spectrum used to have the monopoly on home internet in South Carolina. As such I had no choice but to use them. Being from Arizona I'm used to better internet. First off their prices are quite high for the service they offer. Secondly that "service" is sporadic at best. Just this last week it's been off EVERY day for at least 5 hours due to "a service interruption". They even said it was due to bad weather (the sky was clear!) Finally another internet company has moved into the area and they offer 2GB speed for LESS then I'm paying for 1GB with Spectrum (and it's ALL fiber optic). You can GUARANTEE I'm switching. I'm SO frustrated with watching a movie only to have my internet cut out in the middle. Or trying to get some work done only to lose connection. Then when I called to cancel my service the lady tried to get me to add cellular service and I told her "based on your internet service I can only imagine how good your cellular service is". She replied that hers is perfect. I almost died laughing before I hung up. I won't mention who the other company is, but I suggest you do some SERIOUS research before picking Spectrum for your service. read more

I have been a Spectrum customer for over 15 years. I have there gigabyte per minute service. After hurricane Helene, and my power was on, I was without service for five weeks. I was told I would be credited for the service I did not have, but to wait a few months. They now tell me I was not affected and I will be getting no credit. Mahogany and Lee were so helpful with advice and setup of new devices for me and a very specific special complicated situation with a physically disabled son. I'm in the Roebuck SC area and just got the new 1GB fiber internet and it's not bad. I'd say so, so. 1GB is stretching it, but still not too bad. Xumo tv though is another story. Nothing consistent about it at all. In, out and all over the place. Thinking about paying the extra cost and go back to AT&T Direct on the dish. Never had a problem with that. Been a customer for 8 years. Past 1.5 years service reliability has declined. Poor senior management communication in corporate indicated they had no disaster plan in place for upstate SC & NC. The worst service ever. How does anyone get anything done at this place and they don't seem to care how long the line is. People must of had their tranquilizer with their Wheaties as everyone seems a sleep at the wheel here. Could be waiting until fall in order to get help. Spectrum is absolutely terrible for seniors living on a fixed income,they try to add things you never asked for,or pkgs you don't want.then it's hard to remove because egg you call in they continually switch you over to different areas of spectrum,it's their tactic to have you wait so long thinking & wanting you to hang up. They don't help you and it's seldom that you get an agent that's caring & concerned. BELIEVE THE BAD REVIEWS. Spectrum is literally the worst company I have ever dealt with. I had them from 2017 to 2024, at 4 different residences due to moving. Service was always spotty and there were outages on a regular basis, but other than that, no complaints until disconnecting my service this last time. I noticed a few months prior my bill had jumped from 44.99 per month to 61.99 per month. When I decided to disconnect my service on September 3, 2024, it was the beginning of the most ridiculous situation I have ever experienced with a business. It took 30 minutes to persuaded the customer service rep to disconnect my service. I had to get very firm and finally shut down the "exit interview" where she was asking question after question about my phone service provider and other personal questions that were clearly for marketing and had NOTHING to do with my disconnect. They told me everything was settled and to return my equipment immediately which I did. Well, I thought it was over. I WAS WRONG. They started texting me several MONTHS later that I had an overdue balance. I have never in my entire 46 years of life had an overdue balance. I have excellent credit and always pay my bills. Apparently because I disconnected 3 days into the billing cycle I was charged A FULL MONTH for service. My equipment wasn't even plugged in during that time, it had been unplugged a week prior. So I didn't use ANY internet. They didn't tell me about this upon disconnect. Or upon sign up. I asked them to send me copies of my last two bills because they closed my account and I can no longer log in to get the statements/bills I have a right to see (yet they keep telling me I can log in). I never received the requested statements/bills yet they are now adding a $4 charge saying they sent them and that's the fee for doing so, ARE YOU KIDDING? They never told me there would be a fee for copies of my bill. Now they're threatening collections and that's why I'm here. I see so many here with the same problem. It's robbery, and they're getting away with it because they threaten to send you to collections, trying to ruin my excellent credit. I'm reviewing them every place I can find to hopefully save others from this experience. "Customer service" is no help, managers and employees talk down to me and shut me down every time I try to resolve this issue. I will never, ever use this company again. I highly recommend taking your complaints to the BBB, they will work on your behalf to help resolve issues, I am filing my complaint after seeing several people on Reddit saying they got help from the BBB. read more

