spencer the cool store. Have all kinds of of amazing things. It's neat and clean. Would recommend to all.

These 2 workers (one had short colorful hair, and the other had short brown curly hair) were very rude and aggressive towards me. It all happened when i was looking at this canister and i dropped the lid on accident, i immediately look around for it and leave the canister on the shelf whilst looking for it. The 2 female workers notice it happening and they start saying to one another "what the fuck is wrong with her" then they approached me and asked "where is it?" and "what canister was it" and other questions while having a very passive aggressive attitude. I kept my mouth shut and remained polite and even apologized for it happening. The item was not broken in any way and if it was i would have made sure to pay for it since the damage would have been my fault. After this they kept following me around the store and looking at the canister? This interaction was very confusing to me since i had done no wrong but they "assumed so" which is not professional whatsoever. They kept making remarks like "oh it was on the shelf". These workers looked like they were in there mid 20s and I myself is way younger then them so I felt very uncomfortable and anxious during this situation because it has never happened to me. These 2 girls should not be working here i've seen many other reviews on them in particular saying they have the same experience and personally if you are rude to customers and don't know how to handle simple accidents then simply don't work in retail. read more

Not sure why I loved this store so much as a kid. Maybe the randomness of it. The cartoonishness. The gag gifts, magic tricks and fake poo. The black lights and psychedelic posters. Certainly all of that played a part. But as an adult I quickly learned the entire back half of the store is literally a sex shop. Think The Red Door or Priscilla McCall's. Think of those highway signs that say "adult fantasy store". There are a lot of those things in here and shame on my parents for letting me come in here! These days it's all the same. Lots of holiday-specific items. Gifts and tchotchkes that you never knew you needed. Fandom t-shirts, mugs, shot glasses, wallets, stickers, lanyards, posters and on and on. For anime and popular shows. There are piercings for about any place one can go on your body. In the back, as ever, there's lots of lingerie, toys and raunchier gag gifts. (Furry handcuffs anybody?) In the end it just amazes me that this store keeps kicking. I guess they're good at keeping with the times. After all, St. Paddy's Day is right around the corner. Spencer's has changed. I wouldn't let anyone younger than a teenager in here now, with the whole wall of sex toys and lingerie available for sale. As well, lots of drug and booze references that younger ones will hopefully not understand. But for the older teenagers and the young adults? Yep, it's all cool. Looking for gag gifts? How about black light posters? Or T-shirts with snark on them? Beer funnels and shot glasses and beer helmets. Yep, it's here. Also some of the things you might expect for a head shop. read more

May have already gotten to the age when items in Spencers seem cool to me (which is a big bummer). I went in here the other day just looking for a clever t-shirt and what I found was a bit shocking. Yes, maybe cool and funny to a, say, 13 year old... but I was borderline offended by some of the stuff. To each his/her own I guess. If I ever need black-lights/strobes or a good "gag" gift, this is definitely the place to go. I don't know if it was just me, but their little "sex" corner has gown into a couple of aisles since I remember from my high school days. Not that I'm a prude or anything like that (well, maybe not by choice ;) ) but you gotta have some major cajones to wear some of the t-shirts that scream, "look at me and question my intelligence level please!" read more

This place is so much fun! They have the best novelty gifts, graphic tees, piercings, smoking paraphernalia, and adult toys. Really light and playful atmosphere free of judgmental stares or awkward glances. Staff are super knowledgeable and sweet. read more

I've outgrown Spencer's. I'd been a Spencer's semi regular for about 15 years but I'd not set foot in one since I was maybe 30 or so. I went in the other day and realized that it's the same exact shit (maybe a little more sex toys and lingerie than I remember) that I once thought to be the cutting edge of individuality and rebellion... yes, without realizing the freakin' irony! If you're 25 or under you might like the pop culture roundhouse kick to the face you'll receive the second you walk in. Retro-cool, Ironic-cool, Kid-cool, Jap-cool, big-ass gauges, intricate (yet cheap) gothic/punk jewerly, black lights, stonerwear (oh, if only Marley were alive to see what we've done with his image/ideals), strobe lights, outdated Emo shit, Kiss shot glasses, etc is your order of the day. The employees are mostly kids old enough to have their eyebrows and noses pierces (and ears gauged) but not get any actual tattoos who are, for the most part, actually pleasant and helpful. Spencer's is suprisingly alive and kicking. Remember going to the poster section as a teen and looking at Farrah Faucet, Christy Brinkley, Cheryl Tiegs and the St. Pauli Girl? I do. Or the aisle with naughty cards and "toys"? I do. This is a big store for Spencer's. Plenty to look at and browse. I've outgrown pretty much 80% of the stuff and the prices are pretty high. They do run sales and have good clearance. Pretty much a store for people who are young, cool and want/need attention (none of those describe me anymore unfortunately). My go to place for gag birthday gifts/over the hill merchandise. Not the best place for little kids unless you want them exposed to penis shaped pillows or lingerie. I think I still have the ASIA velcro wallet I bought at a Spencer's decades ago... in my back pocket. LOL! read more

There's plenty of gag gifts and oddities. Spencers is aimed at the junior high kids and college freshmen gearing up for their spring break drunkapalooza at Myrtle Beach. There's some fun toys, alcohol accessories, posters, hats, shirts, and blah blah blah. If your kids are young...and they can read...I wouldn't bring them in here. read more
