How did I get this far in life without being tatted up like Postie? My answer to that is…read more"persistence and consistency", with a child-like aversion to pain. And I never expected to get off work, one Friday in March, and have my manhood put on the line by 3 gorgeous women who thought it would be both fun and endearing to brand ourselves with a bond that only the four of us would share. I could say "no" to "fun", but there's no way I would walk away from "endearing", and with a devil-may-care half-smile, I threw my proverbial hat in the ring. The studio was less seedy than I had anticipated, but it wasn't nearly as charming as the corner of the playroom where I used to lick-and-stick myself with images of Bazooka Joe & friends. The vibe of 70's hits pumping over the speakers immediately put me at ease, because they were the same songs I listened to back in the "tattoo studio" of my youth. How would I describe the pain? As the artist drew the outline, it was like burning sensations I had felt before, manageable, yet without the scent of singed hair. My masculinity levels surged. Howeverrrrrrrr... the color fill was a new experience altogether. In what can only be explained as a podiatrist performing ankle surgery without administering sedative, the look of steely determination on my face melted into a bewildered grimmace, as if I had sneaked a peek into the Ark of the Covenant while the Nazi's weren't paying attention. My testosterone levels, as well as my estrogen, plummeted. And through it all, my rock, my adventure, my wife, was right by my side, hand on my shoulder. And that was the day we were both jumped in to the S-Gang.

I have no problem touching my own eyes or applying make-up, but having a tattoo needle right there felt nerve wracking. Jenn talked me through the entire process (prep, tattoo, healing/after care, and touch-up) and we discussed the various options thoroughly (color options, thin or thick line, wing tips, etc.). She allowed me the time to relax and feel comfortable. The tattoo itself felt "tickly" right at my lash line, but was not painful. I love the result!! And I've just learned she is adding facials and other treatments to her offerings, so I will be booking one of those with her soon. I definitely recommend Jenn for your cosmetic tattoos!!
