It's also very reassuring that they don't just tell the kids how to do the homework, they also try to get the kids to develop as independent learners so that they can use these skills throughout their career as students. I hope that as he goes here in the following weeks, I feel more relaxed about how he will perform on his own in high school and college.

Of course this school has the standard KRK curriculum but what it has to differentiate itself is heart & investment, i.e. Splash pad (2x a week in the summer = more work for the teachers but they believe it's worth it!), spring and fall festivals (the whole place turns into a giant carnival and it's all from the owners pockets), weekly magic man/ music enrichment / gym activities (also part of your tuition), spring and winter performances - real lights, choreography, music and performance by our little ones! The teachers here mostly have at least 5-10 years of service. That should speak volumes. In fact, because hiring is never perfect, when there were concerns, I have seen this team all hands on deck to address it effectively. So.... Their curriculum is faster paced which helps you get into the workforce much sooner than other schools. The establishment is a little on the smaller side but that leads to you forming more connections and getting to know more of your future workmates. They also offer AHA BLS training and the facility is a testing site for state exams so you wouldn't have to go very far for your state tests. The instructors are excellent and Mrs Thomas makes sure that everyone feels welcome and at home. Overall, ECR is an excellent choice if you are wanting to get into the medical field sooner than later.

My husband and I first learned about Kumon from one of his friends, whose child was enrolled in the…read moreprogram. This particular child was excelling far above his peers in both reading and math, and my husband took note of this. Upon doing some research ourselves about the Kumon approach to math and reading enrichment, my husband and I decided to tour a few of the locations nearest our home. Upon first arriving to the Lawrenceville/Collins Hill location, we were greeted by the director, Lubna Momin. Lubna shared a brief history of the program as well as how children naturally progress at their own pace through the various levels. Next, my son was given an initial assessment to evaluate what level he was currently in. This was free, and it took between 30-45 minutes. My husband and I waited for him in the lobby during this time. When my son finished his assessment with Lubna, she came out to the lobby to share the results with us, and shared suggestions on which level he could start on if we decided to move forward. We went home and thought about it for a week or so, as it is a commitment of both time and resources, but ultimately decided that this was a step we felt we should take if we wanted our son to truly be equipped academically for Kindergarten and the years following. Our son has been enrolled in the Lawerenceville/Collins Hill Kumon location since February, and we are so glad we made this decision. He completes 1 reading packet and 1 math packet at home every day, and 2 days a week goes to the Kumon Center for 1 hour to do his work alongside the teachers and his peers. He currently reads at a 1st grade reading level and is successfully working through 2nd grade level math as a Kindergartener! We are so proud of him and truly credit his success to Kumon. My family and I are so very grateful to the staff at this Kumon location, especially the director, Lubna.
