I started by purchasing tile for my backsplash in kitchen. Barbara was helpful, price was reasonable. The installer she recommended did an awesome job! Then we decided to renovate the master bath. Again Barbara was helpful, let me borrow several samples, change them out for others until I found what was perfect for me. The same contractor did the work in our bathroom, and we are very happy with all aspects of this large job. This is an update on my prior review. My installer picked up the tile and delivered it to my house. They noticed a discrepancy in the number of tiles ordered. The order was for 180 sq ft and there was only 165 sq ft not enough to do the job. Furthermore the tile did not match the sample that I had (not even close) He took the tile back to the store and they refused to accept it, said it was my problem. BEWARE! THEY STOLE $2,827.50 FROM ME AND HAVE IGNORED COUNTLESS PHONE CALLS AND EMAILS FROM ME TRYING TO RESOLVE THE ISSUE! Speedway Flooring was a nightmare to deal with. I hired them to supply and install laminate floors at our condo. They ran my credit card for the second half of payment before the project was even complete. Barbara lied to me and said it was 100% finished (I do not live locally so I initially trusted that this was correct) when it was not, sent deceptive pictures and video that showed complete areas but did not show the incomplete trim. It was only when guests at our condo the following week notified me that the project was incomplete that I realized they had taken the final payment of $2,827.50 prematurely. I then called and emailed for 90 days with no response whatsoever. I had to initiate a chargeback on my credit card in order to get their attention. The owner of the company, Barbara responded nastily with all sorts of threats to sue me, put liens on the property, etc. It did however motivate them to complete the project which they did in April of 2018. This is where things get even worse. Barbara demanded that I pay them with cashiers check rather than cancelling the "charge back" on the credit card, stating that the Square credit card processor had shut their account down. So when they completed the project, I did send a cashiers check to pay the project in full. HOWEVER, Barbara then ALSO disputed the credit card chargeback and took that payment back as well, thus taking DOUBLE PAYMENT on the final payment, and stealing $2,827.50 from me. In the months since, I have spoken with my bank, Square payment processing, both of which have tried numerous times to contact Barbara and Speedway Flooring to resolve the issue, they've been ignored every time thus not allowing Square to refund my money as they need to do so in cooperation with the account holder, Speedway Flooring. I have tried for months to work with Barbara and Speedway to handle the issue directly, to which she has only responded a couple of times, briefly and basically taunting me rather than expressing any willingness to help correct the issue. So as we sit now, I have out $2,728.50 and my only recourse is to take Speedway Flooring and the installer Milton Harrell to civil court which could have all been avoided if Speedway showed any professionalism or honesty whatsoever. This hasn't happened and this situation has gone on for more than a year. STEER CLEAR, DO NOT HIRE SPEEDWAY FLOORING FOR ANY PROJECTS, I have since learned from other people that they have a reputation for these types of situations, I wish I had done more homework and read reviews and BBB ratings etc which tell the story. I have also heard that they tend to prey on people from out of town as they know it can be very challenging to pursue corrective actions. I am certain that I will get my money back in the end, but I hope to help other people avoid making the mistake of hiring this company. read more

We ordered $890 worth of tile MONTHS ago and received NOTHING in return but excuses. READ THE REVIEWS & LOOK AT ALL THESE PEOPLE THEY SCAMMED. We were told the tile warehouse flooded and they could not fulfill our order. When asked numerous times for a refund we got the run around and was told by Rob that Barbara needed to handle it but couldn't right now that she was recovering from a surgery. Now we found out she just retired and was told to dispute the charge with our bank to get our money back that they do not have it or our tile. BUYER BEWARE! read more

