I was under a time constriction and they worked with me on my timing and my repair. The quality of the work was very good and I recommended them to my neighbor who also had damage. I rarely write review, nor do I recommend any company unless I am satisfied with the work and know that it wouldn't reflect on my judgement. We used Appalachian Construction before to install a bow window and knew what a fantastic job they did so when we realized we had a deck problem we called them. We had some rotted boards they replaced and then we realized our deck was warping and luckily they realized our 2 main 6"x6" posts had rotted. They replaced those beams with 8"x8" beams which leveled out our deck before anything catastrophic happened. Perfect job. Then we had them finish 3 unfinished rooms in our cellar. They sheet rocked the walls and ceiling and painted and put up mouldings and installed flooring. This looks beautiful and has really added value to our home. Alex and Jacob worked long and hard on all these projects over a few months. They really know what they were doing. We would HIGHLY recommend Appalachian Construction and Handyman. read more

We called Appalachian to do a fairly major repair in a tall wall that was rotting right down to the foundation. It was for our church so it had to be done by a reputable company with all the required insurance, bonds and licenses. We got a great estimate, excellent communication throughout, and excellent workmanship. I couldn't be happier. read more

We hired Appalachian for two jobs. The first job was an exterior full size door on our crawl space. We are completely satisfied with the workmanship. The installers were on time and did a quality job. The second job was the installation of two exterior lights and again we were completely satisfied. The installers were on time and courteous. They came out for an estimate and spent roughly 5 minutes at my house. I received an estimate that was not as requested. I requested pricing on cracked concrete and waterproofing. They quoted rotted wood and reframing. The quote did not include the requested repairs of cracked concrete and waterproofing. I asked to setup a time to discuss and they missed our setup time (Tuesday, 6/22). I was able to get them on 6/23 and they said there was a bit of a language barrier with their field associate and asked for a chance to make it right. Still haven't heard back from them. Update: the owner and one of his associates called on 6/30 & 7/1 and we talked through the challenges. He seemed to understand what fix needed to be made and said he would rework the quote. it has now been OVER FOUR WEEKS since appalachian construction and handyman llc/owner mike benson breached 2 legal work contracts on 6 jul 2021 (even though over $7000 was pre-paid to the company before any work began). why hasn't benson made any effort whatsoever to right the wronged situation? why does benson refuse to reimburse for all that work pre-paid for but not done (completion of demolition, inspection, damage correction, restoration). benson has not reimbursed one red cent! explain that please. is this the kind of customer service that you'd really want to hire? read more

I was very happy working with Mike and Appalachian Construction. Mike's team found the sliding door I ordered for my home was not manufactured properly. Mike work directly with the vendor to get a new door ordered. They also came up with a solution that did not leave my home exposed throughout the winter season while we waited for the new door to arrive. This was one less thing I needed to worry about. Mike and his team were great about keeping me posted about the status of the project. Everyone that I encountered from App Construction were polite and pleasant to talk with. Working with Appalachian Construction & Handyman was a great experience. I live out of state and needed a repair to an inside door that required replacing door and repairing wall around door for preparation to paint. The owner, Michael, promptly returned my call. I was on a bit of a time crunch and he was able to work me in to his schedule to complete the work to accommodate my short time frame. I have had lackluster experiences with handyman providers in the past so have been hesitant to use them (even with an ever growing list of small home projects outside of my skillset). My experience with Appalachian Construction & Handyman, LLC was a complete turnaround from other providers I have worked with in the past.
