One step inside and I took in the laid-back atmosphere and ample seating, and then locked in on the menu. Vietnamese Coffee, from the Summer Menu, called my name, and I enjoyed the shaken espresso that included sweetened condensed milk. Other espresso drinks, matcha, and chai and bottled drinks are also available. I believe the co-owner was running the shop this day. He took care of our and other customers' orders and answered questions in a knowledgeable yet laid-back way, appropriate for the Winston-Salem area. And he also cleaned up the place! My family and I spent time in the relaxing atmosphere, hanging out, playing a table game, and reading. Even the playlist was laid-back. Note: Most coffee drinks are made with Black and White roasted beans out of Raleigh-Durham.

They're located between downtown and Old Salem and fun fact: Sayso serves Black and White Coffee, which is based in Raleigh, NC! I occasionally visit this spot and the times that I've been here never disappoints. The barista has always been welcoming and helpful. What I like about Sayso is that they make their own syrups, which is a bonus for me! They even create special drinks for every season as well. I tried the Jasmine Flash Brew for their Spring '26 menu and it was great! They also carry some local baked goods from Bobby Boy Bakeshop, too.

We came in on an unseasonably chilly May morning nursing a bit of a hangover. Krankies was delightfully warm with plenty of seating. I got the Hangover Cure biscuit, which had eggs, fried chicken, bacon, cheese, and gravy on the side. I also got a hot latte and then topped it off with a cinnamon roll. My partner got the sausage, egg, and cheese biscuit with an iced latte. The lattes: go with a flavored one if you grab a coffee here. Their plain latte was not that good but their vanilla latte was very good. Biscuits: WOW! The Hangover Cure is hefty with plenty of biscuit to go around - I had some to take home with me. It was absolutely everything I needed after a night of imbibing with friends. My partner also enjoyed his biscuit. Cinnamon roll: very good! They had a variety of baked goods to choose from. Definitely worth the add. All in all, I think we spent $40, which feels reasonable for the amount and quality of food we received. Definitely worth a stop in if you happen to be in the area.

Definitely enjoy the sandwiches and the fact that they are huge. Love the variety of craft coffee beverages. I would also suggest grabbing the wedges with the green sauce. I got that and the classic sandwich with the gravy, which I did not really notice affect the flavor profile. Next time I'm in town, i'm going for something with the blueberry biscuit.

The service is a little bit transactional, but it was also busy during our visit. It took about 25 minutes to receive our order, so my coffee was gone before the food arrived. The BAT was a bit underwhelming, a bit dry and lacked much substance for the $10 price tag. It really needed more arugula and tomatoes to make it refreshing. It tasted like two slices of toast with crispy bacon. Good toast, good bacon, but some more veggies would have been nice. The Breakfast Burrito we ordered with house made tofu was loaded with potatoes, cheese, eggs and topped with salsa. It was spicy and filling, well worth the trip here. We ordered a cup of coffee, but weren't sure of their refill policy on drip coffee, but none were offered even though we sat at the counter. We also had a Salted Butter Pie which was delicious. It reminded me of pecan pie, without the pecans. Overall a solid first visit. We will be back to try that Collard Melt and Fancy Bologna Sandwich.

The high wooden bookshelves and designated reading tables give it literary cachet, but The Remedy leans more cozy than stuffy. There's plenty of seating inside and out, and this would be as good a place for a group as it would be for partaking solo. Part coffeeshop and part bar, The Remedy also offers baked goods, flatbreads and charcuterie alongside its coffees, teas, and cocktails. I passed on the food (it seemed overpriced), but the coffee left no room for complaint. I went with a marshmallow iced latte. It was prepared quickly, and it made for a smooth sip: not too sweet and no acidity. Winston-Salem has no shortage of places to grab a drink of the caffeinated or alcoholic varieties, but it's hard to beat the atmosphere that The Remedy has to offer.

I felt like I interrupted the gentlemen's conversation by trying to order and they were not very friendly. The veggie quiche was over $7 and kind of small. I was still hungry. It was good though. I'll add that I did not try the coffee (which apparently is a staple) There are so many OTHER breakfast and coffee spots in the city... I'll just say that.