Horrific, defensive and unaccountable experience. We believe that they have a tarnished relationship with their suppliers. On September 10, 2018, Speedway Flooring received a full pre-payment of $1125.29 for Invoice number 7379. According to the owner Barbara Mecannic, due to problems with the vendor, the flooring was not received on time as promised and never delivered. After the promised delivery or the flooring for Tuesday, September 18th did not happen. We contacted Speedway and was assured that they would contact us with the ETA for delivery and installation on Wednesday, September 19th. No phone call back and no-show again on Wednesday. In fact, no communication regarding the status of the order was ever initiated by them, until we returned to their place of business on Wednesday, September 19th to get an update on the status of our order. They claimed no responsibility for the delay, and quickly escalated to being defensive and then dialed and placed on speaker phone the vendor/rep to clarify that it was not their fault that the order had not been delivered. We clearly clarified that we have no relationship with their vendor, nor desired one. This only resulted in Mrs. Mecannic's verbal tirade, threats of calling the police and proclamation that she did not want our business and was refunding our payment, however she could not print a written receipt, but would email it. Never happened. According to their rep, our order was sitting in Lakeland, Florida with no transportation to get it to Port Orange. The transaction receipt that they forwarded was a copy of the original transaction, not of the refund. There was never a reversal of payment to our credit card company. On September 20th, we again requested a copy of the refund transaction; no response. On October 3rd, we again requested a copy of the refund transaction; no response. Our repeated attempts by phone and email to resolve this issue resulted in no response and no resolution until December and after sending a certified letter and filing a claim through our credit card company, involving their investigators. Finally this month, a final credit has been confirmed. The only thing pleasant about this episode was the initial meeting with Barbara Mecannic when she wanted the business and the display samples. The most unethical people I have had to deal with. First they say you don't pay until the job is done and you are satisfied. Then before the job is done, they tell you they need you to pay in full, so being a trusting person you pay. Then the job never gets completed. My husband is finishing their work this week. He is re-staining the wrong colored door thresholds,(first they put in three different types of thresholds in one room!), he is cutting wood to catch the screws that were not put into the thresholds, and then after he installs the thresholds he will reinstall our closet door that was left leaning on the wall. The owner, Barbara is a liar and didn't pay the tile installer the full amount we gave her for labor, (his words), the threshold installer, Joe Ricketts said she wasn't paying him to install the thresholds and that he was doing her a favor (FUNNY, she said he was doing ME a favor! What! I paid for it!!!) And this guy Joe who came to may house 5 times either without the materials or taking 5 minutes to do the worst work Ive seen, also didn't show up three times for appointments. Barbara said, don't worry he'll fix it. I had to sit in their store to get them to call the installer to come to me house because since I had already paid, they were letting it slide. Barbara told me, "Your expectations are too high". Hows that for a business ad. I sent pictures of the thresholds that they partly installed, that we are redoing ourselves, to friends to get opinions. They were all astonished at what substandard work it was. They are without a doubt the worst company and I am sure they won't last long with the reviews they are getting. We just have to hope word gets out. I am committed to patronizing small, local businesses where possible. This one needs an overhaul. It's a family business which can't seem to keep up with things. I asked for a quick delivery and install of linoleum. After the product arrived at the store, they couldn't get anyone out to install it for several days, so one of the owners came. It was sloppy work, at best. I asked him to come back to fix some details, and he set up three times to come, but didn't arrive and didn't call. Then they hired a contractor to come and he had a "sort of" family emergency when he was supposed to come. Then he didn't come the next time within an hour and a half of his span of arrival time. He's here now and fixing the sloppy caulking around the toilet and tub. He discovered that the flooring in the bathroom isn't glued down. There are a couple "bubbles" in the hallway where there is no glue, which the owner said would flatten in time. They haven't. This has not been a great experience. read more

The first time we used Speedway Flooring, we were elated. The service was great and the process of putting our wood floor down went perfectly. So we decided to use them again for our Kitchen Tile floor. This time our experience was a complete nightmare. Two people came by and measured our kitchen for the tile purchase and installation. The tile came in, my husband took the day off and waited for the installer....to no avai. Guy never showed, never called. We called the store and they said the installer was at the store and was running behind and could come another day. My husband took the day off!! So they said they would get someone else to our house. Never happended and they never called us to tell us it would never happen. So, we got our tile and all and got our own installer (of course now I had to take off of work). Installer came and started the job only to tell us that we were short cement. So, now I have to buy another bag. Then our installer informs me that we were short of TILE!! Two people measured and we now don't have enough tile to finish the kitchen. So, we have to order more tile and now the installer (who was kind enough to move other jobs around to help us out since he felt bad for us) is trying to figure out when he can come back and I have to take yet more time off of work. The tile did come in, rather quickly I will admit, and we got it to the house. The installer found time to come back and I had to take more time off, but it is FINALLY done. The biggest thing that bothered me about this whole situation was that we were very patient and understanding with Barbara and her son Robert as we know they are going though a lot with big Robert, but an apology would of went a long way. Never did either say sorry about being short changed on tile or cement and never did they try to make any consessions or go out of their way for us. Very disappointed in the lack of professionalism and customer service. They were extremely bad at communcation on this whole event as well. We are getting ready to do another flooring job in our house, but will never go back to this company. read more

On January 4, 2018, I placed an order for several rooms of tile, both wall and flooring. I hesitantly paid the full amount of the invoice. I generally would not have done so however we have dealt with this firm in the past. On or about January 26th, I confirmed that the order was in. On February 12th, the installer I had contracted with picked up the order, and noticed that a complete bathroom full of tile was missing. When questioned, the Speedway rep indicated that the rest of the order would be in on February 16. When that date came and went, I later learned that the particular tile was not available. On February 26, I visited the store to request a refund on the tile that they can not supply. The amount is over $1600. plus tax and freight.
