The majority of the stores customers are from the local Bangladeshi, Indian and Pakistani communities thou this is the favourite for westerners who are clued up about avoiding supermarkets for the Asian groceries. The stores deals in all of vast range of Indian spices, Asian fruit and vegetables, Halal meats, loads of freezers to cover the large range of Asian fish and sea food and a few other bits and bobs like cooking utensils. Ideal if you know what you are looking for but also the staff are helpful if you need help. A lot of these Asian stores are scruffy looking but this is probably the best in the area.

I think that its meant to be more of a convenience branch than a supermarket though as it stocks the basics that you need, without going to a huge supermarket. The prices are usual for sainsbury's not too cheap, but most of the stuff is fairly good quality. Recently, they have started stocking the sainsbury's basic range, which in my opinion is a good idea because its a very student based area, and not everyone can afford the prices, so this will attract more people. They have a small selection of magazines, toiletries, and cigarettes as well as the usual food and drink items. Staff are always friendly, but sometimes the other customers aren't. During busy times of day, its best avoided as the queues can get pretty big, though you usually still get served fairly quickly as all the staff jump on tills to get it cleared.

Iceland mainly sell value frozen foods but they also have some other foods like milk, bread,…read morebiscuits, drinks and a small selection of fresh produce. They have quite a few party food selections and at least one freezer of vegetarian food. This store is always busy so expect to queue at the tills but they do offer home delivery. The store always looks clean and tidy and the prices are good (many items are just £1). I wouldn't say you could do your whole weekly shop here but it's a great place to stock up your freezer!

However, this store is extremely cramped, if its busy and you have a trolley, you have a very hard time getting round the whole place. Still, when its quiet its a great place to stock up for not too much money, though i do tend to get drawn in by all the buy one get one free offers so I end up spending more than I planned to. They offer a free delivery service if you spend over £25 which is useful if you are on your own with 10 heavy bags of shopping as it is in the centre of town.
