Let me start by saying this is the first time ever writing a negative yelp review. Since this app…read morecame out I have never been so displeased with a service that I have taken time out of my day to tell someone how awful they are, and to warn others to steer clear. I am not that guy that sends his steak back if it's over cooked, or complains about the sheets not being changed every night well staying at a hotel, but I'm also not the kind of dude that likes trying to be hustled. My friend and I are a couple of 22 year olds on a road trip from Massachusetts to Colorado in his conversion van, and well passing through Ohio decided to get a routine oil change. The clerk at the gas station right off the highway informed us of Mikes Garage at a Marathon a few miles down the road, so we decided to take drive. We asked for an oil change and handed over the keys. Twenty minutes later a mechanic came out and ushered us into the garage. He explained to us that we had a crack in our radiator the size of the Grand Canyon and that if we didn't do something about it we weren't gonna finish our trip. Neither one of us is a mechanic and combined we don't have very much knowledge on radiators, so we'll the mechanic elaborated to my friend I hopped on the web to do some research. Keep in mind the van just passed 50000 miles on our way out here, and is in good shape. We were naturally both skeptical because the van had given us no problems for the first nine hundred miles of our journey, and all of sudden we are being told to give them hundreds of dollars for repairs. Not exactly sure of our next move we politely ask them to prove to us the radiator is broken, to which he points on the floor to a puddle. We had just driven through a snowstorm so there were many puddles from the snow melting on the garage floor. In his defense this puddle did look different and probably was antifreeze, but not from our vehicle. Next he opened our radiator cap, revealing fluid that was without a doubt low, and rust colored. This sounded off some bells because it seemed to back up his point that our radiator was so rusted on the inside that it cracked. We later found out that all this means is that we could use a coolant flush. At the time we were pretty convinced so we asked for a quote. After two calls the guy at the front desk come up with $290 for the radiator, $175 for labor and a bit more for other parts. This seemed a bit high, so I went to O'Riely's website, which was the same place he called, typed in the zip code and the same exact radiator came up for 184 dollars. Shouldn't a mechanic get even a cheaper price? When we confronted him about this discrepancy he was at a loss for words. I understand a small up charge, but $105 dollars plus labor? Crazy. At this point my friend gets a call back from his mechanic at home telling us to ask to see him hook up a pump to the radiator to see if it leaks under pressure. Homeboy says he already did that but would be glad to demonstrate it. Trail one, fail. Not even a half ounce dripped. He suggested that it might of been because there was not enough antifreeze in it, so he filled it and tried again. Still nothing. At this point we were upset and paid for our oil change and left... Almost four hundred miles later and we have not had to add a drop more coolant... My advice is don't go anywhere near this shiesty dive, and if you guys are reading this shame on you!
