The tv next to the tub was fabulous, and if I were a taller person I would still be comfortable.

This was our first experience at a Bed and Breakfast, and because of this trip it will not be our last! I decided that for my birthday, I wanted to get a themed room. Something just fun to get away from the house for one night. Our budget isn't exactly the highest, but a splurge for a birthday is doable. I had originally planned to go to a different hotel for the evening, but I'm REALLY glad I didn't. Booking the room was so easy. The gentlemen who helped my husband were kind, easygoing, down to earth... very easy to work with. The B&B has multiple themed rooms (including a movies room that I'm very interested in for the next getaway), but I have an obsession with Tiffanys and that's CLEARLY the room for me. And WOW. The room. Is. AMAZING. From the decor to the bed to the robes to the bathtub, I was in heaven. HEAVEN. I was literally begging my husband to see if there was a BOGO deal at all. I told him I would offer dance lessons. Anything. JUST LET ME LIVE HERE. After the initial wave of heaven set in, we got settled. The room has a remote control fireplace and it's SO nice to be able to relax near it. Snacks and sodas were offered as soon we arrived, and we definitely took advantage! The amazing collection of VHS and DVDs had us in awe (and I'm a musical theatre nerd, so all the movie-musicals had me SO excited). We decided after checking in to take a walk to see what we could find for lunch. Don't let maps fool you: on gorgeous days (and even slightly chilly days), it's not very far at all from great food! The neighborhood is safe and quiet and people are very friendly. There are lots of dogs. Love it. After we were done with t he says activities, we were able to take a relaxing bubble bath. There's a Kroger within walking distance, so we picked up some wine and bubble bath to enjoy. We picked out two movies from their MASSIVE collection (Breakfast at Tiffany's and O Brother Where Art Thou) and relaxed in the gorgeous tub. We had reservations about the bed (it felt really soft), but that may have been one of the best nights of sleep I've ever gotten. Danny was the BEST host in the world and kept in contact with us via text. He made himself available at any time and was happy to answer all questions we had. Since we were the only ones in the house, he offered flexible check in and out, was more than capable in his breakfast making skills... his hospitality was unparalleled. After taxes, we spent less than $200 for two of us to stay in a room with gorgeous stained glass, a huge tub, a massive shower, a private bathroom, access to HUNDREDS of movies (in reality we combed maybe an eighth of what they had), the ability to enjoy breakfast made just for us, around the holidays, in a GORGEOUS neighborhood... We will be returning when possible. And I will be suggesting the Old Northside to EVERY person looking for an overnight getaway or a weekend stay.

Non-white visitors beware! If you don't look Caucasian, the owner Gary will ask you where you are from. If you happen to come from a country he doesn't like, he will try to 'educate' you about the terrible things your home country did and call it 'a country of slaves'. I did not say anything back to argue. I just went back to my room quickly afterwards and cried and left at 7 am next morning without breakfast. I just wanted to have a relaxed weekend with my husband. I don't think I deserved to be called one of the 'slaves'. I called my credit card company (where I booked this trip) to make a complaint and demand a refund. The owner refused a refund. All in all, this has not been an ideal weekend getaway.

This was a fun and interesting place to stay - the rooms were decorated way beyond what you might expect. If you like pictures and knick knack decorations this is the secret and the price is right $150/night. Overall the beds and baths are ok. Older house and older accommodations - don't expect great shower heads or fancy beds. Breakfast and food looked to be great and there is a wonderful dinning area. The host, Gary, is very responsive and will work out most needs. I wanted to check out at 1 pm but he would not help here so I took a little away from rating. The real reason for lower rating is that the owner is very much a political person who supports Trump and Pence. While it is his place and his right to support who he wants it probably is not best to mix politics and business. If that is ok with you then I'd recommend going there. One negative is the closest eating establishment is about 8 blocks away and 1.5 miles to walk to downtown.

We had such a great time at Old Northside! Away from the hustle and bustle of downtown Indianapolis (I assume it's hustling and bustling anyway; we didn't really go there during the day), this B&B puts you right into a real, residential neighborhood - as a tourist, it was nice not to feel so, well, touristy. With a private parking lot and an electronic code to get in, it was also easy to come and go as we pleased. Gary and JoAnne were quite accommodating and friendly. I especially liked the endless supplies of snacks they had available 24 hours a day! We would definitely go back.

Our stay (8/26-28) was pretty uneventful and I found the inn to be charming, unique, and quaint. We arrived late (11:30pm) and the host, Tressa, was there to greet us and show us around. I didn't find it that cozy, however, but the uniqueness made up for it. The first impression walking in brought us into a kitchen cluttered with a huge selection VHS and DVD's spanning back decades. The second room featured a piano and a microphone, but wasn't used during our stay (I would have sang away if i knew someone that could tickle the ivories). To the right was the dining room, set for breakfast the next morning and then another sitting room next to that. If you want to not leave the B&B and watch movies all day, this is for you. If you love to watch movie musicals, this place is totally for you. Our room was upstairs, the Hollywood room. Check out the pictures. It's something to write home about. It comes complete with a sitting couch a vaudeville makeup table, and a directors chair. The walls were adorned with faces and playbills from Hollywood and Broadway past. We were saddened that we didn't find one black person on any of the walls.. But I guess that was Hollywood, eh? The bed could use an upgrade (creaky and not soft.. My boyfriend liked it though.. But he prefers to sleep on planks anyway). The two pillows were also embarrassingly worn and not plush... (reason for the missing star). I suggest brining your own pillow (s). I could do without the carpet in the bathroom (which was also decorated with music, playbills, and books on musical theatre by the toilet). The breakfast was filling and tasty, especially the sausage egg casserole on the final day. They had delicious coffee and a gracious host that made sure we were taken care of. The other guest rooms were pretty nifty, too, but none, I think, as advent garde as our room. Check out Foundery Coffee up the street for yummy coffee and bagels. Check this place out. It's different and unique with a great host.

