manager is very rude, tried talking down to my wife then to me, won't be going back here .

I have been to speedy many times over the past few years since the new manager has taken over & he has always made sure I'm taken care of. This past time right before Christmas my starter went bad & I called him, he towed my car (and charged it to the business so I paid nothing) and put in a new starter and had it done within a few hours ready for Christmas in 2 days! He is always so nice and helpful and even checks my air in my tires & lets me know what else I need to do for my car & when to do it without trying to get over on me, which is rare nowadays! Eddie was amazing! I went to Midas because the dealership told me I needed an alignment and a hanger on my exhaust! Eddie told me that no work needed on my exhaust and everything was tight! As for the alignment, 3 wheels were aligned the 4th off by 1/4". I didn't need an alignment and I was not charged for one. Thank you!! Eddie is a great employee. read more

I had to give a 1 to register the review. Do not take your car there for tires or to get new tires put on. They doeven classify as a good place to get oil changed. I had 2 tires put on an the idiots threw away my good tires and kept the bad ones. Not only that there was another gentleman there that got an oil change and they charged him $85.00 for an oil change.The test synthetic oil doesn't cost more $7.00 and a filter for $4.00. They charged him $50.00 for labor for a 10 minute job. Go there at your own risk. read more

My vehicle was there for inspection November 2021. Failed inspection for rear brake wear. I was qouted $400+ repair; declined. I contacted my service shop that agreeded to perform the service. My car had wheel lock lug nuts that requires a special lug nut 'keyed' for removal. My shop called me; no 'key' tool was found. I went to Speedee-Midas in Vinton, VA. I ask some questions relevant to my situation, I received an unsatisfory response and ask for his name, he refused. I then ask to speak to the manager, he was in the shop. I discovered the manager was also the inspector. The conversation lead to the manager/inspector producing the wheel lock key. I returned this to the shop I chose to perform the repair. I was called by the shop declaring the key was unusable due to being broken. The Speedee-Midas manager agreed to replace the lock key. This took more than a month. I took the vehicle back to the shop that was waiting to do the repair; again the key lock did not work. I ( YouTubed ) how to remove (key lock) lugnuts. I was able to get them off. I returned the vehicle to Speedy-Midas for re-inspection in late January; I was told to have it there at 8:00am, which I did. I waited approximately two hours before the inspection was completed. There was never admission of wrong doing. The shop I chose to did the necessary repair for 1/3 the quoted price from Speedee-Midas in Vinton, VA. I will never take any of my vehicles to a Speedee-Midas shop again. read more

I went and got an inspection and they were all so nice and got it done quick! I've been here for oil changes in the past and they always do amazing and have done it quickly. To the rude customers that go in there make sure you remember they aren't there to be your punching bags :) which is what I witnessed today. read more

I've been a Speedee customer for years. I'm finding myself confused as I continue to sink money into a problem the mechanics are trained to fix and I still have the same problem. I spent $268 to replace my spark plugs after a misfire code. Then I was told to come back for 02 sensors if the light came back on. I go back for those and I'm charged $172 and $138 for 2 sensors. I leave and the check engine light is right back on. I was told the sensors would've been cheaper than I was actually charged. $475 later, I'm faced with the same issue. Where do I go from here? I really like going to speedee, but as the staff has changed I'm not seeing the same quality that once existed. This post isn't to bash the company as I believe they stand behind their mission. However I feel as a consumer my personal interaction with this particular shop has sent up a series of red flags. I actually was present in the waiting area when a Virginia state Trooper (in uniform) arrived to get a refund for services. The way the staff treated the law enforcement officer alarmed me. I can only be thankful that I was ignored and not disrespected. Fast forward to Wednesday(1-12-2022). I picked up my vehicle after I dropped it off on Monday (1-10-2022) for services not performed. I spoke with Mr. Joey, who identified Himself to me as a manager after my Check engine light came back on. He stated that I should bring the vehicle back so they could look at it. I left the vehicle under the pretence that staff would re-diagnose the problem. I rode by the shop on Tuesday and my vehicle was still in the same spot. I decided to remove my vehicle as it is my only means of transportation and I had spent almost $100 in ride shares while the vehicle was allegedly being serviced. When I arrived to collect my keys, Mr. Joey presented them and had no explanation as to why they hadn't attempted to look into my concern. It was almost nonchalant as if to say we got your money and there's nothing you can do about it. If you've read this review I want to thank you for your time and suggest you run from this place. At least until they get better staff. I will forward a complaint to the #AttorneyGeneral as well as The #BetterBusinessBureau. I suggest everyone follow suit if you've experienced similar treatment. I stand up for people who don't have a voice. I'm a prominent citizen in the Roanoke valley and actually well-known in Vinton after my heroic act in 2017. read more

