Shockingly, they denied the cancellation. They are currently pursuing $38,000 in rent for a unit I never entered, never took keys for, and canceled 55 days before the start date. My attorney has been fighting this for a month with no resolution because their communication is designed to wall you off. The location managers and sales staff refuse to help. There is a reason this business has an F rating with the Better Business Bureau and over 770 complaints regarding hidden fees and cancellation issues. I have escalated this to the Attorney General and local authorities. Save yourself the legal battle and go elsewhere. They forced me to write this review. I toured every coworking property in Pasadena before selecting Spaces. In 2025, I signed a lease with Spaces, paid my deposit, and the first month's rent. I chose that particular office for very specific reasons: window suite, near-direct access to outdoor space for my mixers, a quiet, stable spot for my podcasting, and walking distance to my escrow and other real estate offices. Four days before move-in, Spaces informed me that my office had been leased to "a corporate client." My business, plans, furniture, artwork, and my podcast were put on hold. They offered to let me move in, but only for 16 days. They dangled larger offices and in completely different locations in Pasadena, but made it clear they could push me out of that one at any time. Did you know that Spaces has 2 locations in Pasadena, and they operate as a Regus south of the 210 freeway? Those other 2 locations were completely unsuitable for me. I thought it was getting resolved. They apologized in writing and promised a full refund. That was weeks ago. I have followed up three times and received no response. They still owe me thousands of dollars. Like I said, they forced me to write this review. Unless you enjoy headaches and instability, I recommend staying away from Spaces and Regus. read more

I rented a desk in a shared office here for a little over a year. I liked the environment very much but I've literally NEVER encountered a business run so badly. I mean... it's next level terrible. It's almost like it's not even a real business but a reality show where they put the most incompetent people they could find in charge of a shared workspace company to see how much ineptitude the tenants would put up. I agree with the last comment that one star may actually be too much. To look at the positives though, the physical space is lovely, quite clean, and the tenants are great. The location has a lot to walk too, and there's parking in a lot that's safe and monitored. The printer is always broken, but other than that, no issues. The administrative side though is a disaster. The office staff is apathetic at best, rude at worst. We've had an issue with almost every monthly statement having errors, overcharging us, charging inconsistent amounts, etc. When questioned the office manager Sandy answers none of the questions directly and is extremely hostile throughout the process. read more

Don't waste your time and money here. I was repeatedly told certain forms needed to be notarized only to months later discover they never needed to be. The sales person for this place doesn't fully disclose billing and fees. They are overly aggressive and predatory in their fee schedule as many others have also said. Additionally they routinely cut staff and send out emails saying no one will be at the front desk due to staffing issues, and this happened regularly. The place isn't clean upstairs. What you can see downstairs is clean but upstairs it's gross. I picked this place over my other solid option because of the prime location. But I deeply regret that now that I worked with people here. The service is poor overall as well as consistently aggressive and dismissive. if you can't get clear consistent responses, can't bank on anyone being at the front desk, and literally told wrong information what's the point of a good location. Also their portal doesn't always work, and any errors in their portal to view invoices or cancel your contract is put on you at your expense. So expect huge bills you never planned on receiving. I totally understand why others in the comments want to sue. Luckily I wasn't here very long but pretty much as soon as I started, I needed to stop the agreement. There are many other options in Los Angeles and Pasadena to go to- again, don't waste your time here. Maybe an hour by hour thing if you're absolutely desperate, just hope someone is actually available and you don't sign a contract. If you complain,they will charge random late fees then cancel you. My credit card was always current, updated and on file. They won't refund their obvious mistake, rent jumped up 25% and they automatically renewed my month to month rent to an additional 3 months contract, saying I agreed to the terms and conditions. Which in the contract states will be emailed. Not agreed to. Check them out. Jade up front. Horrible people. Can't get Management of Spaces to even call you back. Tried 5 times. I was a loyal tenant of DTLA and then Pasadena Spaces for about 5 years. I even gave them a few referrals during that time. I loved the place. But then Spaces Pasadena decided to raise my rent over 60% out of the blue for no reason. When I complained, they kindly offered to help me cancel my membership. No thanks, I can do that myself. Maybe they are trying to compensate for Anne Hathaway and Jared Leto, but WeWork offered me a similar-sized office inside a better facility for less money than I was paying BEFORE the rent hike. So I canceled my long-standing Spaces membership and moved my office. Right after I canceled I got a concerned call from Spaces corporate asking why after 5 years I'm moving out and mentioning that I have "options." We LOVE my husband's new office space. It's closer to my parent's house and has so many cool amenities. Spaces is giving We Work some serious competition. The office he rented was