My friend and I were in Indianapolis for a mutual friend's wedding, and we decided to stay at this bed and breakfast because it wasn't much more expensive than the hotel rooms we were looking at (where we would have to share a bed), and the reviews were phenomenal. We were both completely delighted with the place, and within minutes of being welcomed into the house by Debra were ready to move in permanently! I can't say much for the other rooms as we did not see them and I am of the understanding that they are all different, but we stayed in the Garden Room and it was fantastic. There are two rooms, a living area (with a sofa bed) and the bedroom, which has an incredible spa bath with jets... a.k.a. my personal paradise. Also included in the bath area are battery operated candles for ambiance and bath salts. I definitely took advantage of the bath salts. If you are staying in the Garden Room, definitely allot some time in your schedule to take a wonderful, relaxing bath. The room was great, but the experience itself was also unique and lovely. Each day you fill out a breakfast card for the next morning, indicating what time you would like to eat breakfast and any dietary preferences members of your party might have. The next morning, if you have turned in your card, you will be served a freshly cooked breakfast according to your preferences, alongside the other items (cereal, oatmeal, fruit, etc) which are still available to you if you neglected to turn in your breakfast card. There is also a little Keurig bar stocked with K cups available for you to brew. On the second floor is a sun room with comfortable chairs you are welcome to use to hang out in if you wish. In the same room is a shelf full of DVDs available for you to borrow and watch in your room. There is also a chest with snacks available to take such as Cheez-Its, Chex Mix, and Teddy Grahams. Soda cans are also available to take back to your room. On our last evening at the Harney House, we had a movie night in the room with some of these snacks. There was also a popcorn packet available in the room, on top of the microwave and mini fridge. As I discussed with Debra, the owner, bed and breakfasts really aren't for everyone... It's a different experience entirely from staying at a hotel and, in my opinion, it's just better. But if you want your basic, sterile hotel experience, this is not it. Debra and her family run an amazing business here, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

We went away for the weekend for our dating anniversary of six years, and during that time we got engaged! Hooray! Anyway, we stayed in the Garden Room. It was amazing! The bed was super comfy. The spa tub was great. We watched a movie or two from their selection and snacked on some of the soda and treats that were provided in the common area. The area is great in general with lots to do, and it's just a short walk away from Massachusetts Avenue, a great street with a bunch of little shops and restaurants. The only thing that was even remotely out of perfection was the size of the shower. It was a pretty cramped, but if anything, it will be a funny memory of fumbling around like a doofus. Not a complaint, just an observation. :) Also, the towels made up for it! They were super plushy and soft. Breakfast was great, too! Sausage, eggs, some kind of apple coffe cake thing (I could have eaten the entire loaf), fruit, yogurt, a Keurig with a large variety of coffees and teas, cereal, toast, etc. All-in-all we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back! Our stay was delightful and the staff members were very accommodating and friendly. Daily continental breakfast was awesome and the best part each morning, was, meeting and conversing with different people. Shared information and learning is always great. Special shout out to Pam and Yvonne for going above and beyond to ensure that we were ok. A special mention/ thanks to Dewayne, even though he is no longer an innkeeper there. We also liked the ability to get a bus to the transit center and to different areas. If there is a need for accommodation again, we won't hesitate to return to the Stone Soup Inn.

I missed the last connecting flight to Indianapolis and had to fly the day after. As a result I was not able to make it to the Inn for the night I had booked. Per their policy they don't refund bookings canceled within the last seven days from the stay date. I asked them to kindly make an exception given that I had to cancel for reasons that were totally beyond my control. They said No. It is their policy no to refund, but it is their choice to be nice and kind. They choose no to. It goes without saying that I won't stay here in my future trips to Indianapolis. Nor do I recommend them for the antiquated policies and lack of compassion.

It didn't look too crappy on line but it's dated when you see it in real life. The location is great because you can get on the highway and be downtown or the track in minutes. The room was clean for the most part where it counts like the bath room, fridge, microwave. The beds and furniture showed no signs of bed bugs which I always check first in a room. This is not a high end room but I knew that going in and I wasn't using the amenities anyway so a lack of pool and anything else was not an issue, the fridge and microwave was all I needed. This is definitely not like the last room I got for the Vette museum but I wanted a higher end room for that experience, yes I book different rooms based on what my plans are and I'm kind of slumming with my nerd hobbies that I'm also doing. Traveling through vs staying in a room for a while wise and I'm realistically spending a few hours before sleep and leaving first thing so it did the job with an ok room, it's not a destination room for a vacation family and pretty pedestrian. I wouldn't stay here again because I like to stay at different places, the last time I was in Indy I stayed at a different name brand hotel and if I come back again it will be a different place also but I had no issues.

Although the entire hotel was booked out this weekend for an event, half of the elevators don't work. The entrance issue is a real problem. Uber/lyft drivers constantly get lost trying to find this place, and it's a bit of a schlep from the hotel down to the street. The workaround we used was to exit the hotel, walk down the ramp, and then put in a nearby location (Tony's restaurant) as our pickup location. Overall, not completely terrible, but I wouldn't stay here again on purpose.

The communication and helpfulness is everything you'd expect and want from working with a venue and they were so open and welcoming. I hosted a conference for the non profit I volunteer for and it was such a beautiful space. I would book another event in a heartbeat! It was an all women event and they even have a sign to put over the men's restroom sign to have more restrooms for women! They have thought of everything!!
