Went for the Christmas lights, it's the same every year so going once is enough. We waited over 1 hour to go today (Sunday, Dec 21). They have cops directing traffic but it's still a mess. Cars have to pull off the side of the road since it's a two lane road you wait on. It was muddy and saw multiple cars scrape the bottom of their car on the road since there's a ledge in some places. Takes about 5 minutes to drive around if you are crawling. It's $20 a car. They have a ton of displays chaotically arranged but I don't know if it's worth waiting that long. read more

Yes, this was a gorgeous venue for my sister-in-law's wedding ceremony (where I was a groomsman and my wife was a bridesmaid) and follow-on reception (even if facilities for the latter were rather lacking, e.g. small bar, no oven, just food warmers), but the beauty is hardly exclusive to this spot and is lost when dealing with the staff. They were 1. unresponsive to communication before, during and after the wedding/reception, 2. tried to fault electrical/lighting problems during the reception on bride/groom/guests before finding their faulty fuze box was to blame and took no responsibility after realizing such, 3. were unproffesional/rude when speaking to bride/groom and some of the bridal party members, 4. didn't perform as advertised in providing a covered golf cart to chauffer the bride/bridesmaids back to the changing rooms from the platform where the ceremony took place on account that it was raining (the very reason those mentioned needed the transport in order not to get wet), and 5. now won't provide even a partial refund for the lack of utilities and services (grievances 2 and 4) nor let anyone go back to pick up an item that was inadvertently left behind (large, decorative picture frame for guests to use for pictures). There are many glowing reviews, but I would advise to try other places with this same ambiance that I can imagine have less headache to deal with. read more

My wife and I recently had our wedding here and also used their catering service, Whistlin' Pig. The staff here, primarily Ryan and Ashlie, treated us like family and went through great lengths to ensure that this was the greatest day of our lives. It also helps that the value of what you pay for is incredible. We are extremely grateful for everything they did for us, and I recommend absolutely anyone have their big day here and to use their catering services. My guests were extremely happy with the services, the smoked southern style foods, the atmosphere, and the warm and homely feel that the staff maintained throughout. Anyone remotely near the area would be doing themselves a disservice not hosting their wedding here. Side note: The Christmas light display is also fantastic. It's so easy to be focused on the wedding that it can be easy to forget that they do that as well, but it's a wonderful holiday experience that everyone should tour at least once. read more

We just had our Ducks Unlimited banquet in the barn at Sowell Farms and it was beautiful! They went out of their way to accommodate our needs to include last minute table requests and crazy table cloth colors. The venue is beautiful, the food was great and the family is awesome. read more

The Christmas lights on this large family farm is a delightful experience. Two friends and I drove through last night, the first time for all of us. It's clear the Sowell family has captured Christmas in every aspect, from whimsical childlike to its special meaning. Exhibits twinkle, swirl and twirl, Mr and Mrs Santa kiss, reindeer leap, all manner of Disney-like animals are decorated for Christmas. The line of cars was long, yet the drive through the farm -- every inch lit up with something creative and fun -- was slow and uncrowded, not bumper to bumper. It's amazing to realize how much attention to detail it takes to lay out acres and acres of exhibits and calibrate the moving parts. Kids really enjoy the little trolley, though we didn't ride it. I see why Sowell Farm won ABC's 2019 Great Christmas Light Fight, ahead of other incredible competitive displays around the country. read more

The family and I went for the Christmas lights last night. We had heard that they were going to be on a TV Christmas light competition show. We thought, "okay, it has to be good". We were disappointed. It was our first and last time. Driving a simple U-shape loop for $10 that took less than 5 minutes was not worth it. There were a lot of repeat displays as well. The display in Defuniak Springs was way better. Another person posted that the lights in their local neighborhood were just as good, if not better. I would have to agree. If any of you are going to North Carolina, check out Mike's Farm. That place blows this display away, hands down. read more

Ok, so we saw a billboard advertising "500,000 Christmas lights!" And heard about the train ride. My 3 year old LOVES trains and Christmas lights. So win, win right?! Wrong. We paid 10.00 to get in. Then we paid 2.00 per person to ride said train. But to ride the train? You have to stand in a mile long line to purchase a ticket. You can't just hand a guy your two dollars. And it's not a line for just train tickets. It's the concession line. So you have to wait for 500 got chocolates to be made when all you want is a damn blue ticket. Have you ever promised your three year old a train ride and then made him stand in a line for 25 minutes? Lol. It's so much fun. So we finally get our ticket, and take a whopping 4 minute ride through someone's driveway. Those 500,000 lights? Lol they must've counting individual bulbs because there's no more lights than you'd see in your local neighborhood. On our way out, we wanted to shout to the 100+ lines of cars lined miles down the road to just head over to our neighborhood for free because it would have held the same value. Finally the worst part. The concrete marshmellows, overwatered hot chocolate and unsanitary workers was the icing on the cake. But hey! For an additional 10.00 you can take an iPhone picture with Santa. Yes that's right. You can pay 10.00 to take your own photo on your phone. I can go to our local bass pro and paid 15.00 for a professional photo and print. And not waste space on my iCloud for a Santa photo I paid to take myself. read more

Don't go to the Christmas light display! Their traffic direction is horrible. It will take 3 hours just to see the lights.

