Carson-Speaks honored my step dad's pre-need plan. It was a plan bought from the man who went…read morebankrupt, and didn't return any of the money and is now in jail. I vaguely remember it in the news about 15 years ago, but heard about it almost every time I talked with my mom. Our first visit with Carson-Speaks was on July 5th. That gave us only a day or so planning cause of July 4th. My stepdad passed on July 3rd. Seriously, though, the team at Carson-Speaks moves fast. We did the regular meet with the funeral home appointment. Arrangements and settings were explained, and selected. No funeral home appointment is joyous or uplifting, even though they call it a celebration. It's really not a celebration, but I appreciate the selling point. The fact that they are selling something was subliminal, and not noticed with our first funeral director. Our first funeral director did a great job. We appointed a celebrant cause there is no religious affiliation. They gave us a choice of poems, 10 pages of poems, one of which was selected to be printed in the program. We went through over 200 poems on July 5th, and returned to Carson-Speaks the 6th with our selection. On the 6th, we met with the appointed celebrant, for more than 2 hours. My stepdad was a war hero, and it was a full military honors funeral. A special award is given in his honor. The first one was presented to us at the funeral, by a speaker I set up and arranged. The connections went smooth, and I was pleased. On July 6th, we had a different funeral director, who reminded me of a salesman. He was okay, but his personality and energy level seemed high strung and inaccurate. But everyone has different personalities. On the day of the funeral, it went smooth, except for one thing that was never explained to us: a picture on the program was missing. When we picked up the flowers and pictures and picture boards I had made on July 6th yesterday,, our easels were missing from our pictures. It was questioned then, about the lack of a picture on the fold out. It was suggested that this be explained to other customers. That's my main complaint. The rest was really nice, with full military honors at the grave site. They thanked us for selecting "Carson-Speaks for our time of need" after the military honors...It's okay, for a selling point. They gave us a flag cover, shell casings, and it was a very honorable event. I would use them again, hopefully not soon. I will request a picture on the program. The programs appear vacant. They provided us thank you notes, which is going to keep me busy today, so I need to get off of Yelp and get started.

Reflections Memorial Services came highly recommended to us from the Jackson County Medical Examiner's office and we found their expectations to be true. You get what you pay for with this place. When my FIL died they said his brother(who I'll call D)…read morecame in and paid for all services and that my FILs ashes would be ready to be picked up that next week. When those days came and went and we didn't get any phone calls we called them to see what is up. They apologized and said that it was the wrong uncle D (same first name) and it was another family member that was paid for, not my FIL, all while giving us the first and last names of some other family they were doing services for durring this time. They told us for the inconvenience we could have the $20 death certificate for free. We gave them the benefit of the doubt. Since we unexpectedly needed to pay $1000 we needed two days for our bank to transfer funds so we asked if that would delay the cremation process. We were told that it would NOT delay the cremation process and that my FIL would again be ready for pick up in a few days. The next week after still not ever getting a single phone call or courtesy call we called back AGAIN to see why he wasn't ready. We were told he hadn't even been cremated yet as we hadn't paid...if we knew it needed sent we would have paid it the first week. It took FIVE times of them telling us he would be ready before I was actually able to pick up the ashes. When I was told my FIL was ready to pick up I was never given a time or appointment. When I showed up I had to sit in the car with my 1 year old for 35 minutes because he still wasn't even there... of course after mentioning all this to the owner he, like stated before me, did not take responsibility. I was told his rececptionist didn't tell us any of that and that that didnt happen, and that because he "trains his staff so well" he "knows it wasn't a mistake on their end". He had some sticky note with "9-2" written on it and said that he wasn't there because it wasn't my appointment time and that's my fault. He did let me know that payment before cremation was in the fine print we signed, which of course is our fault for not reading, yes, but the fact that we obviously didnt know that and specifically asked and was told it wouldnt delay the process was so wrong. My FIL layed in a freezer for 2 weeks before he was finally ready 15 days later. The owner also went on to tell me information about the previous Google reviews and how he's in a lawsuit with them and why..not sure about that but either way he was giving out MORE INFORMATION about other people that he did services for! If I knew he would tell me that much about others I wouldn't have trusted him with our family member or our family information! Also the "Urn" we paid for was just a thin black plastic box with their sticker on it.. Aaannnndddd...que the denial response

We scheduled a service appointment for our malfunctioning washer after performing preliminary…read moretroubleshooting ourselves and seeking confirmation of the issue. The technician confirmed a diagnosis and identified a part that he stated needed replacement. However, the repair estimate provided was significantly higher than anticipated. After we indicated that we needed to discuss the cost with our father, the price was reduced, though it remained quite expensive. Given the high quote, we chose to purchase the recommended part independently at a lower cost. Unfortunately, after installing the part, we discovered that it did not resolve the problem and was not the underlying issue. As a result, we incurred $120 in diagnostic fees and $150 for an unnecessary part. Due to the time lost and difficulty obtaining the correct part elsewhere, we ultimately had to purchase a new washer. We subsequently contacted the company to request a refund of the diagnostic fee, given that the diagnosis proved to be incorrect. Our request was denied, and we were told that the replaced part could have contributed to the issue or were provided other explanations. This was a lengthy and frustrating experience that resulted in significant unnecessary expense. We encourage others to proceed with caution when considering their services.
