Black Sheep Coffee - Charming corner

Coolest coffee spot in Oxford. You can't miss it being located right in the corner of High st and…read moreSt. Aldate's. Easy to order from the screen but they're super helpful if you're stuck or don't know how to navigate it. An old man actually showed up while I was ordering and he had no clue what to do. He must have been in his 80s, it was nice to see how chilled and super patient he was helped by the guy behind the counter, who walked and helped him. Cheers to that. The place itself is so clean and super spacious. Two levels with the WC on the bottom level. The large windows on the top level allow you to seat and watch the street outside. The chairs to lounge are super cozy and comfy. My coffee latte was super tasty and my ham and cheese sandwich was the perfect combination of sweet and savory.

Mediocre coffee and breakfast sandwitches if you have no other option. Their acai is some of the…read moreworst I have ever tried. Straight out of the freezer. If you add extra toppings they just will not add them. You have to wait over 10 minutes after recieving it for it to melt even to the extent that you can begin breaking up the solid frozen block of acai, banana, granola, and penut butter. Even once it has thawn enought to attempt to eat it, all components are bland and flavourless. Also insanely expensive (£8+) for an approx 7.5 cm diameter bowl of frozen, flavourless slop.

It was a tough decision …read more... but 4.5 rounds up to 5 and I believe the faculty deserves top remarks. So where do I start? Despite my continuing suspicion of why there's a wall in the place between the 2 still bizarres me. The sandwich and juice bar is fantastic. The first time I visited the banh mi was 5/5 with the pork being seasoned to perfection in addition to the crispy bread and salad. This time round, I was able to enjoy the massive beef brisket and melted cheese, I feel so full just thinking about it. If you're able to visit during a good time, you should also try the salads too with your sandwich, it is mixed everyday so it is lottery at what's available. My most memorable so far will always be with sriracha slaw, not too spicy and not too creamy but very crunchy and flavoursome. Next comes the drinks bar, served with the most amazing selection of cakes. The drinks bar offer a great selection of coffee and teas, to which my delight they serve dragon well! At the time I'm writing this review I have a packed peanut butter cookie on the go, however I'm very confident it will taste amazing having seen them made it live before. Faculty maybe small but do not underestimate it! It is the David vs Goliath(s) of tea coffee shops. Would visit again!

A small flat white and small cappuccino for £6 total is a rare find these days and we both loved our drinks. So much flavour and nice, strong coffee. My only reason for giving 4 stars is that the layout was a bit cramped and it was slightly lacking in customer service. If you're just popping in for a takeaway coffee though, this is a fab spot.

We'd been…read morestopping over here in Ludlow on our way to Snowdonia in Norther Wales and my radar for low-key, no-fuss, down-to-earth food was triggered when I saw the Olive Branch from the outside. Seriously, it's not a stylish restaurant, but the concept, the food and the overall atmosphere is absolutely lovely. I loved ordering at the counter cafeteria-style and then taking your trays to one of the wooden cubicles. The food was just as I expected: wholesomely tasty! We took some cheese scones for the ride and had them later for tea when we arrived at our cottage! Definitely recommend this place!

Where do I start? OK... go to Ludlow on a Saturday evening and plan to eat out without booking…read moreahead and you'll spend ages finding a restaurant. This is what happened to us. We eventually managed to find The Olive Branch and even though they were very busy and had lots of reserved tables we managed to get a table "laid up" for us. This place has lots of past Egon Roney awards and has a very laid back, Bohemian menu. The staff, if a little young, were very enthusiastic and full of energy. The menu wasn't extensive but there was a very good selection of dishes all of which were cooked wonderfully and the portion control was perfect. Amongst the four covers (Chicken stuffed with Shropshire blue cheese and wrapped in smoked bacon, Lamb and Apricot pie and Vegetable tarts) we were served a selection of salads (bean, fruit and nut and traditional green leaf) as well as a selection of stir fried vegetables. This was very novel and ensured we could pick and choose our accompaniments. The wine selection was also very nice - the Pinot Grigo went down far too well and we managed to consume a couple bottled with ease. It would be too easy to over look The Olive Branch but if you're in town do yourself a favour and drop in as you'll be pleasantly surprised.

Quarter Horse is based from Oxford and the Birmingham branch is it's sister shop. The space here is vast with huge ceilings and windows at the front and back of the shop coupled with minimalist furniture, there is plenty of seating and will be very exciting to see all these full once the name of Quarter Horse name gets out to Birmingham. I enjoyed a silky latte this morning which was excellent in taste and kept me warm from the wet weather outside. QH are using Round Hill coffee beans at the moment which is a welcome change from the many other fine coffee shops in Birmingham. At the moment, QH is limited to hot drinks (they opened 2 days ago) so it will be interesting to see what food and other additions QH will provide over the coming weeks and really develop into a place with its own identity. But what is extremely exciting for coffee buffs is that on one side of the shop, a new roaster is going to be installed within the next 2 weeks! First in Birmingham! I'm sure I am not the only person who is thrilled at this prospect and cannot wait to see this in action. I have been to many coffee shops in London where this set up works very effectively so this will certainly be something Brummies can be proud of.
