So though the speeches were great, and the decor grand, my luncheon with the other librarians yesterday had me mostly focused on the sit down meal that I expected, like most of these shindigs, would be small, tasteless, lukewarm, wilted and overcooked. Like wouldn't it be nice if I looked forward to a GREAT meal instead of thinking the worst, for a change, hmmmmmm??? OK I was wrong, but read on. The starter salads were romaine free because of the recent e coli outbreak. Kudos. Nice creamy balsamic dressing, colorful, fresh. The rolls were sourdoughy, warm and fragrant. Red had a chicken dish rolled around a bread stuffing covered in a rich gravy topped with dried random cranberries, good mashed, perfectly cooked green beans. Apple had the steak, topped with a burgundy sauce, same mashed and beans. The meat was a bit dry but he ate everything. I had the parm, of course. Anyway, it was eggplant, thinly sliced, pressed into a lasagna almost, topped with a beautiful thick layer of flavorful, gooey cheese, a bit crisp on the edges, and a rich red sauce that was better than just about any I've ever had. The rigatoni on the side was boring, as was the presentation, but this parm was perfectly assembled. Wow. OK this is a review of a special event, but let me tell you, the parking is ample, the grounds are spectacular, the space is lavish and beautiful, the staff were courteous and kind and professional (x5). Staff were busy trying to get the 3 different choice meals out to the crowd of 200, but by the time last of the group ate, the first people were sitting twiddling their thumbs. Maybe more help would cut down the wait time for the entire crowd. While friends thought the food was good, I was not impressed. My roast beef appeared to be sliced lunch meat with jar gravy on top. The green beans at least appeared to have been freshly steamed (cool when they arrived). Our dessert was cheesecake. (Friends said I make a better dessert.) The hard ice cream is, I believe, Perry's. I tend to go more to places that make their own ice cream, but Perry's is certainly better than no ice cream at all, and generally good. So my thought here was, "What do they do to make it stand out?" Well, they do 3 things. 1. They provide great customer service. 2. Their prices are quite reasonable. 3. The portions are H-U-G-E! Absolutely stunning venue for a shower or a wedding. I loved the building, a lot of parking, the banquet rooms, nice bar, gorgeous back patio and outside bar, nice lighting, great windows to view the well maintained course. Even the bathrooms were very nice! The Shower was a brunch style with good mimosas and decent food. It was all breakfast food, which may have been a cheaper option, who knows. It did have super good potatoes. The service seems very good with a decent number of servers assigned to the event. The place is a little far out of the way for me, but if you were looking in the area for an event venue, this is a pretty nice spot!

The tee boxes are nothing but dirt. The 3rd hole is a temporary green. Then there is an irrigation project that has 4'x4'X6' (deep) holes in the fairways. A friend lost his ball on the 18th hole because on the of the holes was just before the green and it rolled in. My friends were walked and paid $45. I doubt this course will be great to play on for the rest of the season and most likely next season. The tee boxes all need to be resodded. I don't recommend playing this course until conditions improved and/or they lower the rate a lot. Food venue was great.

So the starter said looks like the other two are not coming....So we go up to get ready and tee off and right at 12:21 he goes. "There's your other two-some" I told him I am not waiting I scheduled for 12:22 and I was a half hour early because golf etiquette you don't run up to the tee box AT the time. Anyways. 12:22 comes and the 2 kids still are not coming out of the clubhouse. The starter said "they are just paying" i said well, We are teeing off. He said "no hold please". I said. "What time is our tee time?" He said "12:22" It was 12:23 at this time still no one around.... So finally i said "Mike hit away" and he got all mad and said "I tell you when you can go" And then he said "someone is on the shit list" For what being there early??? I wanted to beat the rain and had dinner plans. It's not my fault you guys want to squeeze every possible person out there.... Come to find out. The kids only had one bag.