I was told I had 30 days to add my 2nd line for the 2 lines for $29.99/mo. deal. They did the deal the first month but then the next month they took it away. They said I had to add both lines the same day for the promotion to work. I do not know if I was lied to on purpose to pay more money (I wouldn't be surprised) or they gave me someone who just started that day. Either way if they told me I had 30 days to add a 2nd line they should honor that because it was only a week later. I was going to add both lines that day but the guy talked me out of it to use up my other phone plan first to save money. Just want to say: don't bother! I switched my mobile service because they promised me a great monthly rate. Turned out I had little to no coverage in my wooded subdivision. They were not cooperative when I switched back to T-mobile, who had better coverage and service. Turns out they are still billing me 6 weeks later. I had ordered internet service for a remodel location in Woodruff. It was promised three times and they never got it done on time. Finally put it in 4 hours late and no one was apologetic. Poor service and no coordination! Now I am trying to disconnect both of those services and I am hanging on the phone waiting for help. The first representative didn't appreciate my complaining so he hung up on me (after a LONG wait!). I had to start over. I did get a nice guy the next time, but after another really LONG wait. My advice: stay away from Spectrum. Talk is cheap. Good service and follow-through are quite another thing. read more

Lightning struck our apartment and fried our WiFi equipment. I went to Spectrum to replace the damaged equipment. I waited only 10 minutes before Mahagony provided five star service. If I could rate them in the negative, I would, twice! Don't waste your time or money with this subpar service. I cannot recall going seven days straight without losing cable and internet service for hours at a time. They never resolve the issue in the estimated time, never offer credits for repeated disruption and if they offer a credit, they will conveniently raise their rates so they collect more money while continuing to offer horrible service. If you need internet to work from home, don't use this service. If you want your bill to remain the same price for at least six months, don't use this service. If you like watching tv without the picture dissolving into pixels and sound skips, don't use this service. You will pay exorbitant prices for a nonexistent service. read more

This is not specific to a location, but for Spectrum overall. Go with another provider... ANY other provider, if you have the chance. Why? Here's a few reasons: 1. Regular outages of service. I lived in Inman for over 4 years, and every few months my internet/tv would be out for at least a few hours. NOT ONCE did they give me a credit on my bill for the downtime. I paid 100% even if they could not deliver 100% 2. Outdated hardware. When I moved to Colorado in 2005, I had Comcast service and their DVR could only record 2 programs, max. As time went on, that improve to something like 5 or 6 program recordings at the same time. Then... on to Spectrum in Inman in 2017.... and BACK to only 2 concurrent recordings. Yes indeed, the ONLY option I had in 2017 was tech that 10 years behind the times. 3. Cancellation of service - THEY DON'T PRO-RATE. I used 5 days of service in my billing cycle (starting on the 21st of the month, and I stopped service on the 26th) but even though they only supplied service for 20% of the month, they took 100% of the monthly charge. I couldn't transfer my service to my new location because of some issue with "your new home/area is part of a different zone" or something along those lines.... so a completely new account had to be opened up. What a friggin' mistake!!! So, in short, if you like unreliable service, crappy outdated hardware, and getting screwed out of every penny possible, sign up with Spectrum!! They happily take 100% of the money and deliver less that 100% of the services you pay for. read more

I went with my family to switch over from verIzon. I can't speak for the coverage, but the customer service at the location was very poor. We were getting new phones and switching coverage. They chose to not explain everything clearly and we left with questions which should not be case. I would chose a different location and hopefully the service is better. read more

DO NOT SPEND your money with SPECTRUM, They refuse to take back 2 phones that DO NOT work we are disabled with a special needs sone and need Phones that work. We wanted to UPGRADE the phones and spend MORE money with them to get 2 phones that actually work. We were told to go to the phone manufacturer by the District Manager that we could NOT upgrade because we only contacted them once in person. (Mind you we HAD to purchase new phones because Spectrum no longer Services our inexpensive actual working phones. Also, My husband and I spent hours trying to trouble shoot the phones ourselves online with Tech Support, Samsung AND SPECTRUM before we went in.) The DIstrict Manager C. H. now 6 weeks later is STILL refuses to help us get those working phones stating store Policy as why. So if we have a medical emergency and cannot get ahold of Medical help that is on his and Spectrum's hands. (We have had Spectrum service at our Old home when it was Brighthouse FOR YEARS. When we moved we bundled with them because we thought they were a decent company. NOW that they are the FASTEST Growing Provider don't expect them to care one whit about you, because they will not!)
