I would NOT recommend Specialized Truck Repair in Fairview, TN, especially if you rely on your truck for your livelihood. We brought our commercial dump truck in for a clutch replacement after being told over the phone it would be approximately a **10-hour job** and they could start the next day. Once the truck was there, communication was terrible. We repeatedly had to call for updates, they initially sent the quote to the wrong email, and suddenly the 10-hour job was being quoted at **18 hours**. When we questioned it, we were told they were adding extra time to "cover themselves" because it was a dump truck. As the truck sat there for days, we were contacted about additional parts they said were bad, including the cross shafts and flywheel. We approved the repairs but specifically told Chelsea that we wanted to see the old parts when we picked up the truck. She agreed. Kevin the shop foreman told me the clutch job was finished but then actually questioned **why we had the clutch replaced because he looked at it and didn't think anything was wrong with it.** That was extremely concerning considering this was the entire reason the truck was brought there. It makes you wonder how he got a job there! We arranged to pick the truck up at 8:30 the next morning because we live 1 1/2 hours away. We arrived at 8:35 and still waited approximately **45 minutes because they didn't even have our bill ready.** We were then charged an additional **4% credit card fee** because they would not accept our business check. When I asked to see the flywheel they replaced--as we had specifically agreed upon--I was told they had **already turned it in as a core**, so we never got to inspect the part we were told was bad. This is called our shop is not busy enough so we will make things up and nickel and dime anyone that comes our way. And after all of that, we got the truck back and discovered there was ZERO free play in the clutch. It wasn't even adjusted properly. This is a working dump truck that provides our livelihood, and having it down costs us money every day. The lack of communication, changing labor expectations, failure to keep the parts as promised, and returning the truck without the clutch properly adjusted made this an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience. Don't say you weren't warned about this place!! Based on our experience, I would not trust Specialized Truck Repair with another one of our trucks and cannot recommend them to other owner-operators or businesses. read more

Please read the reviews before doing any work with this company. Sadly I am reading the reviews after getting lied to and ripped off. I requested a quote in advance of the work and they sent it to me. Read the breakdown of how they charge. This is what it states: 150/ hour and 2 hours minimum $75 technology fee (never heard of this in the industry before). Ridiculous 50 service fee Ok so they arrived at 9 pm per texting history and finished at 10:30 pm. Simply diagnostics. So this shouldn't be more than $425. So why did they charge me $994.19? This was actually a one hour diagnostic fee where they determined that my def filter is too clogged and it needs to be cleaned or replaced. They couldn't perform a Regen. So would I trust them to take it to their shop to get more work done on it? They lost my business because they lied and gouged me. Beware of this company. I will make sure to contact the better business buero and file a complaint about them. No one should ever have to get ripped off like this. They are taking advantage of broken down trucks. They even threatened to tow my truck away and impound it when I questioned their charges being double what they had quoted me. Please stay away from this company. Look at the pictures attached. They include all the facts. It has their initial quote, how much they charge me and the time the driver arrived and when he messaged me the result of the diagnostics. My truck is till stuck without pairs and I will keep looking for a company that can help me get it fixed that is honest and fair. read more

Would have given 0 stars if it was an option. I have been in the trucking industry for over 10 years and have never had a worse experience than i have had dealing with this shop. Absolutely no follow up and they took over 3 weeks before they even looked at my truck, all while telling me it was next in line every time i called. The girl who answers the phone at the shop would throw you a rock if you were drowning. After continuously being lied to i took the truck to another shop in the area and it's was fixed in two days. Do yourself a favor and keep looking! read more

The absolute worst experience I ever had. Traveling through Nashville, the DEF poor quality error and truck engine light came on. Specialized had no clue how fix. Paid $700 and 16 hours later - the same error message and engine light was still on. Then they gave me a quote of $1700 and two days to "really" fix my truck. I took truck to Chevy dealer they fixed in half the time for half the cost. This place was a waste of time and money. read more

Recently had a overhaul on my motor here. Ed the mechanic is awesome and particular about the work he does. Although I can not say about the other person that put the parts back on the outside of the motor. One bolt cross threaded and one not even tightened down. This caused my belts to come of of fan and sheared one bolt. Broke down on side of road. All though they came and fixed it. I lost five hundred and fifty dollars In pay do to one of there employees unprofessional work. And when ask about covering my lost pay do to this. Victoria's response in the office was we didn't charge u to come and fix it. The whole point is that when u pay shop to repair ur truck it should be right. But this company thinks u should eat the lost causes by there employee's unprofessional work. Again ed the mechanic is awesome. Would have give stars. But not do to this read more

Mid-morning arrival after being referred to Specialty truck repair by another local business, to have my rear leaf springs replaced. The girl at the counter seemed pleasant enough, as she confirmed that my passenger vehicle - 99 Dakota was not to small for them to work on. She told me they'd get to my truck, and I left. After walking around for an hour or so, I realize they are in no hurry to deal with my truck. A U-haul employee brings a truck in, they fix it and get her right out the door. At this point I feel they are at least a decent shop; this assumption is based on the customer service being observed. These guys don't know me, so why should I expect preferential treatment; but no one has even looked at my truck. At this point I've been here over 2 hours. A buddy of mine, also having issues with the customer service at this shop picks me up, and we take off. About 4 pm I receive a call from the shop, to inform me I have the incorrect leaf springs. I ordered these springs from Summit, almost 2 years ago. This project has taken all kinds of wrong turns so the parts just sat in my shed until I had time to take them to a shop. I could do this job myself, however I've been searching for a reliable, responsible, responsive mechanic because I like old cars & trucks. After speaking with the parts manager and suggesting that the pins in the leaf spring be removed, turned over, and re-installed in order to provide the correct set-up for my truck. He explained to me that the pin was tapered, so the leaves had to be installed in the same position. I felt he was wrong, and that I could prove it in about 10 mins, but he had proven that he didn't want to work on my truck. I paid him the $187.04 balance -he did reduce the shop rate for me and drove home. I call Summit and explain the situation. The girl I'm speaking with puts me on hold for about 2 minutes. When she returns, she says, "are you still at your same address?" Summit shipped me replacement springs at no cost, just in case it was their fault! As soon as I saw the replacement parts I realized my initial reaction was correct. After about 15 minutes I've changed the pin position on the "incorrect leaf springs." At this point I still feel this can be resolved, I'll just call the shop and they'll surely do their best to make this right. I call and ask for the parts manager, by name and explain what has transpired. * He's the one who told me I had the wrong leaf springs - Incorrect * He's the one who told me the pins could not be removed and re-installed - Incorrect Tyler assured me he would let the tech know. However, nothing about his lack of professionalism, lack of knowledge about truck parts, and/or his lack of motivation to research and problem solve. (He is the parts manager, at lease that's what his card says.) Maybe they don't like tall, funny looking guys that wear glasses at Specialized Truck Repair... read more
