This may well be the most well stocked record store on the planet, but they know it and it's priced accordingly. That's not inherently a bad thing of course - selling high means they can stay open, and continue to stock their shelves with the best, and being able to actually see the condition of what I'm buying instead of taking a chance on an expensive internet purchase makes it worth the money.
What makes this place so well stocked? When I went in they had some free jazz records I'd never seen in my life, only heard of, several crates worth. Their back catalogue section for rock and pop in the back "room" (more like a warehouse) is endless and if you're in Berlin for its electronic scene, theres yet ANOTHER room in the back which is about the same size that is exclusively for that scene. I didn't even bother entering.
I could have spent hundreds of euros in here, even thousands. Why only 4 stars then? The price stickers they use do not peel off easily, and removing one actually damaged the cover of something I bought there for €25. Such an easy thing to rectify, I hope someone considers doing so as I'll be wary dropping serious cash on something here on future trips.
Overall though, if you're a vinyl collector this place has to be seen to be believed.
Oh yeah, and there's also a CD shop of the same name down the road. *shrug* read more
