The statement "let me know if I need to find someone else" came after a txt thread of you already canceling BUT saying you could "try" to squeeze me in. I am not nor did I state or insinuate that I wanted you to not service the other client. I simple stated it was unprofessional to cancel due to the slot being open and available at the time of booking . You are absolutely correct in not faulting those who may have a tough time with technology. You clearly not being one of those people, should have stricken that time slot from your booking site. Which would have then not allowed me to book despite the time of my booking. Which would have then lead me to not book then or at a later time. Yet instead here we are. Again sir you are at fault. Please do not customer blame and try to shit the narrative away from the fact that you made a mistake. Spates Auto responded to my inquiry promptly, on a Sunday evening that happened to be Mother's Day, and gave me a very reasonable quote for a diagnostic visit. They knowledgeably answered all my 20-something year old son's questions that reflected my son knows very little about how things "under the hood" work (mamma tried ya'll, mamma tried lol) and spent a lot of time talking him through the process. While my son ended up not taking my advice (again) and took it to the nearest shop to the car's location this morning, I will be keeping and referring others to Spates Auto because good mobile mechanics are sooooooo hard to find. read more

We thought we had a Freon leak. Spates representative showed up exactly on time a did a quick diagnostic and found that we had failed to change a console setting. Silly us, but I do appreciate that he found it quickly and did not try to sell us unneeded parts or service. Will definately call them again if we have a "real" problem . read more

I called Jay about a coolant/oil leak in my Pacifica....he knew exactly what the problem was and recommended an aluminum oil/coolant housing instead of the cheap plastic ones they are assembled with. Jay was extremely responsive to my calls/texts. While he was under the hood, he didn't mind me asking questions as he was working. He made extra sure the new housing wasn't leaking and also did a quick inspection on the rest of the car. I had a weird noise in my car. It bothered me for months. I requested service and got a quote for $50 less than the other quotes for diagnosis. I figured why not try. Jay came to my house, checked out my car, and in under an hour found and fixed the problem. He wasn't even going to charge me more than the diagnosis fee, but I put a tip on it because he was super efficient, friendly, and knew what he was doing! Thanks, Jay. Five stars! I requested a O2 sensor replacement. First he moved my truck into the street. That's ok but he turned it off too fast and killed the battery. He had no jumper cables so he took the battery to AutoZone and said he needed a new one. That was the start of the trouble. He took less than 30 mins to "fix it's at that point I have purchased the part and a new battery. He said call me if it fails " sometimes the codes are read wrong at places like O'Reilly's and AutoZone. " So he has the parts and he spent 10 minutes putting it in. What I saw on YouTube took way more time and taking parts off the truck to reach it. He did one of that! I got robbed ! Nearly 400 dollars later he left and said the code was clear but to let him know if the light came on again. It did... Seconds after pulling out. I turned around came back home and contacted him. He says " I told you that could be wrong. The code wasn't cleared it was reset by the new battery I didn't need to buy. He fixed nothing and charged me for the parts he had purchased ( I'm fine with that part I think but in the interest of telling it all the facts are necessary. I spoke to the woman with him and the I told you so was the last of our conversation. He didn't respond back. This guy is a loser. He fixed nothing and refunded me nothing. He said he would come back for a code read for 98 dollars. I'm angry and sad that a person could rip me off like this... Now i have to pay a new mechanic to fix it. I'm going with the mechanic that works on my husbands bosses vehicles because I know he will fix it right. When I get that info I will tell y'all how he did. In the meantime I am stuck at home with no vehicle needing groceries and other errands I do usually during the week. This guy, he's a piece of shit. Don't trust him. EVER! I find it odd he messed up my battery and warned me it could not be the right code. The battery was fine he didn't give the battery a chance to recharge. Starting over is going to cost me money I don't really have to spare. Good luck if you use him. Don't say you weren't warned! read more
