Driving on the left hand side is not something to choose easily....I have only done it once before in 1982 in Jamaica and it was fine because I was incredibly young and the roads were less travelled back then but it's hard to change. I know many accidents/ deaths that have happened because of this. Anyway we decided to do the train bit. When we arrived at the York train station we had some time to wait so Joe said " Go check out the Booths" I already knew this is a grocery store chain in England and had seen it before But I was blown away at this one and was surprised to find it at the Windermere train station. I spent a good 45 minutes in there and purchased many items for our next destination. Beautiful produce and it also had a whole bakery area and a area with pharmacy type items too. When Joe insisted I go honestly I was a bit annoyed like Why? Lol Great store! Best in town!

I made several Thai dishes and Booths had all the necessary ingredients from fish sauce to palm sugar to dried kaffir lime leaves. Prices are much lower and the selection much larger than you'd find in London. Try £26 for a bottle of Veuve, and yes we bought a case for Christmas lunch! If you're self catering in the Lake District and are looking for quality well above your average Tesco Express, be sure to make the drive to Booths.

Tesco in earlestown in newton le willows isn't as big as the tescos in the town centres nor is it a…read moretwenty four hour tesco - but its just as good. Its open normal hours 8 am - 8pm monday to saturday and then 10am - 4pm on sundays. All your foods and drinks are stocked here and as everybody knows with all tescos their is a great choice of varied foods on offer. At the moment they have the offers of drinks so christmas celebrating doesn't have to cost too much. They also have a decent sized electrical section for your low cost kettles and toaster and other kitchen appliances. They also stock a limited range of large screen tvs so you literaly can get most things in this store. One of the downsides to tesco in newton le willows is that is doesn't have a clothing section, but i suppose you can't have everything. Parking here is great and free so long as you do not overstay. There is plenty of disabled spaces and children parking areas. Toilets in this tesco are kept very clean which is amazing as they are the only public toilets in the area whilst your out and about shopping. Staff here are lovely and helpful, always on hand to help with any queries or even with your packing of your weekly shop. They also offer a saving scheme, where you can buy £1 stamps and save on a card. For every £49 you save they give you £1 and you can redeem these on any of the stores items which is another great way to save for christmas or other occasions. Well worth a shopping trip.

Although the store is relatively small it stocks all the essentials needed for living at very cheap prices. The newly initiated 'Sainsbury's basics' line is ideal for penny pinching students such as myself. The staff are always friendly and although it can get quite busy at peak times (such as the evening) they always have a smile. All in all an excellent supermarket in an ideal location.

The food in the cafe is ok but for weeks and weeks one of the coffee machines has been out of order the other coffee machine is painfully slow. There always seems to be a dire shortage of staff and the staff that are there look so stressed. Tables are often full of dirty pots. It's such a shame as it could be a great place. The customer toilets however are smelly and more often than not dirty. Sunday 27th ladies toilet no toilet roll, bits of paper all over the floor, end toilet seat covered in skid marks, wash basins dirty. there are sheets on the back of the door for toilet monitoring and at 11.30 the sheet had already been signed off for 11am, 12pm and 1pm which is really not good enough. Bearing in mind COVID is still around the toilets should be clean. Who ever had falsified this sheet needs to be reprimanded .
