One word of advice - do yourself a favor and take a cart here, as there's a lot of up and down and considerable distance between many of the greens and tees. If you're more than a 20 handicap, you'd be better over on the other side of the kill at Normanside GC, which is a much easier tract. The coolest thing is that it is the custom here to walk with a  pushcart, so I get lots of exercise.

The course is very nice, the greens were watered and nicely kept. The majority of the holes are Par 3 and the course isn't very hard so it's good for people just trying to have fun. The course can get busy so I suggest going during the weekdays during the afternoon. The holes aren't very long so you can definitely walk the course if you want. The price is a bit expensive, it's $27 for 18 holes on weekdays. All in all, Mill Road Golf Course is a solid course and you can stop at Otis and Oliver's for a bite to eat after a round of golf.

So the starter said looks like the other two are not coming....So we go up to get ready and tee off and right at 12:21 he goes. "There's your other two-some" I told him I am not waiting I scheduled for 12:22 and I was a half hour early because golf etiquette you don't run up to the tee box AT the time. Anyways. 12:22 comes and the 2 kids still are not coming out of the clubhouse. The starter said "they are just paying" i said well, We are teeing off. He said "no hold please". I said. "What time is our tee time?" He said "12:22" It was 12:23 at this time still no one around.... So finally i said "Mike hit away" and he got all mad and said "I tell you when you can go" And then he said "someone is on the shit list" For what being there early??? I wanted to beat the rain and had dinner plans. It's not my fault you guys want to squeeze every possible person out there.... Come to find out. The kids only had one bag. We will never return as much as I love the course. (Since I'm on the shit list) No one ever treats me like that or punishes me for being on time....

Route Fore Golf Center is a fine, casual driving range where you can go to hit some golf balls…read more They're heated booths with rubber tees that you can use when it's cold out. Also, there is a grass area where you can use your own tees. I admit this driving range is nothing fancy, but it's fun to go hit some golf balls here. Furthermore, you can buy a small bucket of balls for $6 and a large bucket for $9. I think these prices are fair. In addition, the Route Fore offers lessons and a golf simulator. While both are nice, they are quite expensive. As expressed, Route Fore is nothing special, but it's a fun driving range and it's great for casual golfers.

It reminds one of the Mashomack hunt club - if it were transported 100 miles north, plunked into suburbia, and catered to well-off golfing corporate types instead of wingshooting hedge fund billionaires and old money. The building itself is old and gracious, the staff thoughtful and understated, the vibe fairly 1%. Food surprisingly good, decent wine, lovely cake, and a pretty vista. Are those rooms one might sleep in up there on the second deck? How awesome if so -- you could tie one on at the reception, insult the bride's mum, take a punch from her pa, drop trou on stage with the best man and moon the dancing crowd, have a whiz off the patio by the flickering light of a gas fire, pass out face-down in the lap of a panicked flower girl, and be heaved unconscious into a guest bed upstairs by the club manager and the groom's cousin who played high school football. (I did none of those things, more's the pity. But I did get my bottom pinched by the superannuated and superinebriated wife of the family lawyer while in line for coffee - which family, still not sure. Thrill of the evening for boring old me.) Four stars for a very memorable, high-class, good-natured fun time; not five because - well, because it's not Mashomack.

Maxon's is the other restaurant they own which is over in Rotterdam and the food is excellent there, and no big surprise, the food is excellent here too. We had BBQ platters from their smoker which was insane. Brisket and pork belly was great, so were the fries, mac and cheese and cole slaw. For appetizer we had smoked wings which were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. So tasty they didn't even need sauce. Drink selection is great, probably a dozen beers on tap and a bunch of wines and liquors as well. I hope this place stays around for a long time.
