They have hundreds of cats and less than eight dogs so I don't consider it a dog rescue, but should be advertised as a cat rescue

Staff is very nice. But definitely this place need a deep cleaning. Cats are well taken care of, but the smell is too much.

They aren't fancy but they are kind and caring. They know their animals by name and show care and compassion for each one.

I brought her home 13 days ago and she has not only grown already and taken over the entire house and my husbands heart(he doesn't like cats, haha). She is a hoot to watch and keeps us laughing. Everything is a toy of course. My experience with the Humane Society was smooth, upfront regarding everything and I will go back at some point if necessary. By the way CC stands for crazy cat.

I would like to say I was happy with the two cats I adopted. Then we adopted two dogs, and we had…read moreno clue about the breed. Thay were dogs that work with cattle. They were very beautiful dogs; our only mistake was getting two at one time. So, we brought them back to the shelter. They seemed disappointed, But we thought we were doing the right thing. They both found a home and I'm very happy about that. But we went to adopt another dog and they turned us down, said this dog was very energetic and would not be a good fit for us. To be judge n jury to people who wanted to adopt an animal out of the shelter. We were very upset and still see it up for adoption. We have a awesome dog at home and she is trying to play with the cats. The cats don't want to play with her, since she is a lot bigger then them. We have a 1/2 acker yard for them to play in. My animals are spoiled, ask my friends. So, if you're going to be that way with people, maybe you should find a different job. So, if you're looking to adopt an animal, you should go to Hernando Sheriffs adoption center.

I have been contributing $20 per month to Second Chance for Strays for about ten years. I had heard…read moreabout the work this facility does from friends, and was impressed with their philosophy and their endeavors .I just liked what they were doing, and had never thought that I would be doing more than trying to help out. But-- I recently placed a young kitty with them for adoption: a beautiful white polydactyl with blue eyes-- abused and abandoned by the original owners .I'd thought, that this lovely, unusual young cat would be adopted immediately---but she had developed fear issues, and had to be removed from the standard adoption procedures for further socialization. Over the top, as far as I am concerned: SECOND CHANCE, indeed! I urge all cat-lovers to contribute to this facility-- even a small amount, on a regular basis. Barb

On The appointment Notes it stated Serious discharge in both eyes, crushed discharge in right nostril, after that it was written with a pen NOT TRUE. Today December 20th my cat had a swollen and closed eye.I was worried I couldn't get in touch with the person responsible for Second Chance for Strays adoption. I went to the closest pet clinic I spent $ 256 between visit, medication for the eyes, 2 shots one for preventing lung problems and a steroid one for the inflammation and a booster to put inside the food. I truly recommend that just before you get an animal get it examined by a veterinarian right there at the adoption center expense. They lied on the medical records I even asked is she okay health wise? And the replies was yes. So disappointed !

This dog was abandoned and found in a field with her sister when they were just 10 weeks old and Julie took them into her rescue and sprayed and vaccinated them and found forever homes for them. She is healthy and the best dog that I have ever had. I see Julie out at adoption events from time to time and she has always has amazing dogs and cats and does a great job. I totally recommend her rescue.

I think Gianna thinks she is a puppy. Or maybe it is the other way around. If you are looking to adopt, I highly recommend Royal Rescue. Julie has an amazing network of people who foster. That give homeless Mama's and their babies a chance. Gianna's Mom came in as a feral cat. And due to constant love and touch Gianna's foster Mom, Pam McDonald gave to these Mama and her babies changed the outlook of their lives forever. Gianna is the most loving kitten. When she isn't sleeping side by side with Kylo. She falls asleep on our chest and ends up on our neck. Wrapped around like a scarf. She of course came to us completely litter box trained. I apologize this review is so lengthy, but I have actually shortened it. Thank you again Julie and Pam!!! I know the work you do isn't easy and is very time consuming. But so very admirable. You are all a blessing. Love Always, Elaine Gennuso
