Alyssa was friendly over the phone and very accommodating to my schedule; I booked an appointment for the following day. Located in Biltmore Village, in a cool, historic building, above Rezaz Cafe. There is a free parking lot adjacent to the building, so parking was a breeze. The spa is on the second floor in a bright room with a warm, cozy decor; made me feel right at home. Alyssa is the owner and esthetician. She really knows skin, inside and out. We chatted about what was going on with my skin and agreed on the 75 minute "Clarifying Facial." I've suffered with hormonal /cystic acne since my early teens. Having been under the mag-lamp of many estheticians, I have undergone a variety of facials and experienced all kinds of estheticians - the ones that don't say anything, the ones that chat the whole time, the ones that try to upsell you on products/services throughout, and the ones that just go through the motions without really being present. Alyssa doesn't fall into any of these categories ; she is super personable and accommodating to ensure that you have a wonderful experience. She read me well, and understood that I wanted a tranquil, relaxing experience - not to chat. Alyssa was focused throughout the duration of the treatment - even tailored the facial to fit my skins needs. When I asked about the products - some smelled so delicious that my mouth watered - she was extremely knowledgable , explaining the ingredients and benefits. Overall: extractions were gentle, yet effective, products smelled incredible, toasty slippers instantly warmed my feet, and the scalp massage was out of this world. Alyssa is an effective waxer. She thoughtfully shaped and cleaned my bold brows without overwaxing. I was super impressed with her Brazilian technique - quick, clean, and MUCH less painful than other waxes I've endured. Plus, she uses hard wax - major bonus. When I left, my face was glowing to the point where I didn't even need tinted moisturizer. The next day, my skin was transformed - calm, even, and dewy. In the end my previous set was not salvageable and had to be removed (too much glue etc). Heidi was so fun to chat with which made the time fly by, but she's also a total pro who has skills! She took her time and gave me a gorgeous volume set that I love. They are absolutely perfect. Other notes- after getting the full set Gaze gives you an adorable tote with lash cleanser and a brush- very nice touch. Heidi also gave me a blanket to keep me toasty- I really should have fallen asleep but ended up yakking away the whole time ‍ next time I vow to make her job easier by keeping my face still. I just had the worst experience ever at a nail salon. I was told a while back to go and see Summer…read morebecause she is very good. She has done my nails 8 times now and it has always been a great experience. Today when I came in I was early so I looked at some colors. I brought in a photo of what I wanted for my nails. It was easy, or at least I thought it would have been. The two nails with the lines were 6 lines each. One nail started with dark green and then silver, light green and then silver, and ended up with the dark green and silver. The next nail was opposite.....light green then silver, dark green and silver, and light green and silver. Simple right? BTW she does speak English very well. She had to take the lines on the nails off 4 times. The one time she only had 5 lines and had to redo it. She was pissed off by this time and kept telling me not to ask for her any more. I thought she was joking in the beginning because she likes to joke and have fun. By the end of it I knew she wasn't. She touched my thumb nail during the process and messed it up and when I showed it to her she said "Jesus Christ", like I had done it. That is so unprofessional and uncalled for. There have been a few times where my nails were a little crooked and I had her file them to be even and one time where the nail was put on crooked. When I showed her she said that my finger was crooked but the nail was going the opposite direction of the crookedness. She fixed it, but was not happy. I told her that I was moving but I could still see her in the evening after work since I could be there at 4:45 and she said that she did not want to stay late. I love the owner of the place and wish I would have seen her to begin with. She is always very sweet and offers you a drink and brings you colors to look at. All being said and done, I would love to go back but I won't because of her. Today was the very first time I left without leaving a tip ever and almost in tears from her rudeness.