cheaper. It's 5 blocks from Old Town Pasadena. It's a block away from Urth Cafe and right across the street from the Pasadena Playhouse. You get full access to their kitchen, office conference room on the first floor that you can rent and they even have bikes you can rent to help you ride to Old Town and get there faster. There's a ping pong table in case you need to take a break and the outdoor space I can imagine will be nice to enjoy in the Spring and Summer seasons. I love that we now have a place to work away from home where there is a clear delineation between work and relaxation. Looking forward to spending more time here and exploring the local eats. Full disclosure I'm basically pasting the exact same 1-star review I gave to Spaces that I gave them on google. I wish I could give them negative stars because they are still harassing me and have no customer service reps to call. Google review: Do Not go here! I rarely give bad reviews but Spaces is not a value. They have very shady lease agreement terms and charges. I needed an available place to do some laptop work for a month. I wanted somewhere I could walk to. I bought a month from them and the first time going there after signing their contract they were closed. They did not email or text a notice. They just posted a note on the door. I wasted my time walking up there to work just to find out they would be closed the next two days and they are not open on weekends. I asked them for a refund because they weren't open when I needed and I didn't trust them to be open the next time. David Morrison the Area Manager emailed me stating Spaces would not approve a refund due to contract terms. David Morrison also told me in the email that in order to cancel my "membership" (I only bought one month and only asked for one month) I would have access the online portal to request my membership be canceled. SHADY! Now that I have put in a REQUEST to cancel, Spaces billing has emailed stating that may cancellation will be effective after an extra month that I didn't want or ask for in the first place. So the battle with Spaces continues. Not worth your time! Don't go here. Do yourself a BIG favor and just go to your local coffee shop that respects your business. Lastly, I saw online that there is a lawsuit with a similar type of company happening now for almost the exact same thing Spaces is refusing to do for me now. ______________________________________________________________ A few days after writing this review I got a response in the "company owners reply" (from what I assume was a bot) that stated: "Hello Tynan, I'm sorry to hear this. You're telling me to contact the generic customer service email to get help? Why can't you just help me now instead of replying to this review? Well, I did contact the generic customer service email, and I got a generic template response stating it will take up to 4 days just to get back to me. ___________________________________________ Don't go to Spaces unless you're willing to deal with giant hassles and to get stuck in a contract you don't want!!! Update: still have not heard back from customer service. Update: On September 30th I received a threatening email from Spaces stating that I was overdue and they are going to put me in collections. This is after I reached out to them to cancel and have still had no response to this point other than the companies automatic threat. On October 7th, 2020 I received another email with an invoice where they are adding a late charge of $46.00 after canceling my membership with them. I'm assuming that these unfair late charges are added cost to your account so that they can sell a higher amount to a collections agency in order to make a higher profit from screwing over their ex-members. I walked in at 5:52 p. m. and approached the front desk with a smile. I said I knew they were closing soon but I just wanted to physically see the common, dedicated desk and individual office options. Just physically look at for a matter of seconds, then I'd be on my way well before 6 p. m. and just sign up for my chosen option online. So I could start working asap, even the next morning. "We're closing", said the Spaces person behind the desk. I'll skip through the clueless, disrespectful minute that followed, but she finally gestured with her arm, saying "that's the common area". "Great, thanks. I said. See. I just need to lay an eye on the other two options, just as quickly, then I'll walk out and sign up online. She said the offices are upstairs. I said, "cool, I'll just go take a look very quickly and be back in 1-2 minutes." So she kind of shrugged and said, "okay.". In the meantime some really nice customers managed to show me the cool ping pong table and more common space while THEY offered to help me find the elevator. But I ended up back at the desk just to ask, "how do I get upstairs?" Then came the most insulting reply of all, "wait you want ME to take you upstairs and show YOU around now? We are closed!". She said this in a condescending huff as if I were putting her out. Oh--and the time was now exactly 5:56 p. m. I know because I felt so angry but also disbelieving that I looked down at my phone in embarrassment. For her. And for Spaces itself. "If you want I can have one of our sales reps call you," she said, her hand in her purse as she looked to exit this cold, cold place as soon as she officially could. So, I left feeling entirely misunderstood, temporarily mad that my business meant so absolutely nothing to this person representing Spaces. But guess what? I walked home, began reading reviews and I began to feel really, really happy that this happened. The slipperiness that is mentioned elsewhere manifests also in little things, like not listening when someone willing to pay your pay check asks a polite, clear question in a kind way "I realize you are closing and I won't take more than 5 minutes...". The problem here is the customer's voice is not being heard. So it doesn't surprise me that it is apparently hard to get a definitive answer from them regarding anything as serious as cancelling an account or when they'll randomly close without notice. Things are probably fine here until you need something. But it seems that folks with actual, pressing concerns find it hard to get answers. Or even an open ear willing to listen to a question. Thank goodness this happened to me, just moments before I gave them my payment credentials. Whew. I walked out that door at 5:58 p. m. Would have been 5:55 p. m. if she'd just taken me upstairs and given me a quick (all I asked for) peek of the space. Unwittingly, she did. Let that sink in. Beware. Trust your intuition. read more

