My mom had her patio screened in and it looks great. One of the corners has come loose, she has called 3 times to get it fixed and the response she gets is it's the holidays we're short-handed, and then it was we have some people out sick and 4 days ago when she called she gets well they're doing scheduling right now we'll get back to you. And they have not gotten back to her. It is in the corner it just needs to be pushed back in it's not ripped it's loose it is a 10-minute job and they don't have time to come and fix it before it gets worse it does get very windy here sometimes. Mr Bear, the estimate/salesman was responsive to my phone inquiries. However the delivery time was iffy and precarious. Finally the delivery day arrived. The worker arrived on time. After the custom patio shade cover was instilled I had an issue with the support framing. The craftsmen returned and worked the problem which I had created with my original design drawing. No extra charge for my error. Specialty Sewing is an honorable locally owned company which has earned their reputation for great customer service. read more

We have just moved to Yuma and Specialty Sewing was referred to us by a former customer and neighbor. I called and a gentleman by the name of "Bear" came out to give an estimate. He told me he remembers the house as his company had done the previous work on this property. He was very thorough and spent time explaining what would be done. Three weeks after the quote. 2 installers came to do the work required. I have never had someone work so professionally as they did. They were very precise at their job and made sure after completion that any and all questions were answered. They do amazing work and offer reasonable rates. Specialty Sewing has completed a couple of projects for me and I couldn't be happier with the results. Quality materials and the workers are courteous and professional. My first project was replacing screens along one side of my patio to protect from afternoon sun. The project was completed without a hitch and exceeded my expectations. Flies are particularly bothersome during the cooler months when it is most pleasant to spend outdoor time on the patio so I hired them to totally screen a section of my patio. Again, same quality materials and professional workmanship. I had one issue, however, and that is the main reason I am writing this review: There was a small area that I felt was screened inadequately. I called. Bear came out. Looked it over and few days later a couple workers showed up and took care of it. No excuses. No questions. No extra charges. That's the kind of company I like to do business with. These guys are busy so you might have to wait a few weeks for them to get to you but they are worth waiting for. read more

I contacted "Specialty Sewing Senter" in Yuma, AZ, because no one else makes carport canopies in my City of Brawley, CA. I scheduled an appointment and "Bear" came out to measure the carport canopy I needed. He told me there was a $35.00 Estimate charge. if I did not order from them. I agreed to the charge, which would be added into the fee for this job. Bear seemed very nice when he came out & he did say, because of the arch on the top, that the "drop down" piece of vinyl, I asked for, would not meet the pipe, that there would be a "little" space. I pointed to the side, where part of the old canopy was still up, it had a "ONE" inch gap. I asked him, if that was the type of space he was talking about and he said yes. I said that small gap was fine. I asked for a drop down piece, like the old one still up there on the west end, to keep the setting sun out of the car windshield. I was quoted $630.00 for the entire job, including the drop down piece, which he said would be $95.00. I was a bit upset as that kind of money is difficult to come by on a Fixed Budget income, but I really needed it, and since no one else making them, I agreed to the job. Bear did give me a $20.00 discount on the $630.00 bill. I waited three weeks for the installation and when they came out, they only installed the top, which looked great, but no drop down piece. I asked Bear why they didn't have it and he said that "they" had cut the piece too big and they would make another one & install it as soon as it was done. Bear didn't come for that installation & when the two other guys were done, I went outside and saw large gaps about six inches, between the pipe and the vinyl. I was quite upset to see this Eddie called Bear on his phone. I told Bear that was not acceptable, it was not the distance we talked about. He said he would charge me MORE $$ to make another one OR take it down and not make another one, or I could take a $20.00 discount and leave it up. I NEEDED that drop down or I would not have paid extra for it. So I agreed to leave it up, however, during the days that followed, there was so much Sun coming right into the car windshield I called Bear back and told him the drop down was not working and in 115 degree heat, I needed one like the one I had before. He got very LOUD, disrespectful and talked over me and told me he was recording our conversation. I told him good, that I wish he had recorded our FIRST conversation and he needed to fix this. After yelling back and forth, I hung up the phone and 30 seconds later, he called me back and said he would make another drop down piece "the best he could", (why didn't he do that in the first place)? and said I would have to sign off on the three year warranty. I declined. I hope I don't ever have to call them during the three years. I would not want to deal with this company again. read more

I had gone here to have all my window coverings and tire covers made and was satisfied but I went back to have my sofa cushions fitted with new foam. I was shown the top of the line and chose that because the sofa gets a lot of use and I have back problems. When I came to pick them up there was total confusion. They didn't know where the cushions were and after finding them they couldn't find the paperwork,!? That should have been a red flag for me. They started to charge me for more cushions than I had brought in and couldn't figure out the price. I had my copy of the bill so I paid and left. It's been 2 weeks and the cushions didn't seem to be holding up after paying almost $300.00 for 3 pieces of foam!!? I unzipped the cushion and saw that they gave me the cheap version and not the top grade. I'm extremely upset and will be going back again. I'm very tired of business places making errors and we have to double check everything.,... and trust no one. I will update this after my visit back to the mass confusion in the store. read more

It was a good experience and good workmanship and quality. The problem I had was they quoted me one price over the phone. They said that it would cost $400 to $450 to make a bra for my rv. When I paid the staff, they charged me $550. I complained to the manager after he got back from a job, and all he said was "Sorry about that"! I expected that he would honor his quote but all I got was the cold shoulder. You might want to go somewhere else and get a better deal without mis-quotes. read more

We have used Specialty Sewing for the first time about 7 years ago when they helped us design the screening for our porch which they installed and as of this date screens are still in great shape and provide great sun screening. Since then every time we needed any screening we just called SS they showed up promptly gave us a great price and provided first class installation and quality materials. Recently we decided to replace 13 window screens that where original to the unit, we called SS and Bear came over reviewed with us what we wanted to do and gave us a great price using their best quality screening materials. Not long after Eddie and his crew came and installed the screens to our satisfaction and as always our experience with Speciality Sewing was Outstanding with their wonderful customer service. Purchased covers for screens on our Arizona room. They were well built but blew off. So they took our money to reinforce them and reinstall them and lied saying that it was done knowing we live out of town. It has taken seven months still not done. read more

Unreliable & incompetant! We should have left when the man in front of us found out his order was not done when promised. Jan 26 .we ordered 4 curtain panels for the inside of our RV, leaving 2 of the original curtain panels as "templates" for Aurora (owner) to work from. On the promised completion date of Feb 3, I called to be sure the order was done. I was told they could not find my order & I would be called back later that day. No call came. About noon the next day we went to their location, still not having been called back, to get my curtains. Bear (Sales Manager) could not find my order (again!) & told us to come back later after the boss got back from lunch. I explained the unsuccessful call from the day before & my frustration, and left. We called later, were told the order had not been started, & returned to retrieve my original curtains. We were told the order had been covered up by another order & my bag of curtains had almost been thrown out as trash!! They had no way to complete the order before we left Yuma 3 days later (all explained when the order was placed & delivery date established!) and refunded our deposit money with no appologies.
