Nicole, owner of Speech Within Reach is an amazing clinician! She has built such wonderful rapport with my 10 year old daughter who was very embarrassed & reluctant to start speech therapy again. We started Zoom sessions with Nicole, as we are in the Chicago, Illinois area. My daughter did therapy a few years ago in school but the pandemic made the school therapy cease. Since my daughter is older now & more aware of her speech issues, she was very nervous to begin speech therapy. Nicole's approach is so loving, caring & kind. She made my daughter feel at complete ease so much so that my daughter actually looks forward to her sessions. Nicole has worked with my daughter on a lisp with "s" and "z" sounds, as well as addressing the "r" sound. She strengthened her mouth including her tongue with myofunctional therapy so she can have more control when making those sounds. She gives very clear homework (& incentivizes her) to work on her speech when she is not with Nicole. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Nicole to work with your kiddo. She is very gifted in what she does and has real empathy for her clients & their families. read more

Nicole is literally an ANGEL!!! You can tell this is her calling to help kids level up in their speech. Our son was seeing a speech therapist through his school, but it just wasn't going well and he'd never want to go and would cry often. Once he started seeing Nicole I noticed his speech already shifting and integrating after just a couple of weeks. He'd even ask if he could talk with her randomly throughout the week ~ he adores her. And even when he's having a rough day Nicole is a total pro re~engaging him. She has a way of making speech fun, carefree and light hearted. All things both my son and I appreciate. My daughter is ended up needed several rounds of speech, physical, and occupational therapy. As her treatments progressed it because increasingly important to me that they were play based and a co-construction between practitioner and patient- as I didn't want my daughter to always feel like she was being told what to do by doctors. And then when my daughter started school, it also became important that we had someone with a flexible schedule. Nicole fit ALL the requirements for us. She comes to US, and the sessions look more like a play session than any of the other therapy sessions we tried. She interacts with my daughter in her environment and builds speech off her genuine interests and activities (much different than asking a toddler to sit down and respond to flash cards in an office). Over the last 6-8 months we've seen dramatic improvement in my daughter's speech. And I see influences of Nicole in much of it- she sings songs they make up together and continues many of the same games after Nicole leaves. She is genuinely engaged in the sessions because Nicole is able to adapt quickly and go with the flow while constantly engaging in the play and keeping the language flowing. Miss Nicole is INCREDIBLE!! She's warm and engaging and has helped our son improve his speech sounds significantly! She works through play and conversation which doesn't feel like work to the kids. She tailors her plans for each child. She will leave practice sheets and exercises - and if the child does them, they will expedite the success! She also knows how to deal with kids when they have the sillies and willies - haha - knowing how to calm them and get them focused on their work. Nicole has worked with two of my children, so we have known her professionally for years. My almost 8 year old worked with her weekly at our home for over a year and now has no speech issues.
