Interior: the waiting area is comfortable and has plenty of seating. There is a TV and plenty of reading material in the waiting area. The exam rooms appear to be new and are very clean. Staff: the staff has always been polite and friendly. Sometimes they are personable and a pleasure, other visits, the staff have been strictly professional. They haven't been rude, just professional. The main issue I have with this location is the poor follow up. I have been there a couple of times and been informed that I will receive a call with results and yet have received no phone calls. It's a doctor's office, so make sure to get your appointment before going and make your own calls to get follow up information.

I missed the call from my awesomely concerned family doctor who had already reviewed my ER records despite the fact that it was a holiday and she was supposed to be relaxing. She wanted to have me come in for a follow-up exam. Since I didn't recognize the number and my voicemail box was jammed full, I didn't know I was supposed to go in. But on Thanksgiving, in the evening, when I relapsed into that toxic pain and shaking, my family called Dr. Rentel. She was there, and she had advice. She got me through the night and saw me first thing Monday. This is the most compassionate doctor. I love her to pieces. She has her patients' best interest in mind. She really cares about your health. And she's funny and easy to talk to. I have high praise for Dr. Rentel. If you're looking for a new family doctor, definitely try to get in with her. It will be tough. Since she's so amazing, she's always booked full. But if you happen to call the office when they're taking new patients, you musn't undervalue the opportunity. Jump on it! They sent me away with anxiety meds. Needless to say, I didn't take them and went to see Dr. Rentel the following Monday. By chance, I was assigned to her when I was a student at OSU in the student health department. She asked me if I had allergies, to which I replied NO. She took a good look at me and said, "Yes you do." She gave me oral steroids and within 24 hours my breathing issues were totally resolved. Turns out, I have a severe grass pollen allergy that developed as an adult and procudes asthma. I'm now taking allergy shots to help build a tolerance to my allergies and symptoms. I wasn't crazy afterall!

I had one more lab test to do and now I'm waiting to hear the results. Hopefully I will learn what's going on with my body. In a week or so there are more tests to do but I don't mind if it helps me feel better! The practice has grown considerably since 1997 and now includes 6 or 8 doctors and several nurse practitioners. They recently relocated to new facilities in the Altair Medical Building (off Africa Rd just beyond the COPC Headquarters and the COPC Medical Building. I have the utmost faith and trust with these doctors and credit Dr Richard will saving my life when he detected colon cancer over 20 years ago when it was still highly treatable. He's not one to order tests unless there's a really good reason and is not one to overly medicate a condition. I've seen a number of the doctors and nurse practitioners in this practice when Dr Richard hasn't been available and all provided excellent care. I would highly recommend Westerville Family Physicians.