These guys are the absolute worst. Every time you call you get someone different who doesn't know anything about your vehicle or its status and when they say they'll call you back they never do. They misdiagnosed my work truck's malfunction and had me purchase and install a part that didn't fix the problem ($700!).Then when they did find the problem it took them 12 days to get the part. When I visited to pick up the truck after being told it would be ready today, it was in fact not ready and all four of the guys who were there were just standing around talking instead of working on anything. We're going on day 13 and I still do not have my vehicle back and am expected to pay another $650 to fix it! Totally unacceptable and the worst mechanic in Vinton and Roanoke. I will never bring any of my vehicles back to them ever again. read more

I was dropping off my vehicle on a busy Friday. I asked if they had time for an oil change and was told yes and he started to walk away. I said do you need to know which car it is? He asked have I been here before and I replied YES. Came back to pick up the car and was charged over $70. Said I always pay in the $ 30s. Said he did a full synthetic oil change. I replied that I never was asked and said I normally get the conventional oil change. He had no reply except that in 2018 I had the full synthetic oil change. It is now 2022. Asked to speak to the manager. Manager repeated what the other guy said and said something about maybe people had fat fingers. I told him I didn't understand what that meant. He said maybe they put it in the computer wrong because they had fat fingers. I said that didn't help me. I have been coming for years and that I always had the $38 oil change. He said nothing and started huffing and putting his head in his heads. He then started to walk away. I asked him what happened to customer service. He said he took over the place 3 months ago. I told him I wasn't coming back if he didn't care about customer service. He said that was completely fine with him. He didn't need my business. I never raised my voice and their were other customers in the waiting room. One of the customers actually spoke and said "man, people should get a choice." As I was walking out, I asked the other two if I was overreacting. They both said no and the one who had spoken up earlier said he would be telling everyone he knew to no longer use this location. So sad because it was a great location for us. I have been going there since it opened and have 4 cars. I have never been treated so rudely without someone even trying to resolve the issue. I called corporate office as well and did not get any help there either. read more

I went to this Speedee when my car was making a rattling sound like the muffler had a hole in it. They told me they needed to order the part. The whole experience was a nightmare and then when I finally got my car back and they were billing me over what they quoted and would not accept the interest free credit card their website offered. Six months later I found out that the part was covered under the manufacturers warranty. They refused to honor it and the dealer said they would if I had the part, cat convertor, that was replaced.....6 months later. I would not recommend Speedee in Vinton or the one on Electric Rd. Tom Haas the owner was a very unpleasant man. My next stop is the BBB. read more

My first experience with these guys was unexpected. We stopped in to have them look over a used car we wanted to purchase for my son. They didn't charge us a dime and gave us a complete report and personal tour of the car as they saw it. Very impressive. The next day we stopped in for an oil change and once again everybody was friendly and honestly wanted to help. They even repaired a dust cover which was rubbing the rotor for free because they saw it when they did the inspection. Totally won my business in the future and the prices are far less than the local competition. read more

Took my truck to speedee for an oil change and inspection today, they were very cordial and professional. In the past, the staff there have been borderline rude and sketchy, but speedee is under new management now and has hired some great employees who do their job and provide excellent customer service. No complaints. Went in for an inspection. Had me in and out in about half an hour. Have an oil change due soon and will probably go there.

I went to this business for an oil change in my diesel truck. We took all our other vehicles there for oil changes and when they were done, the bill was $175.82. I knew it would cost more for the extra quarts of oil but they charged me $175.82. I felt like I was robbed but the "service" had already been provided so I had to pay this amount. I will NEVER go back there and recommend anyone going there check what they plan to charge you on that day..... read more