We have driven through this display for several years but in no universe is it worth $10 entrance now plus $2 per person for the train ride. I can go to Bristol Motor speedway and see 2 million light display for $12 per car and get to drive on the speedway at that. Or Calloway Gardens Fantasy in Lights for $21pp for 8 million lights. And the proceeds for both go to charity or upkeep of the public gardens. Not to a private family. Or even Tanglewood Golf Course lights with over 1 million lights for $15. Come on guys. This is Christmas. Talk about price gouging. Think I'll head to Defuniak Springs for $3 and see a better display. Or check out Geek on the Corner or Troon goon lights display shows in Bluewater Bay Niceville for free. Both are phenominal! This is typical big head syndrome at Sowell farms. My husband Eric and I just recently got married at Sowell Farms and it was an exceptional experience. Ashlie and her husband are truly gifted at making such a special day truly remarkable. Ashlie is very professional in wedding planning and made every step of the process of planning the wedding and caring it out seamless and stress-free. We had to postpone our wedding date due to COVID-19 and Ashlie was very accommodating in working with my vendors to reschedule. On the day of our wedding it was a tropical storm and Ashlie went above and beyond to try to keep us drive by driving us around and golf carts that were covered during my photo shoot. The accommodations at Sowell Farm are breathtaking. All of our photos turned out amazing because of how beautiful this venue is. They also have special features like to zebras and a camel the graze in the background of the pavilion during the wedding ceremony. The barn where the reception is held is breathtaking and everything I could've wanted in a wedding venue. We really enjoyed the bridal suite and the groomsmen suite for getting ready. The groomsmen suite had a pool table and a foosball table video games and a big screen TV to keep them entertained and relaxed during the waiting process for the bride to get ready. In the bridal suite was lovely because there is plenty of space for all of my bridesmaids to sit and relax and have snacks while my Hair Stylist got us ready. I can't say enough good things about Sowell Farms as a fantastic wedding venue. The prices are affordable for all that you're getting included in your wedding. There's so many choices and Ashlie is great at helping you decide the look and theme of your wedding. They also won the great American light fight for Christmas lights this past year because they have an amazing Christmas light display. They spend a lot of time and effort working on converting their wedding venue to a huge drive through Christmas light display. $10 per car is a great price considering how much work that goes into doing what they do. It comes from the heart and they are a wonderful family and we loved working with them. We highly recommend Sowell Farm for a wedding venue and for the Christmas light display every year. read more

Do you enjoy extended car rides out to a place that has the promise of "hundreds of thousands of lights"? Do you enjoy having to use a single portable toilet with no place to wash your hands? Do you ALSO think that using hand sanitizer is just as good as washing hands after using said toilet, even if you are the PERSON SERVING FOOD AT THE CONCESSION STAND? Then THIS is the place for you! Spend $5 to drive through someone's driveway with dozens of christmas light displays! Or, for those "train" enthusiasts among you, for an extra $1 per person, you can ride the "train" up and down their driveway at a whopping -1mph. This train not only does not need train tracks, but its bumpy metal seats will leave you realizing just how overrated comfort of any kind actually is! Be prepared to fulfill your wildest Christmas dreams as you drive up their driveway, then back down, then leave. It will leave the kids full of traditional holiday disappointment, and the parents with the age old question "are you freaking kidding me? Five dollars for THIS???". Don't be fooled, it is literally driving up and down someone's driveway. But on the plus side, I am now thinking about charging cars to pull into my driveway and look at our single christmas inflatable for 5 bucks a pop! And the wedding planner was extremely rude and unprofessional to the guests. If you want your day to be the best day of your life, spend your money elsewhere. The facilities are very nice, there are however some things that could be improved. The wedding ceremony seemed very rushed. It seemed like it took longer for the wedding party to walk down the aisle than to perform the ceremony. We had purchased flowers for the bridal party and parents, grandparents etc. They were delivered the day before the ceremony. They wedding coordinator never distributed the flowers to anyone, they remained in the refrigerator the whole time. After the ceremony, she was questioned about it and her response was I didn't mean know there were flowers!! Really? She had one job! They also cut almost all of the wedding cake. More slices than there were guests, so that was wasted because there was no way to take it at that point. I would give this facility a fair rating. I know there are always little glitches with every wedding, but these were pretty significant from out perspective. read more
