I went to Grand Strand Dentistry back in October for a tooth extraction. Initially, I was told the…read moretooth could be pulled for around $300, which I was fine with. While there, the staff strongly encouraged me to get an implant instead and explained that they use Cherry for monthly payments. I asked them to run my insurance and give me the total cost before I agreed to anything. After waiting about 30 minutes, they came back and told me the total would be $1,900 for four visits, everything included. Based on that information, I agreed and signed up with Cherry. The first two visits went fine. However, when I came in today for my third visit, I was suddenly told I owed an additional $1,700. I explained that I was already enrolled in Cherry and had agreed to a total of $1,900. The front desk employee admitted she could see the quote I was given, but said what she had in the system was different. After speaking with the office manager, they still insisted I owed $1,700 more. I made it clear I was not agreeing to any additional charges beyond what I was originally quoted. I also asked for a partial refund since, at this point, the only service performed was pulling the tooth. They refused. So in the end, I paid $1,900 for a single tooth extraction--something I was originally told would cost about $300. Please be very careful if you go here. Make sure you get everything in writing and verify exactly what you're agreeing to. This experience was extremely disappointing and feels very misleading

I did not need emotional support; I needed people focused on dental health. I did not wait long for an appointment, which I am convinced prevented the development of an infection. I was quickly numbed after a brief but thorough examination, and the extraction was complete before my chair could get warm. The cost was reasonable and they will bill my insurance for reimbursement directly to me. Overall, I could not have asked for better care.

It was going to be a tough extraction as the roots were long and fragile. I was dreading it, but his staff was great as was Dr. Rollar. He worked hard getting it, but I felt no pain or panic at all. It was the beginning of many months of visits as a bone graft had to be done, months of healing time, several imagings done to monitor bone growth, the post for the implant had to be put in and then the bone allowed to grow around that. At each step, I was given clear information of what was to be done and why. The pricing was explained in full at the very beginning so there were no surprises. The staff was great and seemed well trained for their various positions. The imaging equipment was impressive, allowing me to view multiple views. By May of 2023, the implant post was ready for me to get my new tooth! A long journey, but very successful. I highly recommend this practice.

Glenns Bay Dentists had been listed as "Best of the Beach", so when my son need some dental work, I…read morecalled and they took him in immediately. They put him on antibiotics and filled his cavities. I was so impressed, as I had not used them in the past, but they took care of my son like he was a patient all his life. Since that time, my son told me that he was very impressed with the dentist and how at ease he felt in his care. I think it was Dr. Cleary. Well my son went on and on about how much he liked the dentist. I felt great for taking him there. Recently, my husband began to have dental pain. He was anxious about going and what kind of care he would receive. I suggested we stop by the office and talk to them. The lovely receptionist said, "we have an opening at 3 PM today", and we took it. She then handed my husband forms to fill out, so he would be ready upon his return. My husband was leery about trying this dentist, as he never needed medical care here. I said, "You still have time to cancel if you wish". He didn't, and went to the appointment. He saw Dr. Goldberg, and when he came out, he was so impressed with the dentist and the care he was provided, he went on and on about it. I have not yet been to this office, but have taken my family members and paid the bills. Their prices are reasonable for their services provided. My family has been very happy with their treatments and are willing to go to Glenn's Bay Dentists without squalking any more.

Dr. Obenchain herself is excellent--professional, knowledgeable, and someone I trusted for my care…read moreover the past three years. Unfortunately, the billing office completely undermines that experience. After a routine visit on March 19, I received a bill right before leaving for a family vacation (April 3-17). When I returned, my entire family came down with COVID, which delayed me from going through my mail. As soon as I reviewed it, I immediately called and paid the balance on May 1. Despite that, I received a letter from the billing office claiming no payment had been made and stating I would now be required to pay in full at the time of service. The tone was unnecessarily harsh and accusatory, especially given my consistent history of paying my balances over the past three years. Including a policy as if I were unaware or negligent felt condescending and completely disregarded the reality that sometimes life happens. There was no attempt at understanding--just a blanket, impersonal response. It's unfortunate because the quality of care from the doctor is not reflected in how patients are treated on the administrative side. In the end, the billing office's approach was enough for me to take my care elsewhere. If you choose to go here, be aware: the medical care may be great, but the billing experience can leave a very different impression.
