We spent an unforgettable 10 days hiking the (express!) Inca trail to Machu Picchu and visiting Lima, The Sacred Valley, Aguas Calientes and Cusco. I could write 10 pages about how much we loved traveling with Knowmad so I'll try to stick to the highlights. My husband and I usually handle all of our own travel planning, but when we came across Knowmad while researching how to visit Machu Picchu we realized we would probably get a lot more out of a trip to Peru traveling with specialists from the country. This was 1000% true and working with Knowmad made planning our trip so easy and fun. Our travel specialists Renee and Shannon found a way for us to do everything we wanted to do (and so much more!) while staying within our budget. They were remarkably thorough with answering my countless questions and we could not have been more prepared for our visit, with very minimal effort on our end. Once we met up with our Knowmad guide, Fernando, in Cusco every day of our trip was amazing and we learned so much about the Inca culture and the Andes while having a ton of fun and going at our own pace. By the time we made it to Machu Picchu it was so much more meaningful because we had an understanding of what makes it such a special and mystical site. The Inca trail was absolutely breathtaking (and I'm not talking about the altitude ) and we couldn't have done it without Fernando as our fearless guide. He looked out for us every step of the way and made us feel like family throughout our time with him. Our trip wouldn't have been nearly so memorable without him. Another highlight was our e-bike ride through the Sacred Valley with our awesome guide Kirvi, who was so kind and on top of making sure we were safe and even getting some awesome photos and videos along the way. Our driver Abraham made us feel so welcome and kept us moving along and safe throughout our trip. The restaurants and hotels Knowmad arranged for us were excellent, and our picnic in the Sacred Valley and Pachamanca experience were unbelievable. We stopped at Mi Boleto Travel to scope it out. Within less than an hour, Berto had us booked for flights to and from Europe, a flight within eastern Europe, and hotels in three cities. He cheerfully waited through our deliberations on how much time to spend where and changed our hotel reservations to accommodate our revised schedule. Weeks later, Mi Boleta assisted in making another adjustment to our schedule. We will absolutely use Mi Boleta again!

Huge AAA building with a DMV office, travel agency, and large store for trip-centric supplies. Lots of parking inn a dedicated lot but it can be tricky to get in and out with the other businesses in the area. Everyone I've talked to has been very nice, even in the DPS area. If you go earlier on a week day it's not too bad but it can get crazy on weekends. The store always has sales on luggage if you're in the market. I haven't used a travel agency before, but I've heard good things about theirs.

Zero stars if Yelp allowed it…read more I was driving from Minnesota to Houston when I hit a discarded muffler on the highway, 51 miles north of Ames, Iowa, at 6:20 in the morning. I'd planned the whole trip around arriving before dark because I have trouble driving at night. I called AAA immediately and was told help would arrive within the hour. It took six hours. I waited on the shoulder in 95-degree heat, calling over and over, telling them the same thing every time: flat tire, damaged wheel, and I'm here with my car. When a tow truck finally came, it already had another car on the flatbed. The driver said AAA never told him anyone was with the vehicle, and he'd been dispatched to pick up an abandoned car first. He couldn't carry both, so I had to wait for a second truck. Sam's Club in Ames fixed my car quickly once I got there, but AAA's delay meant I couldn't make my planned stop before dark, so I had to pay for a hotel. AAA said my travel interruption coverage would reimburse it. They've now denied the claim because my tire was repaired the same day, so it "doesn't count." The only reason I needed the hotel was AAA's own six-hour delay. My advice: buy the cheapest membership, since the basic plan covers a tow. Don't count on travel interruption coverage. It's misleading.

I have spent so much time trying to discuss this situation or to get my money reimbursed but the games have not stopped. This is not the experience I had with university travel before, but I have not had to change or reschedule tickets.
