Well, I am still angry about the affront to good taste levied by them against the entire southern United States when they took away fresh brewed tea, and put "Gold Peak" in its place. Since that happened, I visit Sheetz about 10% as much as I used to, because the ability to stop in for a fresh tea in my travels was so nice. McDonald's has since scooped up the honor of my quickie tea, and probably that of others. This has cost Sheetz more than just the price of a tea... it has led to less fill-ups, snacks, everything. I hope they will reconsider. And honestly... Gold Peak? It's entire name is an antonym. Anyway, rant over. Other than my personal vendetta, this new design Sheetz has employed is fantastic. It all makes sense. The cafe area being near where you order, and also where you'd stop for a quick sit to eat. The counters for food and coffee both look very attractive. The staff here is new, but very pleasant as they get used to their new jobs. There is a beer cave at this location, and of course the requisite walls of canned and bottle bevvies. Plenty of snacks for your taste, lots of coffee, and the aforementioned "made to order" food items. On this day, it was a strange time of day, and I had not had a thing to eat. I didn't want to totally spoil dinner a few hours later, so I wanted a cheap snacky value meal thing. Their hot dog combo is very plain, but reliable. It now comes with two (very small, but not quite mini) hot dogs, 5 chicky nuggies because they do that now, and a very small fry... plus a fountain beverage. That's a deal at 5 bucks but you dont get to customize anything. You'll get mustard and ketchup on the hot dog like a child, sorry if you like anything else. No customization. The food was hot and fast, and tasted decent, which is absolutely the ceiling of my expectations here. This location is very near my house, and I would visit much more often if SHEETZ WOULD BRING BACK FRESH BREWED TEA.

Go visit this place while you can cause when places like this are gone then they are gone forever. I've ate here quite a bit and I can tell you a few things. It's clean. The 2 ladies running the grill have always had on gloves and I've watched them make sandwiches. No problems here with cleanliness. Keep in mind this is an older grill in a gas station. It's not 5 star dining. They have sandwiches and specials of the day. If you're on the road or working and need a quick bite this is your place. There are a few booths for dining in but mostly do orders to go. You can also call in your order. The prices are great. Very affordable. The BLT will cost you $3.09 out the door. Tater tots $1.59. These tots are so good. Be sure to get the seasoned salt. Always cooked up perfectly golden brown. This place reminds me of old gas station grills I used to see in the late 70's and early 80's. The convenience store/gas station itself wasn't very impressive but the chicken makes up for it. There is a small parking area for large vehicles. I spent a few nights parked in that parking lot. They also had no problems with us( transport drivers) drivers staging trucks for other drivers so they could pick up the trucks for delivery in the middle of the night. You can see the cook in the front making your food. It is a pleasant surprise to say the least. FYI, Crossroads Mart is the name of the gas station. It was also, and still may be, one of the popular gas stations and convenience stores for High Point Central High School students. I know it was during the time I was a student there. I'd regularly see my classmates at Smitty's or go there with them. In high school, I used to go to Smitty's to fill up my parents' cars and use their credit cards to pay for gas. I always wondered if the cashiers inside would question me about using credit cards that weren't mine, but they never did. This was back in the days when pumps didn't have credit card readers on them. Also, IIRC, this was a Union 76 gas station then (late 90s), but the convenience store was still Smitty's. Today and for years now, the gas station is an "E Stop" (eSTOP) which I've never seen anywhere else. This is a small station with eight pumps. Despite the bigger-name gas stations and convenience stores that have come and gone on the catty-corner properties (e.g. BP, Sheetz) Smitty's has persevered.