I rented their shared office space at SPACES Pasadena Playhouse District for a little over 4 months and my experience was FANTASTIC!!! Let me start with the tour I was given by Area Manager David. I inquired by email and he responded so quickly and scheduled a tour right away. As soon as I arrived, David took time and asked all the right questions to figure out what I needed and gave me such an accommodating, super fun tour of the building. My mind was 99% made up at this point, even before getting a quote, because I knew I would be in good hands! The offices and building were incredibly clean and beautiful. Just in case I had a tour with their competitor a few days later but sorry, nothing compared to David's EXCELLENT customer service and positive attitude. Once I moved in, I was even more amazed by how convenient and easy-to-use everything was! I loved my officemates who shared the space with me and welcomed me every day. And the Community Team, Clarins and Jade took such a great care of me. They both treated me very well and made me feel at home. I communicated with Jade very often and she was such a sweetheart to talk with. She was responsive, super efficient and amazingly accommodating as well. I cannot thank her enough! I am back home working remotely now and what I miss the most is the people there -- from David, Clarins & Jade, to the friendly cleaning staff, as well as Retention Account Manager Rachel who kindly reached out to me after I terminated my lease. I also enjoyed working and interacting with my great, respectful officemates! I miss them all... One star is actually too nice. Should be negative stars! DO NOT GO HERE!! THE WORST! I have never posted anything negative about any business because I understand the extreme amount of work and commitment that goes into building a successful enterprise but I have been trying to be as patient as I could for what is now over ONE YEAR with SPACES and their management. To start things off...their billing is shady...they are so eager to charge you but will take months and even longer to resolve any issues you have with their billing. It's been over one year since we moved our office out and they took several months to return a portion of the security instead of their stated 30 days.Even after countless emails and phone calls, they continue to keep our company credit card on file even though we left more than a year ago. I have told them over and over again...for months... that I would never give them any more business so they have no logical reason to keep our company credit card on file BUT they still continue to have our business credit card on file. AND...if you have any issues, you can never raise the issue above the local manager due of their company's protocols. It's absolutely bizarre for a company to run their business like this in today's customer oriented environment. I can go on and on about their other horrible practices. We are ready to report them to BBB and file a complaint with the local city agencies. We have found an amazing office option since SPACES that is the polar opposite to SPACES. They do exist. We can now finally focus on what's important... our business and no longer get stressed out about the monthly bills and unheard of requirements (lopsided non-refundable security deposits etc etc etc etc). Every month was a stress filled time at SPACES. Not worth it. Then I cancelled my account and they charged me for another $100 for no apparent reason. I tried to get in contact with someone to help me with a refund...but no one responded. If I could rate this place below 0 stars, REGUS specifically, I would. This place will do whatever it can to suck money out of you. They will lie to your face and purposefully mislead you when "guiding" you through their policies. AVOID THIS PLACE AT ALL COSTS. Save yourself the trouble. Seriously. First, their advertisement on their website is that if you pay $300-$400 a month then you get a private office that has 24/7 access. This is a complete false advertisement. The membership charge for a private office actually ranges between $650-$2000 depending on size, location, and lease duration. I met with Michael to be shown the offices available in DTLA. I asked him to name every single cost due upfront because I was looking to invest in a long-term lease and I need to make sure my budget aligns. He said just two months deposit and activation fee. I repeated back to him what he told me to be completely sure. I repeated it several times and asked that these were the only costs due by January 1st. I also asked him to repeat it several times so that I would not be mistaken. I even mentioned the amount estimate (around $1500-$1600) and he said yes, that was correct. Twenty minutes later, I get an invoice for an amount around $2800. This was concerning for me as I made a big point about transparency and getting a clear list of all upfront costs and he omitted repeatedly the fact that the two month deposit did not include first month's rent. I decided to go in a different direction and let him know this would not work. He called me on the phone, badgering me like I just should have known what he never mentioned. Like I should have just known that the deposit was separate from first month rent even though he blatantly lied