Though considering my past record this could mean anything from a few times a week to once every three years... Anyway, as Eleanor pointed out this is a pretty large Spar and thus has a good selection of all the usual grocers. This is particularly, handy and useful for those along the fruit and veg lines as well as prepacked sandwiches. As it's unlikely you'll find products up to a similar standard of these in the numerous corner shops and newsagents scattered around locally. Hence, it's either this Spar or the Sainsbury's further along Clarkston Road. Fair enough, Sainbury's isn't all that much further and does, obviously, have a much better selection - being a supermarket and all - but this Spar is that little bit handier for a few quality items. For instance, today we popped in here on the way from stocking up from Discount Pet Supplies and to a pub lunch. So an excellent addition which fits nicely into a niche market between the newsagents and Sainsbury's massive supermarket. Plus, there's a free of charge cash machine attached to the wall just outside, which is also of great use.

The shop sells everyday essentials from bread, milk, some household products like soap and toilet roll, cold meat and drinks etc. It is not a big shop but sells the essentials and being open until 10pm is definately a plus. Situated in the middle of the main street, Farmfoods is a great discount freezer shop. The shop is…read morea fair size and is disabled friendly. The aisles are spacious and the layout is easy to follow. This shop also sells grocery items such as buiscuits, bread, milk, eggs etc, much means that you are able to do a big shopping without having to go to elsewhere. The staff are friendly, if not very busy. The only downside is that there is really no parking, and the nearest car park is behind in Somerfield which means you would have to carry your shopping a distance.

This is a lovely, combat little shop with loads of stuff in it at reasonable prices. My special…read morefavourite is their small half litre tubs of locally made raspberry ripple ice-cream for only 99p. Excellent for a lazy Sunday. The staff are very friendly and always give you a genuine smile as well as all the please and thank you's. It might not sound like much, but it does make a different if you're shopping in somewhere a few times a week (and usually on the way home after a long and rather bad day). It's also stocks a good enough range of cheap (ish) alcohol. So you can pick up pretty much all the little bits and pieces you might need. Though, beware it does shut slightly earlier than the other newsagents around here, probably around the 8pm mark. Hence, if you're making a quick carry out dash don't even think of trying here.

Corner stores are so hit and miss - you either get a warm friendly greeting, or some total grump who doesn't want to talk to you. Thankfully, the guy here was super welcoming and had a big smile - so that's the reason for the 4 stars. The shop isn't massive but it has a good selection of all the corner store essentials, and was very clean and tidy (even though the guy was stocking shelves at the time).

This is my local newsagent / convenience store and although it's small, it's pretty well stocked…read more One wall is all groceries, from bottles of juice, tinned food, bread, biscuits, toiletries, household goods, etc. Two fridges up the back have milk, cheese, bacon, that kind of stuff. Magazines, crisps, sweets and I even think there's a freezer underneath the piles of newspapers, although I've never bought frozen stuff here. They have a good range of booze behind the counter, including a selection of wine - nothing fancy, all pretty cheap, but if you need an emergency bottle of Jacob's Creek (and after a hard Monday at work, who doesn't?) then it's fine. Prices are standard corner shop - you'll get cheaper if you go to a supermarket but I don't feel like you get ripped off here. Best of all are the staff - it's been the same family running it for years and they're really friendly, greet you by name and always smiling and chatty.

A good bakery that is not over stocked and a section for Kosher products for the large Jewish community. I've seen cd's on sale such as various hit albums for under £5.00. A good wee local Co-Op with good promotions on juice and other bits and bobs that changes every few…read moreweeks. It's cramped inside and it's not always well stocked so it can be a bit hit and miss. They have a modest range of beers wines and spirits, with regular promotions on different drinks. I quite like Co-op's own brand of most things, including their cold meat and bakery products. It's a bit dearer than Asda or Tesco and the other big boys, but I still find myself going back. A busy enough wee place.

They have a really good selection of sweets if that's what you're in the mood for! Word of advice: they are very strict on age laws for tobacco products and alchohol. If you look under 25 bring ID!

I popped in here to grab some last minute snacks for an event at the nearby Craft Pottery. This is a small Sainsbo's with a small-ish range. They did have everything I needed though - which was crisps and paper towel. The guy on the checkout was exceptionally helpful so big shoutout to him (Daniel, I think his name was) and packed the crisps into bags with flair like I've never seen at Waitrose. He's the reason this is a 4 not a 3-star review. Prices are reasonable, they have a good range of home brand crisps and a few of the varieties are even vegan (who knew bacon crispies would be made from beetroot?!). I'd go here over the nearby Tesco, for sure.

A decent Sainsbury's Local on Sauchiehall Street…read more 'Local' roughly translates as a shop that is really small, based on the size of this one and that's the main annoyance here is that it can be a bit cramped. They do a decent bakery and it's good for picking up bits and bobs if you're going to the GTF for e.g. but if there's a Co-Op and Tesco just up the road a bit and a proper big Sainbury's down the road in the opposite direction which stops me from actively seeking this place out.
