I think the growth of the company is a real credit to Will and his coaching. A lot of actors in LA are often concerned with technique, maybe to a fault. I think Will's expertise comes from being an ACTUAL filmmaker. Not just one who made one or two films twenty years ago, but one who continually churns out movies in the industry and coaches as a director would coach on set! Not only that, but Will really cares about his students like his own family and is always doing everything in his power to make sure they succeed. That includes, but is not limited to inviting some of his various connections to class to watch his students perform, or helping guide students to find agents/managers, as well as making it possible that should a project ever come up, allowing students to help/work on set. There really is no other acting class in LA like Will's and I would recommend it to anyone who is tired of the cattle-call that Hollywood is known for. Toby's Casting Seminars create a fantastic audition environment, and help each and every individual student strengthen their weakness and thrive in their strengths. I took the Callback Intensive and it was a great workout. I definitely have my quirks and setbacks, Toby acknowledged them and helped me improve and move forward, making sure I could be the best possible actor in the room. He pointed out the little insecure fidgets I did when I wasn't feeling confident, or felt like I messed up, and talked me through ways to get rid of those feelings and gestures. Which in turn, helped me shine in the room. The intensive also focuses on what happens on the other side of the camera. How casting directors make their picks, how and why clients choose the talent to book, etc. You have to realize that no matter how good you are its not personal, and casting/clients have their own reasons to hire you for the job. The only thing you have control of is doing your best work, feeling strong, confident, kick ass, and move on to the next one. This class was a great challenge for me and I am thinking about taking another intensive soon! I have been referring friends to Toby like nobodies business. Since taking this class I have booked 8 commercials, one of them requiring me to join the Union. Take my advice and check out Lawless Casting Seminars!!

I heard about General Assembly classes because they list them on Facebook and it popped up in my…read morefeed as a targeted ad. I'm glad for this as that is how I signed up for a free 2-hour introductory class to coding. The class covered HTML and CSS and was designed to just a quick intro to see if you would be interested in taking a full class. Still I was surprised how much I learned in just a free intro course. Our instructor Allie covered a ton of theory so we understood the big picture and how the different developer languages (HTML, CSS and Javascript) played different roles. Much of the class was her guiding us through actually creating a mock webpage by immediately applying the coding principles and info she taught. I highly recommend bringing your computer for the hands-on portion. Also, Allie listed additional resources for us to explore on our own time, and we were promised the slide deck after. Being totally new to coding, I was able to take what I learned from the intro class and actually fix an issue THE NEXT DAY on the website that I manage for work! I rely on website templates but don't understand the HTML and CSS behind it so I was able to override the template that doesn't even allow me to change font attributes on hyperlinked text. Once you sign up for a class they send you promo emails with discounts, so I will probably look into taking a more full class. TIP: this is located right in the heart of Little Tokyo so there is plenty of sushi, ramen and snack options available before or after going to class here.

I have mixed feelings about GA…read more Pros: 1. This is one of the few places left where you can get actual, in-person instruction. If you're one who can't stick to learning on your own online, face-to-face instruction is the way to go. 2. I also like that they offer a wide variety of topics from web development and digital marketing to project management, sales pitching, and communication skills. 3. The instructors I've had so far have been knowledgeable and nice. 4. They have many free talks in the evenings, sometimes even with free nibbles. I attended one on the art of sales pitching. I think it was called something like "How to Sell Anything to Anyone." The speaker was excellent, and he gave really good tips. 5. The DTLA location has convenient parking ($5 evenings and wknds) at Joe's Garage a few doors down. I also like that you can enjoy the many Little Tokyo restaurants before or after class :) Cons: 1. Cost. If you want to take their multi-day courses, expect to pay $$$. That's what you gotta expect for in-person classes from a private school. I'd love to take more classes, but I can't be spending more thousands of dollars. Yes, they have a payment plan, but you still gotta pay them back. 2. If you're looking to start a new career, don't expect to be "career ready" after you've spent all that money. The classes don't go into much depth. They're more of an overview, just enough to get you started. Then comes the hard part - studying on your own by following all the blogs and video content out there. THAT takes discipline, and nobody can help you there. I wish knowledge could just be implanted in my brain without my having to exert effort. Just being honest. 3. They never answer the phone. The only way to get a response is via email. If you're on your way to an evening or weekend class and need to reach someone, you won't get a response if it's outside normal business hours. Conclusion: If you're disciplined and highly motivated, save your money and take advantage of the overwhelming number of free resources online. But if you're a lazy a-hole like me and you're willing to spend some serious money, take a GA course to at least get you started and pointed in the right direction.

So I searched on the internet for several years only to find that California had no aesthetic programs. The available aesthetic program was so far away. So jumping on a plane, paying for hotel expenses, rental car expenses and $14.989.00 for tuition was not feasible for me at that time. So pretty much I was discouraged and ended my search. My passion and desire for aesthetic still had the highlight of my thoughts, meaning my search ended but my passion remained alive! I admired every nurse who had a career in the aesthetics specialty. Sixteen Years Later 2016: I am really fortunate to have a very secure career as a nurse practitioner, however my passion for aesthetic/Cosmetics/ beautification is still at my highest desire and because of this burning desire I decided to begin my search to work in the field of aesthetic. Year 2017: Finally I found a company who provides aesthetic training in Los Angeles County!!!!!! I was so elated!!! Aesthetic Pro Workshop!!! The training was 1 week, lots of information, hands-on experience using state of the art equipment. I was somewhat nervous in the beginning, questioning if I could really learn all of the different modalities in 1 week. Emily's' calmness and support throughout the training helped me feel less intimidated and I was able focus on learning the skills necessary to be proficient in aesthetic. Dr. Kirby & Nurse Practitioner Emily brought a wealth of knowledge to our training and before I knew, I was very comfortable with Laser Tattoo Removals, Laser Hair Removal, Cool-sculpting, Clear+ Brilliant, injecting Botox and much more! Yes, that's right. The most valuable part of the classes was the classroom discussions & the hands on training. Aesthetic Pro Workshop provided us with an environment conducive for learning and practicality. I was able to bring someone to inject and another to lase their tattoo. At times I felt low key disrespected in a subtle passive aggressive way. The students were nice and friendly though, so I enjoyed connecting with them. Very sweet talented people. But I can't say I left feeling right. Was going to join this class, but can't bring myself to return, as I do acting for my own enjoyment and this class left me feeling out of sorts. Can not imagine doing it to myself on a weekly basis. Found a different acting school with more classes for less money in the same neighborhood, that comes highly recommended by the students. Acting industry can be frustrating enough for many reasons. Am acting class I pay for should not be a source of frustration, but on the contrary, a safe space of mentorship, growth, support, guidance and a creative space, where Actors can expand and reconnect with the bliss of doing what they love so much. And respect should be a necessary component. Actor's are human beings and deserve to be treated with due integrity.
