Still, this place made the trip worthwhile and I enjoyed a nice hot chocolate (and complimentary Halloween-themed shortbread cookie!). The barista was pleasant and answered our questions about the environs. We only checked out the bookstore section briefly though it did have an excellent selection, and even had a typewriter set up for aspiring typists to play around with. As a typewriter owner, it's always cool to see opportunities for the next generation to get a chance to work with these machines (if only so they can appreciate how much easier word processors are when it comes to editing!) I would gladly come back here again, and hopefully take more time to check out the books as well. Overall: 4.5/5 stars ---- Pros: - Great drinks. - Pleasant staff. - Quiet place to do work or look for a new book to dive into. - Easy street parking nearby. Every year I travel to Huntington and spend a few days. Grindstone has been my go-to stop for locally roasted coffee and coffee drinks. The family that owns it is really nice and I usually get to have a quick chat with the Dad if he's working. Two mochas in this weekend and I am happy and caffeinated. Caffeine is my favorite drug, particularly from Grindstone. Last year I had the grilled cheese and tomato basil. This year I had an amazing bread pudding! That was the best warm bread pudding with a few shots of whipped cream on top.