repeatedly & purposefully kept this information vague. I tried to keep saying no, he would not take no for an answer and kept telling me they're offering me "such a generous discount that I really should take advantage of". I decided to give the company the benefit of the doubt so I switched to a month to month despite being lied to about the upfront amount, hoping it was just a miscommunication. He mentioned with the new lease agreement I'd pay one month deposit upfront, 1st month's rent, and activation fee. The amount then being what he initially said it was. But I'd have to pay the second month deposit on the third month. I then go to the office to pick up the order form for complimentary office furniture. I am given the WRONG form by Amberly at the front desk. I sat at the space for an hour picking out office furniture and hand over the form, only to be texted at a later time by Michael saying that 90% of the furniture I ordered was not offered with my new agreement WHICH ONCE AGAIN WAS NOT MENTIONED WHEN HE TOLD ME ABOUT THE NEW LEASE TERMS OVER THE PHONE. Once again I was lied to and my time was wasted. I had already paid the deposit and first month's rent and ultimately decided despite this, I wouldn't be moving in or even pick up the keys. I would terminate the lease, and collect the retainer later. I wait a month and they tell me I have to request the retainer online and as long as my balance is 0 I'll be able to collect the retainer. I go online to begin the process but I see a $262 balance. This was infuriating. So I emailed Nelson. He told me this fee is for office restoration and there's nothing they can do to take it off the invoice. He sent me the agreement and told me to read the office restoration section. While he mentioned an office restoration fee, HE AVOIDED MENTIONING THE FACT THAT IT WAS A MANDATORY FEE. EVEN IN THE LEASE AGREEMENT HE SENT ME, IT DOESNT SAY THIS FEE IS MANDATORY REGARDLESS IF THE OFFICE WAS EVER MOVED INTO. When I brought this to his attention he stopped emailing me completely. A week or two went by with no response and I keep getting emails about the balance so I call the front desk. Amberly picks up and I tell her everything I've been going through with this godforsaken company and that if they want to take it out of the retainer it's fine but I'm not paying even more to restore an office "to its original state" when it has remained in its original state the entire time since NOONE EVER MOVED IN. She says she'll "do some research" which turns out to be completely pointless. They won't refund my retainer unless I pay an extra $262 and there's "no way to take it out of the retainer". WHAT THE FUCK IS THE DEPOSIT THERE FOR THEN?? It's been one of the most stressful things I've had to go through and I'm tremendously disappointed at how much of a con this company actually is. This space is part of the Regus network. The Regus network promises a membership that grants you access to this space but actually charges extra. All calls to Regus customer service refused any help The team at Spaces Pasadena noted when we checked in that we had a membership but something was weird on the account and to call customer service. We were lied to by Regus. Their membership has many restrictions, which their sales people do not tell you. They sell you on something just to close their sale and customer service is unwilling to help. We were in a month to month membership and they wanted to share us for a full year when we tried to cancel everything. Beware! read more

This review is long overdue. I've had an office here since spaces opened their doors. I first met with David and Clarins before they actually were fully built out. I started with their smallest office and upgraded to medium, but now I'm waiting to get into another double the medium size. There is a common area on the first floor and all the private offices on the second floor. I love that it's separated this way since we do pay extra for private spaces. Very modern and clean space. I've shopped around and you get what you pay for here and more. This is by far the best location of all coworking spaces. Easily accessible and underground parking. Every other coworking space in Pasadena are either far from parking or super high up and inconvenient. Throughout my time here Clarins (the community manager) has been the best of help! Always patient and available to help with anything. Super accommodating even with clients coming in last minute for me. She's a direct reflection of what I'd like my company to embody when a customer enters the lobby. Thanks so much spaces, David and clarins for everything. I'm bummed to write this review. I actually liked the people at the front desk. And the space itself is cool. But they really are unfair when it comes to their business practice and cancelling memberships. I bought into the highest tier membership. I paid monthly for 6 months while my job had shut down offices. I found out my work was going to have us back starting 9/14 so I canceled my membership when I found out on 9/3, thinking I'd have to pay through 10/3 and get pro-rated for a couple extra days to make the 30 days notice they require. But instead they charged me for all of September and all of October. I contacted them online about it and they never responded. I asked the front desk for help and at first they said I could only reach customer service online. Then after a week of no response, someone finally gave me an 800 # to try. The rep there said they couldn't help me. I asked to speak with a supervisor. They said they'd have someone call me. No one has ever returned my call. I sent another message online. Nothing. After spending over 4k dollars with them, I expected more from 'customer service'. And I really do think they should be pro-rating the 30 days. The fact that I was 2 days after the 1st of the month means they charged me for 7 weeks that I didn't use. I can't recommend them with this type of practice. read more
