I attended a FREE screening back in June of 2012…read more About a month later, I received a bill from Quest Diagnostics for lab work that was advertised to be FREE (or paid for by Specialists in Urology. Quest says that because the bill originated from Specialists in Urology, they would have to be the ones to correct the issue. I have spoken to several people at SIU and have many times been told that this would be taken care of. I have also been promised that I would receive a letter stating the error so I could send to the credit companies in an effort to correct this black-eye on my credit. After many promises, nothing ever gets corrected! Why should it be so difficult to fix such a mistake? If this simple mistake is unable to be fixed, I would not recommend using this company in the fear of a more serious problem that could occur and not be corrected.

A very personable surgeon whose bedside manner allows most to overlook his lack of skill and…read moreexperience, especially in regard to proper infection care for open fractures. Please allow me to share a brief summary of my story. I fell from a ladder, sustaining a compound tib/fib ankle fracture, where my tibia literally planted in the dirt (an important fact to remember). Dr. Nemitz installed an XFix to prepare my bones for plating. A day later, I was discharged from Lee Memorial and sent home with no antibiotics. Over the next 2+ weeks, I called his office nearly every day and he even saw me in the office a few times to address my concerns regarding possible infection and constant fevers. The responses summarized: "it's normal", even though the wound was very red and oozing puss. Dr. Nemitz finally agreed the wound looked "angry", and agreed to perform a debridement surgery. During pre-OP, he again made his skepticism known by stating, "I don't care if the Infectious Disease team laughs at me when the cultures come back negative". The cultures came back double positive for soil-based bacteria. While being treated for infection, Dr. Nemitz installed the plates. After months of expected healing, he determined I was a non-union (bone never started to heal). I believe he finally realized his error and he quickly rushed me to Dr. Leach. After speaking to him, I decided to get a more experienced 2nd opinion outside the Ortho Specialists practice. Through research, I found Dr. Sanders at Florida Orthopedic Institute (FOI). During my 1st surgery at Tampa General Hospital (TGH), Dr. Sanders found leaves, grass, and soil still embedded in my tissue near the tibia. The cultures at TGH also found a 3rd bacteria which likely wasn't found because Dr. Nemitz didn't take deep enough samples, as he didn't believe I had an infection. The infection degraded over 2 inches of my tibia, and took 6 more surgeries, and a bone graft, to correct the mistakes made by Dr. Nemitz and Lee Memorial. 10 months later, I was finally able to start walking again. While I still have months of rehab and healing to go, I am grateful to Dr. Sanders and the Tampa General team. I'll leave you with the words of Dr. Sanders, when he first met me. After only a few seconds of examining my Xrays, he asked: "who did this to you?". Had I not gone for the 2nd opinion, I likely would have lost my lower leg, to infection.

Dr. Puetro takes his time to explain things to me thoroughly to the extent where he'll pull out diaphragms. I also really appreciate that he will suggest holistic options through his medicine practice. He does prescribe me medication for certain health issues but he will also always suggest food that contains the nutrients that I need before he suggests supplements. He takes his time with me and takes my health seriously. I highly recommend Dr. Puetro and so thankful to him and his staff.

I completely was abandoned by Dr Guata after he preformed 2 surgeries on me in less than a year…read more After supposedly surgically "repairing" my bladder & placing my bladder in a sling - less than 6 months later extreme difficulty urinating. Dr G stated he would preform a 2nd exploratory surgery to see what was going on - oh & also said he would throw in a mini-tummy tuck (that I paid out of pocket $5K in total) Absolute nightmare!! This practice performs surgery at a surgical center (not hospital) - I highly suggest stay away from doctors not utilizing a hospital. tI was slapped awake and kicked to the curb. Immediately was not well! Diagnosed with three separate infections at surgical site -from tummy tuck preformed by a urologist, referred (kicked down the road) to injection Disease, Soon after developed a massive abdominal seroma & multiple infections. The initial seroma drain yielded 2 liters of fluid in my lower abdomen. - Dr Guata could offer no help or support. No other doctors wanted to "Clean up the mess " - repeatedly ask to have my records sent to Cleveland Clinic we're ignored - I feel lucky to have survived this nightmare Stay away!
