This shopping center deserves more stars. It's underrated IMHO…read more Let me explain why. Firstly, it has everything you need from a shopping center to do your shopping. Dunne's Store is great and big. Then you can finalize with butcher shop, €1 place, pharmacy, sports shop, carphone warehouse etc. that's shopping for you. Want to hang out or have a lunch? There's a place that robs your pockets. That's right - Eddie Rockets. There's some lunch cafeteria. Ice cream shop. Feel sick? Go to medical and dental centre. Or visit Boots pharmacy. Need a haircut? Barbershop and hairdresser is there for you. On a parking level you can get your shoes fixed, keys cut, get some flowers etc. One thing that this place lacks is entertainment. Actually, there's a kids train that drives around with wagons. At least kids can be entertained. Spacious underground car park. With, I think, two hours free time.

Charlestown is a bit of a random shopping center. From the outside it looks impressive and big, but…read moreon the inside it's empty, cold and lacking in any kind of substance. I visited recently to make some last minute Christmas purchases and really found myself stuck for options. Dunnes is your usual affair, if a bit small. I would generally shop at GameStop, but that aside there is literally nothing in this place. I would save yourself the journey and head out to Blanchardstown or the Omni Center for a better selection of stores.

I went to MacNally's last year having gone to a high street brand for years and I expected to pay…read moremore, but also to get a better level of care. Unfortunately it was a costly mistake. Ironically the two consultants I met first, had been trained in Specsavers and to be honest they were lovely, but the owner/optician who did the final consultation was awful.I felt pushed into getting a pair of bi focal glasses with top end frames and they really were no fit for purpose. I returned in a couple of weeks to say that I just could not see the computer properly and I had stated that this was my main reason for needing the glasses. The owner dismissed me and said I just needed to get used to them. A year later, I am almost a thousand euro down, the expensive frames broke and the glasses are useless to me.Never again !

Okay, I'm getting carried away here, they really do have some really nice frames but they're all top drawer stuff, most of them are titanium, and all of them are on the pricey side. The staff couldn't be nicer, even when a scruff like me, obviously not wearing glasses, walks in for a poke about I was greeted cordially. So, if I ever need glasses, and have a little more change than usual jingling about in my pocket, I'll hit MacNally Opticians.

It's perhaps a trifle untimely that I am writing this review at this point rather than later on, as…read moreI shall have to pay John Quill a visit in the near future, as I lost the last pair of glasses that John prescribed me the last night I was in Rí-Rá. It's unlikely that I shall have sufficient liquidity to replace them anytime soon though, so I might as well squint at the computer screen and write the review now. Quill's have been serving the health and well-being, ocular and otherwise, of the good people of Killester for nigh on forty years. Dennis Quill, John's father, ran a chemist where John's office currently is; John opened his optician practice when his father died almost twenty years ago. John is very pleasant man, and has been the optician for two generations of my myopic family. I got my first pair of glasses from John about two years ago, my eyesight worsening later than is customary for a member of my family. John is a very friendly and jovial man, and tested my eyes in no time at all. He then asked me to pick out frames for my glasses; I had been apprehensive about this part, as I was worried that he would only stock a range of terribly old-man, unfashionable frames (my Dad also gets his glasses from John Quill). However, the first frames he suggested looked great, they used to make me look the right hot nerd, I'm very pissed off that I lost them. So when I am feeling profligate enough to consider splashing out on non-blurry vision, John Quill's in Killester will be my first port of call.

I visited John Quill Opticians today and have to say what a pleasant experience it was. I went for…read morean examination for my driving license eyesight report form. John took the time to explain the procedures and results. It's good to have such dedicated talent in our community. Ray
