Decor means more towards minimalist but not cold. The fact that it has an upstairs is great, more tables to work from. The barista was great and made suggestions. In the end I ended up ordering a mocha (how I usually try to gage a coffee shop), a chocolate chip cookie and a pumpkin scones. Everything was delicious in equal measure and reasonably priced. If I lived closer you'd see me here every day.

The espresso shot came through smooth and silky, and the natural maple syrup provided just the right amount of sweetness and flavor. There were plenty of pastries in the bakery case, and I grabbed a cookie to go with my latte. It was perfection. The seating area offers lots of tables and a large comfy couch in a statement emerald green. I just had to sit for a few minutes and enjoy the quiet. Ambient music sets a chill vibe, and this seems to be a popular hangout for afternoon studying or work, as several people were busy typing on their laptops. There's also tables and seating outside, and several parties were enjoying the shade on this sunny day. Overall, Heartwood was a big win, and I'll definitely be back when I'm in the area again.

Everything she baked was scrumptious and homemade. At other tea places, I felt the pastries and apps were store bought. But she clearly made everything with love, and you could tell by the taste and presentation. We all got to pick out our own tea cups from a variety of beautiful sets. I would love to come back soon!

We made a reservation via email and the staff were quick to respond. The menu isn't large and tea choices were more limited than other tea rooms I've been to. I chose the mint tea and my friend got the chamomile. We each received our own small tea pot that had its own chamber inside to steep the tea. The pots weren't decorative but they got the job done well and I liked that I didn't have to strain the tea myself. We were allowed to pick out our own teacup and saucer. For lunch, I tried the broccoli salad with potato soup and herbed bread. My friend got the broccoli cheese quiche and soup. My salad didn't have much dressing on it - I would have preferred more but I believe it was a premade salad. The soup was ok as well. She said her quiche was tasty. Unfortunately I forgot to grab pictures. I would rate the food 3/5 but the tea a 5/5. Overall, I think the tea house is a nice option considering there aren't many in the area and I'd try it again.

I love walking up Lock 29 to grab a drink to take along with me on my walks! Easy access on the sidewalk, or you can cut off the trail like I do to get up there. It's worth the hassle!

A coffee shop that I can easily visit between hikes in a national park? Heck yes!…read more I stopped by the Peninsula Coffee House and Market during a weekend trip to Cuyahoga Valley National Park this year. I was lucky and snagged a parking space in front of the business; their parking is VERY limited and I'm surprised I didn't have to use a lot that was across a bridge. (Note that the bridge is right by the coffee shop, so it wouldn't have been a long trek at all.) I ordered a Butterscotch Latte and a Sausage, Biscuit & Egg breakfast sandwich; snagged a seat near the front of the store; and settled in for a relaxing break between my hikes. The coffee was excellent and the sandwich really hit the spot! While seating in the lower level is limited, I've learned reading other reviews that there is an outdoor patio and an upper level too. Their website mentions that they run a sundry market here too; however I didn't spend much time shopping in the interest of not stretching my wallet too far during my travels. I also didn't check out the wine cellar in the lower level. While this shop is little, it clearly has a lot to offer, and I am so glad I found it during my visit to Cuyahoga. I'd absolutely stop by again during future visits to the area...and I'd love to time my next visit so I can check out that wine cellar!

We were greeted by Jennifer, one of the owners, she was friendly and very helpful. We ordered from the counter and the food was brought to the table. We ordered sandwiches, I had an everything bagel with double egg and my husband opted for the USS Pennsylvania, a chicken Philly with a side of coleslaw...it was huge we had to do a double take when it arrived at the table, literally two sub buns. Jennifer said it was a little Navy humor. We will definitely be back to order ice cream

It's a nice size cafe. Tables are kept clean. But the plants around need some help. Most looked pretty dead or dying. They seem to do a good take out biz and lots of coffee and other drink options along with baked goods. All in all I will go back and try something else.

The menu has some standout breakfast options you don't see often around here, like loaded grits (a rare Southern find in this area).