From the moment we first called Gary about a room the warmth in his voice brought a comfort. We are on our Honeymoon "road trip" and I turned a few things around. So I was a bit anxious when I called. When we walked through the front door it was like we had time traveled. It felt like we had stepped into the past. The videos and cds helped bring you back into that bygone era. Our room "the tiffany" was beautiful! The stained glass window, the pictures and the Jacuzzi made it so very romantic! Gary was the best host, it was like going to your uncle's house, if he was a world traveler with a very interesting life to share. Breakfast was delicious. We had an amazing stay, our only complaint...we were only here one night!

Absolutely beautiful! Located on Alabama Street in the Old Northside Neighborhood! Great walk to Monument Cir. and Mass Ave!

First bed and breakfast. Gary was an excellent host and the perfect amount of helpful but not intrusive. Would recommend to everyone.

I'm already searching for an excuse to come back to Indianapolis so I can visit this beautiful…read morehouse again! My friend and I were in Indianapolis for a mutual friend's wedding, and we decided to stay at this bed and breakfast because it wasn't much more expensive than the hotel rooms we were looking at (where we would have to share a bed), and the reviews were phenomenal. We were both completely delighted with the place, and within minutes of being welcomed into the house by Debra were ready to move in permanently! I can't say much for the other rooms as we did not see them and I am of the understanding that they are all different, but we stayed in the Garden Room and it was fantastic. There are two rooms, a living area (with a sofa bed) and the bedroom, which has an incredible spa bath with jets... a.k.a. my personal paradise. Also included in the bath area are battery operated candles for ambiance and bath salts. I definitely took advantage of the bath salts. If you are staying in the Garden Room, definitely allot some time in your schedule to take a wonderful, relaxing bath. The room was great, but the experience itself was also unique and lovely. Each day you fill out a breakfast card for the next morning, indicating what time you would like to eat breakfast and any dietary preferences members of your party might have. The next morning, if you have turned in your card, you will be served a freshly cooked breakfast according to your preferences, alongside the other items (cereal, oatmeal, fruit, etc) which are still available to you if you neglected to turn in your breakfast card. There is also a little Keurig bar stocked with K cups available for you to brew. On the second floor is a sun room with comfortable chairs you are welcome to use to hang out in if you wish. In the same room is a shelf full of DVDs available for you to borrow and watch in your room. There is also a chest with snacks available to take such as Cheez-Its, Chex Mix, and Teddy Grahams. Soda cans are also available to take back to your room. On our last evening at the Harney House, we had a movie night in the room with some of these snacks. There was also a popcorn packet available in the room, on top of the microwave and mini fridge. As I discussed with Debra, the owner, bed and breakfasts really aren't for everyone... It's a different experience entirely from staying at a hotel and, in my opinion, it's just better. But if you want your basic, sterile hotel experience, this is not it. Debra and her family run an amazing business here, and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

We went away for the weekend for our dating anniversary of six years, and during that time we got engaged! Hooray! Anyway, we stayed in the Garden Room. It was amazing! The bed was super comfy. The spa tub was great. We watched a movie or two from their selection and snacked on some of the soda and treats that were provided in the common area. The area is great in general with lots to do, and it's just a short walk away from Massachusetts Avenue, a great street with a bunch of little shops and restaurants. The only thing that was even remotely out of perfection was the size of the shower. It was a pretty cramped, but if anything, it will be a funny memory of fumbling around like a doofus. Not a complaint, just an observation. :) Also, the towels made up for it! They were super plushy and soft. Breakfast was great, too! Sausage, eggs, some kind of apple coffe cake thing (I could have eaten the entire loaf), fruit, yogurt, a Keurig with a large variety of coffees and teas, cereal, toast, etc. All-in-all we had a wonderful time and will definitely be back! We visited for a wedding and it was a fun place for people to gather after festivities. Room was good, quirky, but good. There was a huge dip in the bed that we couldn't escape. Slept oddly while we were there and any time I scooted to the edge of the bed, the natural curvature of the dip would roll me back to the center. Some nights were better than others. I figured we were just there temporarily so we didn't want to bother moving to another room. The shower head could probably use a bit extra water pressure but that can also be subjective too. Overall, our unit was cozy and quiet. The elevator itself was super quick each time we returned to the hotel so that's a plus. On the flip side, whoever ran the bar both nights deserves a raise. They hustled like crazy last Friday and Saturday night while we got to know some new friends. I never got names but it was certainly a solid experience. Great pours of wine, excellent drinks and beers were frosty! We chatted with some of the in-laws and they said the AirBnb units were amazing so next time we may gravitate towards that if those units are available! Super solid experience with some minor hiccups. I would still recommend the stay. The hotel itself is a hop, skip and a jump from the Monon trail and a quick jaunt to Java House. Everything is super close!
