The unsuccessful copy was useless, and my attempts to restore the paths using third-party software failed. OK, so it was time to try restoring the most recent backup from an external drive, but that failed as well. Fearing the worst, I took everything to PC Place, where Charles was confident that the files could be recovered one way or another. He explained clearly what steps he recommended and what my options might be. After analyzing the situation, recovering everything from the backup seemed most promising. It took several days to accomplish it all, including installing new internal drives, preparing a new external backup drive, and performing a general tune-up of the system. After a nail-biter of a week, ALL my data files were restored exactly as they had been - whew!! Charles also provided recommendations for maintaining the system in the future.
