I am filing this complaint against Dolbier Disaster Restoration (DDR ) for reasons that are listed…read morebelow. These events occurred while they were repairing our roof. A large tree limb fell onto our roof. It created holes in the shingles, sheeting and decking. The damages were covered by our home owner's insurance policy. The insurance adjuster allowed for replacing the shingles and sheeting on the entire roof and to repair the damaged decking. DDR was selected to do the repairs, they were provided with the adjusters' scope of damages--replace the entire roof and repair decking. I used the following terms to identify my view of the structure of a roof. Shingles are on top of the roof, sheeting goes between the shingles and the decking, we had two layers of sheeting, felt and titanium, decking are 4x8 sheets of wood that are attached to the rafters. The roof that was struck by the limb and authorized for repairs was one entire side of a gable roof. I happened to climb on to the roof and observed the roofers as they were working. This is what I observed-- 1. Approximately 1/3rd of the roof had been removed. The roofers were in the process of replacing this part of the roof. The balance of the roof was untouched. DDR was authorized by the insurance adjuster and myself to replace the entire roof. They arbitrarily opted to only do 1/3rd of the roof. Why would DDR replace 1/3rd when they were requested and authorized to replace the entire roof ? 2. I observed that the roofers were in the process of laying down felt paper. They were rolling the felt over a large hole. The hole was very noticeable- it was about six inches wide. A visual inspection showed the hole was also in the decking. The titanium was not present. It was very clear that the workers were going to cover the hole and not repair the decking. There were other holes in the roof. They had already covered these holes with the felt paper. There was no material on the roof to repair holes. It seems reasonable to assume that the other holes were not repaired-they were covered with felt. Later I found on the ground the piece of titanium paper that cover the hole, apparently the roofer cut it off and threw it over the side. It has a large tear where that the limb made I have this piece of titanium. I contacted DDR and advised them of this situation. A few days later a different crew arrived. They properly replaced and repaired the entire roof. A frightening thought --Without proper roof repairs, rain would continue to entered our home year after year. We all can envision the consequence of the damages this would have cause to our home. Thank goodness my 78-year-old body gave me the strength to climb onto the roof. I do wonder if this happened to a person unable to climb onto the roof, or assumes the repairing company would do what the insurance company felt necessary to properly repair their roof. Can you imagine what their life would be like when these defects was discovered ??? FYI, I've been in the property casualty and risk management insurance for over 40 years. My first job was a claims adjuster. I've worked with very honorable professionals. It is very difficult for me to imagine that companies can provide this type of service and walk away leaving the homeowner in a pickle while there were fully compensated. Thanks for taking time to review this matter. Regards, Tim Cummings, CPCU

Paul Davis bothered to work as diligently to collect money from the insurance as hard as they worked on making preparations to sue me, they may have been able to do what I did. I'm responsible for Paul Davis getting the money they so ineptly did not acquire a contract in writing when accepting a verbal "yes" from the manager of my insurance. claim! You're welcome Paul Davis.... And thank you for the threats, the holding hostage of my property, and the horrible communication of your intent that you would hold me responsible for your employee getting my home without proper documentation to do so. Then, holding me responsible for not getting that proper documentation and sending me notification of having to pay a bill that the insurance was supposed to have approved per all the text you sent me, which is the only reason I said OK. However, I'm still left in my predicament because my home is gutted, I'm still having to deal with the horrible insurance company. My choice of insurance companies is not anyone's fault but my own; however, I would rather have a place to live in a pot to pee in rather than me stuck homeless like I'm gonna be and I do fully blame this company for being in my situation. Thank God, I was able to stop their lawsuit since I was able to get WSOC TV channel 9's investigative reporter to help me in getting those funds for Paul Davis since their employees don't know how to get appropriate documentation prior to gutting someone's home, or at least my home! I will be getting my storage out of their control as soon as possible. Through this, I learned that they we're going to have me pay to have my storage returned to me, but didn't bother to let me know. It had already been paid for them to bring my storage to me or so it appears in the estimates I read through after educating myself extensively on this entire process. I really don't appreciate feeling as though things have not been provided to me in honesty and that is how I am left in complete understanding unfortunately!

After this, meeting with someone who keeps their word gains extra importance. The personable and professional Dean Flowers came out to give an estimate on water damage and possible mold. I was thrilled when I learned that the company would not only do the mitigation but the repairs as well. Making my life so much easier! Abraham Reyes was the project manager and was always timely, friendly and professional. His team was amazing, I really appreciated their workmanship, attention to detail, and that everything was left sparkling clean. Paul Davis worked seamlessly with our insurance company and we were so pleased with them that as mentioned above they completed a secondary job for us as well. We feel the services received were worth the money spent. As I told Abraham, I hope we won't need mitigation/repairs in future but if we do I know who we will call!
